  1. utopious Thanks for replying. I almost jumped out of my seat at the 89 Euros price. If it were any lower, my bowels would deliver. Will take your tip and wait. Thank you very much. Pat
  2. ok, decided to upgrade to the 2021 version. I have a full licence for 3D Coat V4. Just checked on the site, it says the upgrade for 2021 is 89 Euros (about $100) Is this correct, or is there something I have missed with the pricing upgrade? Any info would be much appreciated Thanks Pat Lane.
  3. Hello. Today i have started to get messages as soon as i load my file into 3D Coat. I have inserted the messages below. Perhaps others 3DC users are having this same issue? I purchased a full licence several years ago and periodically installed the updates, not sure where this 'beta version' came from. These messages tell me that at some point on one of the updates must have loaded a new set of tools which are time stamped to disappear in the near future. It also tells me that the layers will also disappear, 'a feature that swayed me to buy 3DC in the first place'. So i have a full 'paid for' version of 3D Coat that is about to be ripped apart and turned into a 30 day Trial. And to top it all, the price to upgrade to the 2021 version is as clear as mud. Can i roll back 3DC to a version that does not have these beta tools incorporated within the update and keep my layers, or is buy the new 2021 3DC or nothing? Pat Lane.
  4. Thanks for the reply. You have reminded me of the several old 3DCoat versions i also had cluttering up my C: Drive. It all comes back now. Thank you very much ryivhnn. Pat Lane
  5. Hello. I am still running 3D COAT 4.804 and find there is a newer version. Could anyone direct me to the upgrade process, in particular how to re-licence the software once i have run the upgrade. Thanks. Pat Lane :)
  6. Thank you Digman. Have just loaded the beta version. All sculpt tools working. Pat.
  7. Hello. Has anyone come across a problem with some of the sculp tools not working in version 4.5.Fill and Smooth? Have recently upgraded my graphics card but unsure that this the cause of the problem. I have command of all the sculpt tools in version 4.1 so scratching my head why there is a problem in 4.5 It is odd that I can get round it by using the smoother and flute tool (which do work)? Very odd. Any ideas. Thanks. Pat.
  8. Hello all again. New graphics card installed 3DC 4.1 working fantastic (Slight problem with 4.5 but will put info into another thread) Cant believe i am actually sculpting in 3DC. Its a real nice bit of kit Thanks all again. Pat.
  9. Yes. Thank you all. There is a light at the end of this tunnel, and perhaps ringing tills and dollar signs down at the computer shops tunnel. SOLUTION: " I have to buy a better graphics card".. So thank you, Michelgdrs, Carlosan, Tony Nemo, Balistic_Tension, Digman, Ma3rk for all your help and patients. Michaelgdrs, you were 100% spot on. I am now officially hooked on 3D Coat Pat
  10. Thank you all very much for your ideas and very useful tips but after killing my pc last night with graphic driver updates, i.e DirectX and Open GL i believe the problem will be solved with the introduction of a shiny new graphics card with 'trigglagytes' of RAM on board. Having only used the Retopo room for the last several month until realising 3D Coat was much 'MUCH' more than that did the problem present itself. Soo, without further adoo.. I'm off down the shops to look at graphics cards Thank you very much for your help. Pat
  11. Ma3rK. Yes, this is another possibility i am looking into. Updating my video drivers, and as i type i have murdered my pc with the directx update. The rollback took 3DCoat and Sculptris along with it?? I am so looking forward to trying the Open GL update..lol. Could mean a new video card is required. Thanks. Pat.
  12. Thank you Digman. I believe i need lessons in the obvious. should have clicked on the tab long before now. Attached is a file i saved as vase.obj. its parent model was the cylinder.obj from the 3D Coat directory itself. I can re-import it into the sculpt room, click apply, select a tool and it vanishes it. I can import the file, autopo the model and import the retopo mesh into the sculpt foom, click apply and again it vanishes it. What i have found that may mean nothing but possibly worth a mention is when i try using some of the options in the voxel tab it says that i am still in proxy mode? Does that imply anything.. Thanks. Pat vase.obj
  13. Hello Digman. Thanks for replying. All the OBJ models i am selecting for import into the Sculpt Room are located in the 3D Coat\Samples directory and the Objpen Directory, The one i have been using mostly is 'Cylinder.obj. I can import this file into Truespace, Poser, Sculptris, UV Mapper Pro Blender, Daz and manipulate it without any problem. I did think that the file was possibly being corrupted within 3D Coat but after importing and exporting to and from everything else i believe it is not the file causing the problem but lands on the shoulder of either my machine or 3D Coat itself. I can send you the file to see if there are any descrepancies with the one you have, unfortunately i cant find the 'Use Full Editor' option. Would you be able to give directions. Thanks. Pat.
  14. Apologies, Another bit of information that may be of use is that after selecting a sculpt tool and the model dissapears, the brush of the selected tool seems to follow the shape of the invisible model as though the object is still there? Regards. Pat
  15. I have a similar problem when importing into the Voxel/Sculpt room. Where after clicking 'apply' and selecting a sculpting tool, the model completely dissapears. I have watched the 3D Coat overview videos kindly supplied by AbnRanger, although informative in the way of which room is related to each other the video's do not give any insight into dissapearing models in the sculpt room or what is causing the dissapearance. Any light onto this baffling nag would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Pat.
  16. Hello again. Have uninstalled both versions of 3D Coat, deleted all the files in the document folder and reinstalled version 4.1.17D. I am now importing just the basic preset OBJ models that come with 3D Coat into the Sculpt Room, i.e Cylinder, Square, Sphere..etc. I have imported basic preset models using both the Start up splash screen, and selecting from the File/Import menu. On all imports the voxel tree shows Two layers, Root and Volume. I have added another Volume layer on seperate tests for importing the model. I have tried changing from 'S' Surface representstion back to 'V' Voxel representation during different import tests. I have clicked on both 'Yes and No' on the 'Keep Initial Scale' option when importing the model into the Sculpt room. I have tried saving the file into its native 3B format and re opening the file. All this running the software as both normal and as administrator. The model dissapears when i click on any one of the sculpting tools. I think i have covered all equations for importing the model, unless there are any other tricks anyone can share. I am not sure what the next option is, unless i open a ticket with the support team. Thanks. Pat
  17. Hello again. Sorry to be such a pest to all OK. i have all the rooms behaving themselves with the exception of the sculpt room, and this by forgetting the golden rule of 'Right click 3D Coat, Run As Administrator!!'.. I had a monumental epiphany early this morning to go try it. So running as administrator has solved the sparkly lines and strobe effects, freezing screens, crashing etc. Running the new version 4.5 is a dream....except for the minor problem of accessing the voxel sculpt tools before my model dissapears. (In both versions). I do still intend to uninstall and reinstall as i believe one possible cause lies with whatever 3D Coat 4.1 has moved into my USER/DATA 'May' have become confused or corrupted and has crossed over to the new 4.5 version during the data migration process. Anothe possible cause is that i have read on one of the threads here that i can only run one version of the software on one PC at any one time. I am running 4.1 and 4.5 (Not at the same time of course) Perhaps i should delete one version and try working on the problem on the 4.5 version. It is a habit i have to run both software versions until i am convinced the latter is working correctly. At present i am running both Poser Pro 2014 and 11 until i am sure there are no problems. I would like to upload the model and add screenshots but the tools in the forum do not allow me to do this. Is there another way i can share. Thanks. Pat
  18. Hello. Back again. Carlosan: Have tried importing with initial scale both clicking yes and no but doesnt make much difference. Michaelgdrs: There has been slight success with importing into the sculpt room and adding another layer but this only works when adding a texture onto the model. Infortunately the model (my sphere) becomes infested with animated pixels and emits straight coloured moving lines to the outer frame of the page? However, with this animated light show going on 'I CAN' actually select the voxel tools and sculpt the model sphere through all the moving dancing pixels. Very odd behaviour? I can make another video later if you like. Thanks Pat
  19. Apologies for the delay. I am unable to figure out how to upload it into the forum so have threw it up on Youtube. Here is the link to the video, unfortunately without sound. I have added bullet points below to tell you where i am clicking and pointing throughout the process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UmyPUiGWDQ&feature=youtu.be 1.Minimise the screen capture software. 2. Startup 3D Coat. 3. From the splash screen select Voxel Sculpting. 4. Select the Folder 5. Select the OBJ model for import into 3D Coat. 6. Once in i see the model is not aligned with the Gizmo 7. Click APPLY. 8. Click YES to first time importing. 9. Click To Bound Centre. 10. Click Apply again. 11. Select Draw Tool. 12. Model Dissapears. 13. Scroll down tools options Select Import. 14. Model comes on to screen. 15. This time i Do not click to Bound Centre and just click apply. 16. Select a different tool (Pinch). 17. Model Dissapears. I have imported several different models in the same way. Even to save it as a 3B file and open it in 3D coat that way. I have gone into the Voxel Menu at the top of the screen and selected the Unhide Option. Although it vanishes off the screen the very bottom information bar shows a count of vertices still present. Many Thanks. Pat
  20. Thank You Ballistic_Tension and Tony Nemo for replying so quickly. Unfortunately pressing the apply button in the tools menu seems not to work as it should. The model still insists on dissapearing even after pressing either the enter key or the apply button, or both, singular in different combinations. 3D Coat is now freezing when i try to create a new document after importing a model in the sculpt room so i am of mind to uninstall and reinstall to see if the problem persists. Thanks. Pat.
  21. Hello. Pat 'Newbie' Lane here again. Have a small problem with the sculpt room, in that i can import a model into the sculpt room, scale it, move it on the axis's, pan, tilt, magnify.. but as soon as i click on any of the voxel tools it dissapears? The only way i can see it again is to import it from the objects tab down the left hand side. Again, i select a voxel tool and it dissapears again. I am running version 4.1.17D (DX64)(Educational) I have already upgraded to the latest version but seems to have the same nag...and then goes a little further with a full software crash. went back to ver 4.1 as it seems to be a little more stable and i can use the tweak room to sculpt on a limited basis. Any guidance will be much appreciated. Thanks. Pat.
  22. Hellooooo. Newbie Member here Last year i purchased the Educational version of 3D Coat. Not to be hailed as 'frugal' as i do intend to upgrade to the Pro version sometime this year. My educational version is at 4.1 so when i click on the update in the help it tells me there is version 4.5 BETA available. My question is 'would this new 4.5 version upgrade my lesser educational version or is it only for the Pro and Roaming licence versions? Has anyone else with the EDU version upgraded with any problems before i click the button? Thanks in advance. Pat
  23. Thank You Tony Nemo. Help much appreciated. I consider this case closed. And 'you' a god. Until the next irritatingly silly question.. Pat Lane
  24. Hello. Just purchased the latest version (educational) and maybe too eager to learn. Although i am slooging my way through the tutorial and watching every youtube video on 3D Coat's Retopo room i seem to be missing something? After importing a model, turning on the symmetry plane, creating my mesh and exporting, i seem to be only getting half the mesh? Now while i can go into another 3D package, mirror my mesh and weld it together i am sure there is something i am not doing with 3D Coat to give me the full mesh? Would be greatful for any slap in the face to know how to do it correctly. Thanks. Pat Lane
