  1. Thanks Digman, Wow. What a reply. I will have to do some studying of 3D Coat as a lot of what you told me to check sounds like Greek to someone who rarely uses 3D Coat. I can't thank you enough for taking all that time to help me. I am having a lot of problems with the program only because of my ignorance of the basics. Yes I did mean 4096.
  2. I guess it is pretty small. Thanks Oleg!
  3. I set the Falloff to 0 as you show, but it is still smooth. I thank you for your reply.
  4. I have selected a brush that seems to have a hard edge in the thumbnail but when I paint with it it is still very soft edged. How can I make it more hard edged? Thanks
  5. Thank you for the reply ebitz. That worked great. Got the texture maps loaded in. Now I need to find a good tutorial on the paint window in 3D Coat. How to control brush effects; hard edge, soft edge blending, stroke length and stroke tapering etc. But the hardest part is behind me now. Thanks again.
  6. I have finally, after some struggles, figured out how to use the new AppLink for Blender and 3DCoat. I now have a model, a dog (with separate body, eyes, tongue, upper gums with teeth and lower gums with teeth, and toenail objects) that has all been unwrapped in Blender version 4.2 into two UDIM sets, 1001 and 1002. I have done extensive painting on the model in Blender's crude Texture Painting workspace and I don't want to lose the hundreds of hours I already have on the Image Maps. I have them all backed up, just in case. When I "Send" my model to 3D Coat 2023.40 it brings in the model , but it is blank. None of the existing painting is thee. On importing it I have it set "Keep UV" and "Import Tiles as UV Sets" is checked and all the resolutions are set to 406 as they are in Blender. How do I get the model into 3D Coat and show the existing hand painted texture I already have on it? Thanks so much for any assistance with this. 3D Coat is the best app for hand painting. Substance Painter and other apps similar are more geared for PBR texturing. It would save me umpteen hours to be able to finish painting this model in 3D Coat.
  7. I tried to get the Applink to work but I can only get it to "Send" from Blender to 3DCoat. I cannot get it back into Blender. I have tried just a simple cube with no unwrapping and no udims. I get it into 3DCoat. I put a couple of colors on it in 3DCoat. I save it as a 3b file. Then I go to Export To>Blender and save it as an fbx. And then I set my Export Presets as in the first attached picture. I set it to go to the Blender App-Link. Because in the simple cube I sent, I did not unwrap to UDIMS in Blender (I want to export and import a file with UDIMS but felt I should simply try to do the least complicated setup). I unchecked "Export UV Sets as Tiles." The result was a lot of error messages when I hit "GetBack" in Blender. I cannot take a screengrab of the error message as it stays only as long as the cursor remains over the message. And to write it out would take a couple hundred words. So that method did not work. "Open in Original App" had the same error message. Trying to use Export Objects and Textures also left me baffled with no results. I apologize for asking to be hand-held through getting this to work. 3D Coat has, by far the best tools for hand painting 3D objects. So I am frustrated that I cannot get the two programs to connect. A few years ago I had no problem as the Applink worked seamlessly. I do not understand why there are so few tutorials on this process of getting a model from Blender into 3D Coat and back again. I have been a traditional illustrator for over 55 years and that is why I want to hand-paint my model. I upgraded 3D Coat to version 2023.40 (and upgraded the Applink as it prompted me to) and am using Blender 4.02 I appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks
  8. If it is only a difference of 5 Euros per 12 mos then it is not worth just buying Textura. I might as well just maintain the entire program. Thanks marsmotion for the reply. I very much appreciate it.
  9. I own 3DCoat but really only use the Texture Painting module so I am considering buying Textura to save money on the annual maintenance fee. I do not know how much this is. Can anyone give me a link for this? Thanks
  10. This was great news Carlosan. Here are the screen grabs of how I was importing my FBX model from Blender. I Import as Object for Per Pixel Painting and set the UVs to 4096 for each set. But for some reason they were being saved as 2048 PNGs. When I went under Textures category as you showed above and set the resolution back to 4096 and it worked. Now It sits in 3D Coat at a 4096 resolution which gives me far more sharpness in my brushes at the low pixel sizes. This has made all the difference in the world. Many thanks again.
  11. I export from Blender, either as an FBX model or using the 3D Coat Applink, with UVs set in Blender to 4096 (4k) and set the texture in 3D Coat also to 4096 but when I export the texture it exports at 2048. How do I correct this? Right now I open the exported texture from 3D Coat, the PNG. in Affinity Photo, and resize the document to 4096 and it works ok i n Blender but I think I loose something when re-sizing up. How can I get the texture to export from 3D Coat at 4096?
  12. Thanks MJonathan, you are right. For some reason it imported at the wrong scale. Not sure how to reset the scale in 3D Coat.
  13. Thanks Carlosan, I forgot to click on "Follow Topic" and wasn't aware of your reply.
  14. Is there a setting in Preferences or elsewhere where I can set the size of the crosshair icon for the rotation point?
  15. I forgot to turn on Symmetry in the course of painting my dog object. Is there a way to copy the painted part from one side to the other?
