  1. Absolutely. I have only just seen your reply Timmy but after AbnRangers' response I looked at options again and found 'To Global Space' and it worked. I had noticed that although the plane showed correct in Voxel room, switching to Retopo showed it was in displaced position. I don't know why or how but resetting in global space repositioned it correctly. Hope anyone else encountering this finds this answer. Thanks both for the help.
  2. Marble perhaps you could advise where you got the Zbrush 'trial' as I wanted to try out Zbrush but was unable to find a trial of Zbrush from Pixologic? Surprised you were interested as its well over twice the price of 3DC pro and the educational version is less than $100!
  3. Hi, I'm following Psmiths Rat tutorials and very good they are for newbie. However, I have a problem I cannot find an answer too. When RETOPOing the rat the symetry plane jumps to the right side resulting incorrect/incomplete mesh. I have tried resetting plane manually when it happens and even locking plane in place. Even when I get the plane to display correctly right until the mesh has been generated the plane then jumps to side and mesh is wrong! I am using version 4.0.03 (and also tried latest 4.0.06A) to no avail. Is there some obvious thing I am missing in this version as the vids were made with 3.5x I believe. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. Sooo much to learn, so little time ha ha. Thanks guys, busy filling my head with numerous videos... no time left to experiment. Using a trial version at moment, its not telling me how many days I have left (too use the trial I mean). Trying to decide which version to buy before price goes up end of the month! take care.
  5. Thanks for your response Carlosan, and the info. I have already read the link you provide but it does not answer the question regarding using 3DC through STEAM or independantly, offline. I will email sales as you suggest. Thanks again.
  6. Hey Guys, I just got interested in 3DC which seems pretty impressive and good value too compared to the competition. I live in the UK and have been interested in 3D art and animation for ever, first buying LW5.6 in late 90's! Due to work and family etc. have found it hard to make progress and am now too old to embark on any sort of career but can still have fun with 3D. Recently I just started using Blender again and now at version 2.6xx I think its a great program and really impressed with the community. I hoping to use 3DC with it and have found various vids on youtube and here which are great. PS: I already posted dumb question on 'new users' without intro myself so hope I did not offend anyone- sorry. Regards Steve
  7. Hi All, Sorry if my question appeared basic. I guess what I really want is to know whether I would need the Pro version as a newbie or whether the edu would be sufficient for all my needs? I not going to make game assets so it would be good to have unlimited textures but there is considerable difference in price on steam for the benefit of layers alone if I don't need them. PLEASE can I get some opinions as to how many would go for the basic version first. Also have read various posts regarding buying on STEAM but still cannot find out whether I would have to run 3dc from within steam AND whether I would have to be online to run 3dc. I want to run 3dc as a stand alone application without using steam like any other app you purchase. It seems steam is selling at reduced price because they want people to use it for their games! I emailed STEAM couple days ago to ask this and they have not replied-what a poor response . If anyone has the answer to use on steam PLEASE let me know as this is the most important thing I need to find out before buying. Thanks again Steve
  8. Hi everyone, I'm just started trying trial version of 3DC and am deciding whether to buy the educational or Pro version. I am completely new to sculpting/painting apps like this and zbrush but have used Lightwave and Blender etc. I understand the limitations on edu. version regards commercial use and textures but cannot fully appreciate the 7 layer limit as the trial version is unlimited and I want to make a decision quickly before price goes up in few days. I know it relates to paint layers which are similar to PS; does it mean there can be no more than 7 in total in a project or 7 for blending any textures together. I am not expecting to do any commercial work (as obvious by my ignorance) but wondering if this limit is likely to be of any relevance to me for personal use. I would be grateful if anyone could shed some more light on this for me. Thanks a lot Steve
