  1. Hey Guys, I have just backed an awesome project on Kickstarter and was luck enough to get one of the limited $750 beta units! I am very excited about getting my Fuel 3D and thought I would make you lot aware of it. On release it will be $1500 so I have picked up a bargain! You can still get one for $990 and it will be a production ready version. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/45699157/fuel3d-a-handheld-3d-scanner-for-less-than-1000 This is going to be awesome!
  2. Hi Samardac, The issues in the first image seem to be linked to the UV mapping. Try clearing all seams in the UV room then making your own so that you have a cleaner UV layout. This may help. When ever I make a 'quickie' object in 3D Coat, to test things in unity the seams on auto UV's generally look a bit dodgy. When I create my own, I get much better results. I had a look at your 3B file and the UVs were pretty messy and disjointed. Are you also exporting objects with padding on the UV map? Cheers,
  3. Cool, I didn't know that. I am going to try hooking up my Yiynova and Leap at the same time and see what happens.
  4. Yeah, I didn't think about that. The Yiynova and the Leap fighting for control of the cursor could be an epic battle worthy of legend. I think the Yiynova would win as he sounds big an Russian (even though he isn't)
  5. Navigating in the 3d space does work pretty well. It feels a bit disjointed using a mouse to sculpt and a leap to navigate but that is to be expected. My laptop only has 2 USB 3 ports so I can not use my Yiynova tablet screen (which requires 2) and my Leap at the same time and I know which one I would prefer to use for sculpting. There is some mileage in it and it would be cool if it was integrated in some way in the future. I think we need to see how it goes. I was pleased that sketchfab adopted it so quickly. Corel Freestyle works pretty well an it does feel like painting on a canvas.
  6. Hi Samardac, You will want to unwrap UVs in 3D Coat manually to get the best results and you will want to edit the stretched polygons or retopo the object completely. The Automatic tools are really useful and you can also use guides to get the correct topology but I always prefer doing things by hand. It's best practice and good for the soul.
  7. I was just tweeting with them. They have added LeapMotion support to their model viewer, which I am pleased to say is working really well. They said they were going to get LeapMotion working in Sculptfab too. Excited! Rotating the 3d viewport already works in 3DCoat with my Leap and the Touchless app for windows. I can't wait to see how others use this exciting new device!
  8. Hey Photonvfx, I have my brand spanking new leap! Are you still working on a plugin? Thanks, MARC
  9. My Leapmotion should be waiting for me when I get home from the office tonight! Excited!
  10. I just saw this via twitter and was blown away! It is amazing how smooth this is. WebGL is so exciting at the moment and things can only get better. I am amazed that the source has been provided free of charge!
  11. Honestly guys! I know this will not go down too well and I do not want to offend anyone as I am sure we all have our own 'issues' we need to deal with but please cut Andrew some frickin slack! He is obviously working very hard to do everything he can to make 3D Coat the best it can be. Maybe I am crazy or maybe I do not use the same workflow as the rest of you (Sculpt, Retopo, UV, Bake, Paint, export) but I just do not seem to run in to the problems that some of you report. I usually have a firm grasp of most software within a few days of using it and have not encountered a single potential 'obstacle' in 3D Coat that I have not been able to overcome. Andrew is not 'just a programmer', he is a creative visionary just like a lot of us here. What do you think will happen if he loses his drive and 'love' for what he is doing. Do you really want to try to force the man to stop enjoying his job?! Would you like him to give up on 3D Coat completely with phrases like 'you blew it' ? He has dedicated years of his life to this software and this kind of thing is actually pretty cruel... Please try to remember that we are all human. I am always excited by the new features that appear in 3D Coat and very glad that Andrew continually pushes the boundaries of what this software can do. If you do not like Beta software, don't test it and stick to the stable versions. It's pretty easy to do. Peace out
  12. Woo hoo! Just upgraded to V4 Pro. Thank you for such a reasonable upgrade price Andrew! When I bought 3D Brush for $70 dollars back in 2007 I thought it looked like such an amazing tool and such incredible value. Over 5 years later and I still can not believe my luck. I count 3D Coat as one of the best purchases I have ever made and it just keeps on getting better and better! I have made my money back countless times over thanks to 3D Coats ease of use and intuitive workflow. As long as you continue to make this tool, I will be your loyal customer. Best Wishes to you, your family and the Pilgway team.
  13. I will try a few tests with the wireframe turned on later and report back. I hope I didn't waste my money on a turkey.
  14. Newegg do not ship to the UK do they?
  15. Hmm... My 660 gives me no issues on my Lenovo y580 laptop. Smooth as Butter.
  16. Tattoo 3D! I remember being so excited when I discovered that app for the first time a few years ago! Anyone else have any experience with single light occlusion? Can you move the light source and can it bake shadows?
  17. Has anyone used the option to calculate occlusion using one light source in the latest beta? How is it working for you? I kind of expected it to bake a shadow based on the direction of the light like a light mapper. What is its intended use and how do you control the output? Thanks peeps.
  18. I took advantage of this offer the last time they did this with Unity 3.5 but never expected them to repeat the offer. They only gone and done it though! IOS and Android export is now free for Unity 4! http://unity3d.com/ With Project Anarchy due out next month, (and also free) http://www.projectanarchy.com/ the indie 3D mobile game space is really heating up. I still believe that a great product will sell no matter what. The app stores are crowded but there are loads of talented artists and developers here and elsewhere who could make some money with a quality game or app. Get on the gravy train guys!
  19. I would be very happy with white models if they had high enough resolution. I wonder about the size of the subject matter though. How big is the scanning range of the Leap?
  20. Wow, There has been a lot of activity on this old post sence I last checked! It is good to hear that you are working on a plugin photonvfx. I can not wait to get my device. I have also pre-ordered a Lenovo LT1423p wireless monitor which supports 10 touch points and has a wacom digitiser built in. It only has 256 levels of presure (Poor mans Cintiq) but combining this and the Leap motion with my Lenovo y580, may just give me my perfect 3d coat set up. It also works over USB 3.0 so I should be able to get a lag-free work flow. I love the tablet form factor and the fact that It will be like working on an awesomely over powered Ipad! I have become a bit of a pre-order junky over the last few months. It's a cool time to be a future tech art geek with a little bit of money to spend.
  21. Hey Carlosa, I can not seem to see the Direct Light, One Source in my 3D Coat. I have 15A. How did you get it to appear? Thanks in advance, Marc
  22. Can anyone say necro? ... So, I just pre-ordered the Leap Motion Controller which is now due to ship on the WC June 22nd. I just couldn't resist it for so many reasons. If I can't use it for anything really productive it will entertain my 2 year old and his new baby brother. Do you think it would work with 3D Coat right away or would it need some serious programming to get a plug in up and running? The SDK is out there...
  23. I have a small ssd on my new Y580. I am moving 3D Coat to it right now. Thanks for the tip.
  24. Not the moustached dude's face in the video. The female Cyber Samurai / Ninja. The texture work is breathtaking. The 3D Coat video is awesome too. I can not wait for the official release after using the beta's.
