Nah, it's more about something like this:

    https://www.artstation.com/marketplace/p/wyjVb/10-creature-skin-smart-material-vol04

In your links, there is almost none of the stuff that I'm looking for. I've found one or two textures that might suit my needs, but I already have similar shaders/smart materials.

  2. Hey guys and gals,

is there any source for quality textures( preferably seamless) or smart materials for texturing creatures, monsters, etc.? Something like skin, flesh and other creepy stuff.

There is quite a lot of stuff for Substance Painter in spsm format, but nothing for 3dcoat.

Maybe there is a way to extract textures from spsm package or export from Substance?

  3. @Andrew Shpagin Switching views with Num Pad works as it should, thanks. Now, there is one problem that I've mentioned earlier and I call it "sticky brush" - cursor hangs/lags for a sec with every camera change, brush size change, etc. When you mentioned to switch off Incremental Render under Geometry menu, to fix Num Pad issue, I've made a test for "sticky brush" with Icremental Render off and it seems like this issue is related to that setting. "Incremental Render" off and sticky brush issue is gone.

  4. @Andrew Shpagin Version 2024-07 - switching camera views on Num Pad still doesn't work. It works in weird way - when I hit 5(perspective/ortho view) and then 4(side view) it switches to side view, again 5 and then 6 and it switches to other side, again 5 and then 2 and it switch to front view. When I hit only 4, 5 or 2 it doesn't react. Same happens when I hit 4 and then RMB it switches to side view, 2 and the RMB and it switches to front view, etc. Also, often moving witgh LMB in the viewport, outside of the object doesn't work - no reaction at all. All these issues showed up after that whole "new gizmo" change in 2024-05.

  5. And some more:

    - Extensions creation - add an option to select multiple presets at once with SHIFT. That's very basic functionality, that is pretty widely implemented in apps and operating systems. Selecting every position separately is pretty annoying and time consuming.

    - Presets panel - allow to move, export, delete multiple presets at once. Pretty much the same situation as above - really basic functionality.

    - Shaders/Smart Materials panels - allow to move, delete multiple items at once...

    - Alphas, models, splines, stencils, etc. - same situation...

    - Render presets - add separate panel for render presets/camera shortcuts. Presets panel gets pretty messy with all that stored along brush presets and necessity to delete that stored ***** one by one is damn annoying.

Also, when it comes to 3DC 2023 - tool panels covering/intersecting with Camera nad Navigation bar or whatever it's called, it's another little annoying glitch/behaviour in 3DC Ui.

  6. @Andrew Shpagin Ok, something is messed up with switching views with Num Pad. Sometimes it works as it should, sometimes it does not react at all or it works  in weird way - when I hit 5(perspective/ortho view) and then 4(side view) it switches to side view, again 5 and then 6 and it switches to other side, again 5 and then 2 and it switch to front view. When I hit only 4, 5 or 2 it doesn't react.

  7. @Andrew Shpagin Playing around with 2024 and... sadly, Flat Shading is still broken, brush presets still doesn't store Brush Rotation, brushing is still weird(sticky cursor/hangs for a sec) with complexe models(many elements/subtools), also some issues with 3dconnexion device in orthographic view(conflict with a mouse?).

I've been mentioning most of this earlier, so some response would be great... Any plans for fixing those issues anytime soon?

AMD makes great CPU's, but in 3DCoat, my experience is that a comparable Intel will outperform an AMD...probably due to lingering CPU throttling in the Intel TBB (Thread Building Blocks) Library that 3DCoat uses for Multi-threading.

I will say, though, I was able to test 3DCoat on a laptop with an AMD 4800H (8 core) CPU, a few years ago, and the performance was stellar. I had a first generation AMD ThreadRipper (1650X) and noticed that the sculpting performance was sometimes a little disappointing. But, when I tested that laptop (brand new at the time, Jan 2021), the sculpting performance was rather robust. It would be helpful to hear the feedback from artists here, who use the latest generation of AMD CPU's with 3DCoat. I switched back to Intel a few years ago (10900k) and it was a noticeable improvement over the ThreadRipper, but there have been some significant improvements to AMD CPU architecture in the last few years, so the difference could be negligible now.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I remember there was some lawsuit against Intel, for crippling AMD CPUs.

I might try Intel CPU at some point, but not for now, as X5900 is still compatible with my AM4 mobo, so the cost will be only a fraction of what I would need to spend to make a platform change.

I guess, I'll try that 5900X and see myself if it's a worthy upgrade.

  9. Hi guys,

I'm wondering about cpu upgrade in my current build - for now, I have Ryzen 7 3700X paired with 64GB of ram, GTX 1070 Ti and a mix of nvme and ssd drives on a X570 mobo.

Been wondering lately about swaping 3700X with Ryzen 9 5900X... is it worth the hassel, will there been any gains in 3d applications? I know that my GPU is kind of a bottleneck at this point, but I don't have plans for changing it anytime soon, as for me it is still a solid hardware.

So, any thoughts? @AbnRanger you have some experience with Ryzens if I remember correctly?
