  1. I think you might be right. I'll try out some variations. The more I read about character design the more I want to change the shape of his face!
  2. I can see where you're coming from on the front view. That definitely wouldn't have occurred to me thank you! Thanks for this. I'm currently reading a couple of books on character design and they go into this quite a bit. It's a bit late to start changing shapes but my next character will certainly have more thought put into it. What do you guys think of the latest render? He's currently sporting a healthier tan than he should be I'm still experiments with SSS Shaders for the first time. Also the white of the eye is quite dark I've still yet to work out why. Rendered with Mental Ray
  3. Thanks very much for your responses. I have started to use padding but I don't think that's the issue as the now working one doesn't have padding. I have a sneaky suspicion that it was actually something I did in Maya as opposed to 3D coat. This was actually the post I was referring to in the OP but thanks for your consideration anyway
  4. Nice work! Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
  5. Update: I re-exported the model from 3D coat and re-set it up and it worked fine. If anyone knows why it might have happened that would be useful to know too. Thanks!
  6. So when I apply my uv's to my 3D coat model in Maya I get really bad UV seams as shown here (Maya software render): I have seen this mentioned in a previous post and the reply was to turn off smoothing groups. However, even after some research, I'm not entirely sure what this means. If anyone could shed some light on this I would much appreciate it!
  7. Hi I'm having a bit of an issue with export the retop mesh that seems like a simple fix but I can't fathom it. Basically in 3D coat the model is centred perfectly. However, when I export it into Maya (I do File > export Retop Mesh) the model is off centre (as is the pivot). Also, when I select some verts in Maya and look at the component editor there doesn't appear to be any positioning information. Anyone know what could be causing this?
  8. Thanks! Any ideas how I could make it more sinister?
  9. Again thanks for your advice I see they do look too small now. Also, I just caught your signature... very nice system!
  10. OK I've made some adjustments and wondered if I could get some opinions... The proportions of the body are intentionally off but i'd like to know if you guys think it works.
  11. v. nice! Have you been sculpting long?
  12. I really like the hair on the latest post nicely done! Also like the style of the eye lashes on the girl in the original post
  13. Thanks you very much for your reply. Yea I included some edgeloops around the mouth area because I failed at sculpting in the lips so was going to attempt it in Maya. I can find tutorials on how to sculpt lips in Zbrush and that has helped me in the past but with this being much less anatomically correct I wasn't sure how to approach it. Do you know of any learning material that might help here?
  14. Character I'm working on for a 15 Second short me and a few guys are working on. It's supposed to be 'a cowboy villain in a cartoony style'. First successful attempt at rendering inside 3D coat was pleasantly surprised. Any advice is more than welcome.
