  1. OMG Awesome! Thank you so much!!! I'm stoked. Update on the camera issue I experienced: It was resolved by selecting from Camera Drop -Down "rotate around world center" I still think it should behave more naturally while using "rotate around a custom point". Apparently when in sketch mode 3D coat thinks there is nothing to select in the middle of the screen and therefore world center still works, but custom point does not.
  2. Tons of Mac users have Nvidia cards by the way. People who are into CG modeling are usually also into rendering, so tons of us have Nvidia cards and Cuda capable renderers, C4D Octane, Redshift, etc.. I have felt like the Mac users are left with a pretty buggy and unstable version overall. I wish I could say it was the Nvidia open GL drivers fault and it worked nicely otherwise, but it doesn't matter if I am using Dual DX500s on the trashcan Mac, or Dual Titan Xs on the 2012 mac Pro, I get a lot of crashes. I wish they would implement Cuda features for Mac. Back to the two topic question, shouldn't the sketch tool have geometry previews even on the Mac, and why does the camera not orbit around object null during Sketch tool? Are we saying that feature faces a driver issue? Is the feature buggy on Mac, or works on other people's with Mac? Are there any settings related to these two things that might help?
  3. Can you link me to the GL Version? When I look at the beta download, or the main download page, only one version is offered for OSX. ( I don't see it for Windows, Linux either) I found some old posts talking about GL, C, S ,DX verisons, but I don't find those links anywhere. The video driver is as up to date as the OSX is 10.10.2 Apple doesn't release video drivers, they are built into the OS. I have a second mac pro 2012 computer with Nvidia cards, same issues there, and up-to-date drivers from Nvidia there also. If I am supposed to be using different versions for each, I would love to find those links. Edit: Maybe .exe versions come with multiple launch files, but the Mac version just has one. I don't which version is under the hood. One other thought, I remember when I first bought 3D coat asking some questions, and being told Cuda features weren't implemented on mac builds. Thanks,
  4. 2 Questions about Sketch Tool in 3D coat. I'm using 4.7 stable and 4.73 beta on a 2013 Mac pro, 10.10.2 and coming up with these two problems. (and same problems in older versions) I see some awesome videos of people using the sketch tool online and they are getting live interaction with geometry results instantly visible. Even the how-to tip mentions that you start with a cube because all sides are filled. When I go to use the sketch tool, I do not see the 3D cube or other resulting geometry unless I first hit "apply". That is a frustrating difference, is there some setting I need to change to see the geometry ahead of hitting apply? When I am in the sketch tool the camera will not orbit around the center object, but instead makes wide swings, making it very frustrating trying to rotate to each axis. What is the deal there? As soon as I switch to a different modeling tool the camera issue goes away. I have tried adjusting navigating preferences, and I don't see any difference in the behavior, and as I've said when I'm on any other tool the camera nav feels normal and fine, but just in sketch mode it is very strange and hard to navigate. Something I can do to fix? I'm going to make a short screen capture and attach so you can see the behavior. Please help! Thanks sketch behavior.mp4
  5. I seem to get a lot of crashes, sometimes for no apparent reason. I would doubt it's the cuda or web drivers as everything else with my rig works great. (Cinema 4D, Zbrush, Sculptris, Octane, Thea, Element 3D) on a Titan X and GTX 980. But how do I even know if 3DC is seeing my cuda functionality for the voxel functions? I thought I had read somewhere that 3DC can now use Cuda, Opencl or CPU mode but I don't seem to have any options anywhere. How do I know if it's working or which 'kernel' I'm getting? What's the frequency Kenneth? I'm using the latest version of 3DC with: Mac OS X 10.10.5 Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro5,1 Processor Name: 6-Core Intel Xeon Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz Number of Processors: 2 Total Number of Cores: 12 L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB L3 Cache (per Processor): 12 MB Memory: 40 GB Processor Interconnect Speed: 6.4 GT/s Boot ROM Version: MP51.007F.B03 SMC Version (system): 1.39f11 SMC Version (processor tray): 1.39f11 Cuda Driver Version 7.5.25 Web driver is up to date 346.02.03f01 NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN X: Name: NVDA,Display-F Type: Display Controller Driver Installed: Yes MSI: Yes Bus: PCI Slot: Slot-1 Vendor ID: 0x10de Device ID: 0x17c2 Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x10de Subsystem ID: 0x0010 ROM Revision: MacVidCards Revision ID: 0x00a1 Link Width: x16 Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980: Name: NVDA,Display-F Type: Display Controller Driver Installed: Yes MSI: Yes Bus: PCI Slot: Slot-3 Vendor ID: 0x10de Device ID: 0x13c0 Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x3842 Subsystem ID: 0x0010 ROM Revision: MacProFX.io Revision ID: 0x00a1 Link Width: x4 Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s DIMM 1: Size: 8 GB Type: DDR3 ECC Speed: 1333 MHz Status: OK Manufacturer: 0x85F7 Part Number: 0x463732314755363546393333334700520000 Serial Number: - DIMM 2: Size: 8 GB Type: DDR3 ECC Speed: 1333 MHz Status: OK Manufacturer: 0x85F7 Part Number: 0x463732314755363547393333334700520000 Serial Number: - DIMM 3: Size: 4 GB Type: DDR3 ECC Speed: 1333 MHz Status: OK Manufacturer: 0x857F Part Number: 0x463732353155363446393333334700000000 Serial Number: - DIMM 4: Size: Empty Type: Empty Speed: Empty Status: Empty Manufacturer: Empty Part Number: Empty Serial Number: Empty DIMM 5: Size: 8 GB Type: DDR3 ECC Speed: 1333 MHz Status: OK Manufacturer: 0x85F7 Part Number: 0x463732314755363546393333334700520000 Serial Number: - DIMM 6: Size: 8 GB Type: DDR3 ECC Speed: 1333 MHz Status: OK Manufacturer: 0x85F7 Part Number: 0x463732314755363547393333334700520000 Serial Number: - DIMM 7: Size: 4 GB Type: DDR3 ECC Speed: 1333 MHz Status: OK Manufacturer: 0x0000 Part Number: - Serial Number: - DIMM 8: Size: Empty Type: Empty Speed: Empty Status: Empty Manufacturer: Empty Part Number: Empty Serial Number: Empty
  6. I am new to 3D coat but that is a frustrating revelation. A tool with vox should probably not convert with out some dialogue or switch box. I can appreciate the quality that mesh provides but either rename the tool or there should be a toolbar option to toggle that feature on or off. Are there other times when 3DC will need to automatically convert the mesh V & S or vice versa?
  7. Everytime I use the vox extrude tool my voxel mesh changes to a surface. This makes no sense to me since the tool is called vox extrude. Once it changes to surface mode, I can carry on using the vox extrude with expected results. However then I need to change back to voxel mode for most things, the process gets annoying. Am I missing some cavaet or is this a bug? I even reset my key commands for fear I had screwed something up...(didn't help) I am on a Mac using 10.10.5, using latest version of 3D Coat 4.5.40 Thoughts?
