  2. is there a way to rotate a background reference image not a full 90 cw , ccw I don't get the outside corner bent arrows to adjust slightly clockwise/counter . I must be missing something. using 4.5.03 ver.

  4. my thoughts on the web page layout. I would like to be able to collapse the Images, Topics, and Post headers. The Topics and Post Headers I don't need at all. Having the same information in 3 different areas is redundant . thank you for the dark theme

  6. looks great I was hoping for a solid wheel/disc that you would spin like a old airplane propellers to get it started . it reminded of a older hay bailer engine. really coming along nicely .
  7. a Long thin blank bar say the length of all the vox tools or at the whole bottom of the tool option panel would be right there as to Close out after you hit Apply . I am always scrolling up to smooth as to not have another tool option pop up if say I click on sphere to just close out . or put it as its own window as to be able to move it around and close out . Is there a short cut Key for this I don't know about? Perhaps the next Contest could be your idea of a streamlined / what your UI would be . mine would have a Lock radius / brush size box [] meaning you could set it to stay at say .250 .maybe a beta build has this already?
  8. I too have fallen victim to this . I would be so what is going on here and close out and re-try walk away then try again then finally realize to close it.
  9. that mesh/netting looks great how you get it so thin and spaced right is that free handed? what brush radius did u use 4.50 . just me but the 2 stacks could be bigger /wider like queen mary big . also how many triangles when doing net looks to be at 350,000 . Looks great so far. also how it repeats the form

  11. Houdini is on my radar . just watched intro -06-modelling 1st time watching any Houdini tutorial in the obj/table Nodes he uses a Merge node as to be able to view both table top and legs . Does this make them both all one object or is it just a visual thing. Can you Group nodes and save as presets for later /other projects? I will have to you tube some more videos or download a trial when I have free time to try.
  12. sums up 3d coat almost every area of the program has something to fix even default 101 basic cube . Not to worry there is always a work around .
  13. up in the E Panel choose the vertex lasso . Then click once to start HOLD SHIFT an that will snap to 90,45 as you move it about.. you could also turn on the 2d grid and snap to 2d grid options under VIEW. You will probably want Orthographic Projection to be on for a straight cut off.

Up top there are three color balls the blue one which is depth is turned off (it has a X on it) click it as to allow depth. and change the % yours right now is at 24 the video looks to be 40 higher number = more depth/bump. or just the opposite you have the blue / depth on and you don't want the bumps click it to turn off my bad .
  15. starts off very slow I almost didn't make it to the action that 1st say 40 seconds could of been used to set up each pilot as so I can connect/identify whos who , the photo ,add color id,etc. The art,music and animation is spot on its the layout and timeline of the short that needs work . Not sure i could watch a whole movie with the over use of air streams but I did enjoy watching . I wonder also what list of software was used . I can just imagine the number of man hours on this class project.
  16. I know in the 4.5.03 build ( cuda dx64 win 8.1 ) that after you have the Ambient Occlusion Layer ( for Smart Material ) if you try to delete that Layer 3dc will crash . This is fixed in a later version don't know which build you are using for the trail run?
  17. Hey Michaelgdrs , a added ? (part2) to Sketchup ? That gets all your parts/objects in but to move them around where you want . I use the Tweak Room now using the select/transform tool to Paint select a area ( I wish you could just select each object as a whole with 1 click ) . Just wondering what is the best way . As of now I bake material in 3dc then I export the object into Blender bring in all the separate parts set up / put all the parts together into a scene then join all objects as 1 and reimport to 3dc ppp> render. As always thank you for your time.
  18. you don't have your Layers Menu active. Go up to the header next to Geometry is Windows left click it and a drop down list .click on Popups > then find Layers. I also have Paint Objects active.
  19. I don't know which build your using I have 4.5.03 and if you right click on say layer 2 you should see a drop list with layer blending. I am also wondering what the Blending button next to the Layers is on the header im guessing you have a newer build then i.

Hey Blaster I was/am looking to upgrade also and its going to be either gtx 960 4gigs V ram or a gtx 980 the gtx 970 had not so good as in my notes when looking around forget why I think bottleneck pipe line at least in substance painter forum if I remember . I don't know in 3dc. Always check to power input too. as of now I have a onboard Nividia GTX745 .
  21. just to be sure your not talking about a Reference Image but the Backgound itself.
  22. If you are in the Render Room Next to [camera] > drop down list > Background > and try Vertical Gradient . This does not change it.. also which version are you using 4.5.03 ? and op system win8.1 ?
  23. if the penpack is in .3dcpack file format then go to FILE >Install Extension ... then find your penpack file . you may have to restart 3dcoat once after.
  24. I just did your same setup with 4.5.03 cuda dx64 and it works fine. It could be that version .
