  1. Okay Thanks guys. Yes I saw the faces were inverted but I didn't think this in itself would cause the issue as I simply checked the flip normals on import option. However I never saw those internal faces so maybe it was those causing the issue. Thanks for the direction!
  2. My model looks fine in Blender and Cinema4D. When I bring it into 3dCoat it has missing faces. How can I solve this? Image and .obj file attached 3dCoat 4.9.53 AssetFactor_01.obj
  3. I'm sure I used to be able to just right click one each point and the curve point would sharpen/ unsharpen - but now it does nothing (4.9.53 GL64) I'm I the only one seeing this?
  4. SOLVED: C4d users, this is possible and actually quite simple. I recommend doing all the texturing before rigging (if you can) so that you you don't have to do these steps, but sometimes it might not be possible for whatever reason. So, to get materials and mapping from a textured (non rigged) mesh to a rigged mesh is as follows: Bring/merge your UVW mapped/textured mesh into the same c4d scene as your rigged/non textured mesh Drag your material/s into to the boned mesh (this creates the material tag) For each object drag the UVW tag from the mapped mesh to the boned mesh object You may need to set the tag properties to UVW map. Done. Your rigged mesh is now textured. I'm sure it must also be possible in Maya/max etc to and the thing to look for I think is something like 'Project UVs'. Good luck!
  5. Ah okay, but I also UV Mapped the model in 3DCOat so I'm guessing there's no way to transfer just the textures AND UV map info back to the boned mesh in C4d..or is there?
  6. I just used a straight fbx export from c4d and import for pixel painting in 3DCoat. No Applinks involved.
  7. Hi, I just spent a couple of days modelling and rigging a character then bringing it into 3DCoat today to texture. Upon exporting the mesh from 3dCoat as FBX I discovered that all the bone information seems to have vanished. Is this expected behaviour? If so then its going to be pretty useless if I need to tweak the textures on an already animated character isn't it? Or is there some special way? Thanks
  8. Thanks. In the end it was some wierd overlapping UVs that showed up in the texture editor window but not in the UV room. I just moved the island somewhere to fix it CHeers
  9. No matter what I try I cant delete these red pixels. They seem to have both colour and depth information which is ruining the otherwise finished model. Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks
  10. When trying to 'Get Back' from Blender nothing is happening for me. Blender 2.80, 3DCoat 4.9.05 (GL64) . Exchange folders and Object/Texture Folders all set up correctly. No errors as far as I can see... just nothing happens. What can I do?
  11. Yeah, Blender just crashes when I try to send to 3Dcoat. I think I have the latest version you linked here but it still say version 5.0.0 in Blender. Unusable at the moment for me
  12. No error . My alpha is just opaque no matter what I try to do. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Is there a help doc anywhere for exporting alphas? I've tried hooking an exported alpha from 3dCOat using the Blender nodes and changes the type to something other than opaque but the material remains opaque.
  13. Hi, how do I get the changes? Blender says the version is 5.0.0. Is that correct? If so, alpha isn't working for me. Cheers
  14. I have a material already applied to a blender mesh. When I hit export to 3dCOat only the mesh comes in..no material. Am I doing something wrong?
  15. Actually I hadn't set the correct render mode settings. Having done so though, the image was still wrong, but I played with the 'Color Ramp' in the roughness settings to get it to look pretty similar. All looks pretty identical now! Thanks
  16. You are right. I hadnt selected anything. Many Thanks. Now I have the exchange working though my objects / materials are quite different between apps. Have I done something wrong?
  17. Thanks. Okay, but now when I hit transfer nothing happens. I have 3dcoat open. Do I need to set up all the folders in APplink Settings too? If so what do I use for exchange folder and the object/texture folder? Cheers
  18. Thanks but in the first part of the video it shows the 3dCoat menu appearing top left under the tool. When I enable the applink I dont see anything.. see image.. EDIT: OH wait. I just read your email properly. Press N and the link is there. I see it. Thanks!
  19. Hi, I'm completely lost here. I cant even get the exchange link working. -What do I use for the exchange folder path? -Where is the update button/s? In the tutorials this seems to be in 'scene'/3dCoat but now there are justr 3dCoat settings there. -No links to documentation in Blender. Cheers
  20. Hi all, using the above method I was able to rename all my textures and then (and only then) export ALL of them using... Textures>Export>Diffuse Map>UvSet=Save All Textures Thank you all !! I do think it would be good though if textures could be renamed also in the Edit>Mesh & Texture Resolution window (Which they can, but they are just not saved)
  21. Okay great. I'll try later and report back to see if renaming them allows me to actually export them.
  22. They (materials) seem to be called 'phong1' phong2 etc while my textures themselves are called DiffuseUV.
  23. These commands don't work with multiple sub objects. I've tried the commands from both the paint rooms and the UV rooms but they have the same effct. Only 2 out of 4 textures get exported. I know this works with a single object/texture but I can't get it to work with multiple imported objects. Where can I rename the textures in the UV room?
  24. 4.1.17D Hi, I have several (4) sub objects in my scene. There are 2 problems: 1. When I try to rename any of my 4 textures maps using Edit>Mesh & Texture Resolution this doesn't actually seem to apply itself to the texture map and the old names are retained. 2. When I try to export all my textures using Textures>Export>Diffuse Map>UvSet=Save All Textures, only 2 of the 4 are actually exported. Are these bugs or am I doing something wrong. If they are bugs I'd like to know how everybody has gotten this far without noticing Surely renaming & exporting textures is quite an important part of the software? Cheers P.S Additionally, if I just export the complete object, only 2 of the 4 textures get exported.
