  1. I am teaching myself MAYA and building a pterodactyl. Admittedly, I am hurrying and taking shortcuts, but I have a situation where, when adding arms and legs, they move up and down through the wing membrane. This would be the perfect place to be able to paint some extra voxel volumn. I thought I could export the model from MAYA as an .obj and import into 3D COAT. 'Seems not so. Could someone tell me which MAYA format to export as, and which 3D COAT to import as? Thanks.
  2. I found this whilst poking around on the web. It's minuscule white worm that lives in and around the thermal vents at extremely deep places. It has languished in a folder and I re-found it last night as I was updating, organizing and purging old stuff. When I saw it again, I thought to myself, "Here is a creature that fairly begs to be sculpted in 3dC. (There's a good deal of empty white space at the far left of the pic. Use the slider bar to center.) .
  3. Damn! Just when I needed them most. Thanks, tho'.
  4. I can stretch/extend the UI across two monitors, But I can't go 'Full Screen' on the left and drag toolbars over to the right monitor. Is there a place/setting in 3dC that will let that happen? Thanks.
  5. I can now drag and drop the named parts. But the layers marked with lines are all multiple parts. How do I reveal the composite layers and get to the other bits? Also: Left and Right Arm only installs the upper arm but not lower or hand. Same with Legs. You can get the upper leg part, but not calves and feet.
  6. I tried right-clicking on the layer and exporting it. It took me to the 3dC>Samples folder. I named it and saved as an .obj. When I click on the 'plus' sign in the Body Parts, I again go to the same Samples folder, but the part (MIDSECTION) is not there.
  7. Well...We're close. But the individual layers don't want to break loose. Do I need to hold a key down while I drag and drop?
  8. I found the Windows>Body_Parts, but this is all that's there:
  9. I can't find Body Parts in any of the drop-down menus, and didn't see it on the Downloads page. Could someone point me to it? Thanks.
  10. I tried to paint a straight line across the top of a shoe as a shoelace. Each time I got a line twice, or three times, the size I expected. Finally, after many tries, I got a sufficiently tiny brush and got the stroke I wanted. I thought it was just a matter of brush choice, and I tried several and got the same result. After settling with the shoelace, I tried to paint in with the Sphere tool. The pic. shows my brush size and the elliptical shape I got when I clicked. I gave up and installed a Primitives spheres, but what is making the brush sizes so wide?
  11. The INSTANCER worked fine. I had a long bout with trying to reduce the two halves into one layer. So far I've found the best way to reduce layers is the 'Move to...', but when I get it down to two layers, and try to move #2 onto the Root layer, everything disappears: all of the model on screen, and all layers. CTRL_Z will not restore. So I close out, don't save, and re-open. This morning, I did a 'Move to...' with only the instanced layer onto it's original. Now, at least, I have both halves on one layer and I can start smoothing. Is there any need to delete/Move the (now) un-used layers?
  12. I've sculpted myself into a bit of a corner and I need to duplicate (already done) and flip on the X-axis to get the second leg, but I can't find a UI command for it.
  13. Cool. I'll just go with that. Thanks.
  14. Is this what you're referring to? (it works!) When the default UI appears, the Models, etc., pallet is so narrow that the last word heading, Splines, (which is white) overwrites the selection arrow. (also white) .
  15. Actually, I have my key. The e-mail that I mentioned above was Andrew replying to my request. It's just that elusive window that needs finding.
  16. I did install Direct X during the install process, and closed out afterwards. (After I couldn't find the window to enter the key) and I've since opened the app. again. When does the window show up? Or, shall I just continue to use it unregistered until it prompts me?
  17. I finished installing the Tinker models, and expected to find them under "Windows' tap, but they're not there. Could someone point me to them? Thanks.
  18. I just finished installing 3dC on my laptop, but when it comes time to register, it does not present me with the window sequence to paste in my serial number. I looked at all the headings on the 3dC site (usually you can find 'register' prompts there) but nothing shows up. Could someone point me to it?
  19. I have yet to see any reference to rigging in 3dC. Yet I recall seeing something in all the stuff I looked at before purchase that seemed to indicate it's possible. I remember seeing little green dots at pivot points.
  20. The deed is done! Even got an e-mail reply from the boss last night. Now that's customer service!
  21. WOW! That's great. Do I just repeat the download process, and use the same serial number?
  22. If I wanted a second copy of 3dC on my laptop so I can model away from home, I'm assuming I'll need a second license. Yes?
