  1. That seems to have got it, thanks Carlosan. I thought it'd probably be something simple I hadn't noticed.
  2. I haven't used 3DC for a while and can't seem to find anything on this. If I take a model into 3DC to do the UVs on it and then import it back into Blender the object won't use smooth shading while the original still does. I seem to remember there being something to do with smoothing on export but I can't see it anymore under the list. Is there something I'm doing wrong elsewhere or am I just overlooking something obvious?
  3. That seems to have got it, it's no longer crashing. Although that's just odd considering I'd been doing the retopo by hand and had no ngons on the mesh.
  4. I'm doing the retopo on a model but after I've unwrapped and go to bake it keeps crashing during the baking process with "out of virtual memory". Before I start baking I have around 1GB of memory free. I've had this problem previously and followed this to fix it: http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=893 however on this model it happens with every time I try to bake. Is there any other way to increase the memory further or is 1GB more than enough?
  5. I may have spoke a little too soon. The symmetry has been fixed but now something odd has started with the brushes. If I use buildup on the right side the intensity on the left side is higher and if I use it on the left side it's lower on the right.
  6. Worked perfectly, thanks gents. Was afraid I'd have to start that part from scratch again for a moment there.
  7. I probably should have noted that. My bad. I'm using version 4.5.19
  8. I've noticed that loading up 3DC today my symmetry plane is a bit off centre on one section of my model but no matter what I'm doing I can't seem to get it go back down the centre line. I've tried "to global space" along with uniform and also tried moving and rotating the model itself but it just doesn't seem to be doing anything. I must have done something with it since during the rest of the sculpt on that piece it was perfectly symmetrical, although I'm not too sure what I'd have done. Here's a screenshot of where the symmetry plane goes down it and if anyone could give me some pointers on this it'd be much appreciated. https://gyazo.com/5ec91be4c1676be77c227fdbb42d3faf
  9. Haven't posted on these forums in ages and just got back into using 3DC after upgrading my licence. First time posting any WIP anywhere but thought I'd actually give it a shot for once. Still need to start on the human part of it and also get some legs in.
  10. I've went with decimation in surface mode, upped the amount of polys from 20k to 30k with "decimate if above" set at 35k and used a few guides around the eyes, mouth and nose and ended up with this afterwards: http://gyazo.com/aff4715329b4c7569dc835c5e3809c18 If I turn symmetry off then the only problem is the two polys missing at the hip and chest area, but I'm really confused why symmetry is causing the fingers to have polys attached to the body and one side perfectly fine but the other to have the fingers missing in places.
  11. Hey guys, I'm having a slight problem with auto retopology and was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction with where I'm going wrong? I've mostly been using manual retopology lately but after watching some videos on autopo on youtube I thought I'd give it another try. But unfortunately something seems to be going horribly wrong with it. Here's the mesh with the guide strokes on it (not 100% sure if my guides are right or if I need more/less) with symmetry turned on: http://gyazo.com/ee1d12956a73a47f9ddf5c1476106499 And here is the end result: http://gyazo.com/0ab5d354e4ef2fafdd2d0ba4df9de368 I'm more than likely guessing I'm at fault with this but I haven't really got much of an idea what it is I'm doing wrong. The mesh has either been ending up looking like that, looking similar to the actual shape with some polys in odd places like being attached from the stomach to the fingers or it hasn't created a mesh at all. If it helps, I'm using the 4.5 Beta.
  12. I've ran into this problem several times, both on the stable release and on the 4.5 Beta. After baking and moving over to the paint room the whole mesh is completely black and can't be painted on, along with the normal maps also being completely blank. When I hide the ambient occlusion layer it can be painted on, but it looks terrible since there's no normal map on it. The baking shells for both inner and outer have been fine and I've found the only way to get around this is by uninstalling 3DC and installing it again. But it's becoming a pretty regular thing and it's a bit irritating having to keep doing that. This also seems to happen at random times, if I'm breaking a model up into pieces, like body and clothes, the first one works perfectly fine and then when I go to start painting the second after retopo it ends up like this while the first still looks fine in the paint room. Does that happen to anyone else and is there a better way of sorting it out rather than the method I'm using?
  13. I managed to fix it by reinstalling 3DC, not really sure what could have happened with it. But at least it's working again.
  14. I'm having a bit of a problem with the warp tool and was wondering if there is a work-around for this. I figured it would be the best tool to make the posts for the edge of the deck of a ship and it worked perfectly fine for doing the steps but while trying to get the posts in place they just completely vanished. Now when I try and use the warp tool on any volume it just removes the object unless I abandon warp and go to a different tool, if I apply it then it doesn't come back. Not really too sure what to do to get it working properly again, although after it did that the first time the camera had started flipping upside down when I went into orthographic which was fixed after restarting 3DC, but it didn't change the warp problem.
  15. That definitely seems like it would be the better idea. The whole retopology thing is still pretty new to me, at the most I've only been able to make some pants with it to use for the cloth tool. I was also wondering if there's anyone around who does training over Skype or something along those lines? I usually find that helps me learn better than going through things on my own.
  16. I'm using Autopo. It doesn't really seem to matter much about what I'm doing, it always just seems to crash at that exact point. Is it what I'm doing before getting there or is there by any chance a corrupt file in my 3DC that's causing it?
  17. I'm having another slight problem with retopo again. Pretty much the same problem as before where it crashes just before it's done except this time the mesh is split into several pieces. http://gyazo.com/f38a7d0cf2aec863b7d4fe1eb4f672bd It's the teeth with this one that don't seem to be working out well and I'm really unsure what to do with it. It manages to make it up to here but as soon as I click Ok it just crashes without saying anything: http://gyazo.com/ca5a8a256fe28f100d6205398fc4fd48
  18. Looks like it was fairly simple in Blender, just selecting all the pieces and joining them together. Atleast I hope that was the way to do it, when I imported it into Leadwerks all the textures were still in the right spots so it looks like it's done the trick. Thanks for all the help. Feel like I'm just about getting the hang of this now.
  19. While I wasn't able to split the mesh in 3DC I was able to break it up into several pieces in Blender and it seems to have worked for getting each area done. I've had a few crashes along the way but it seems to be working out okay. I've managed to reduce the polycount down to around 20,000 now. which now looks like this: http://gyazo.com/13da7a39688e22f5677f95cb98228a2b I'm a little unsure on how to merge all of these together, but I can just parent/child them when I get them into Leadwerks. Thanks for your help Javis.
  20. Hi Javis, thanks for the quick response. I'm using Version 4.1.17 so it looks like I'm using the latest one. Just restricted to the educational license. The model is all just one layer, mostly because I was unsure how to merge them all together afterwards. When trying to merge visible I tend to get an error. This is about as far as I can make it with autopo before it bails out: http://gyazo.com/de2ac0e02c2917ca77d6c8702db30bb2
  21. I'm pretty new to 3DC and have been using Blender for roughly around 7 or 8 months now. Retopology isn't something I really ended up getting into with Blender and the auto-retopology in 3DC was pretty much one of the main selling points for me. I'm however coming across a pretty big problem with some models more than others, and can't really figure out why. Just after it's finished being retopologised 3DC crashes on me too fast to be able to make out the error. Would someone be able to point me in the right direction with where I'm possibly going wrong? The model is just under 2 million polys so I'm not sure whether that's factoring into it. Here's a quick screenshot if it's of any help: http://gyazo.com/635dd72c220ed4dd1e35404d88c524f8 Thanks.
