  1. Hi all, Having issues using the Blender Applink with UDIMs Created UDIMs in Blender, used Applink-send. Textured in 3D Coat. On 'Open in Original App' made sure 'export UV sets as tiles' is checked... but back in Blender when I 'Get Back' only a single UDIM texture is shown. The only way I've found to work is to rename the textures instead of 3DC's default [obj name]_1001.png to [obj name].1001.png etc and create a new material on the original object & assign the textures as UDIM tiles What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance :-)
  2. Hi all, If I use the erase tool on part of a mesh in Layer 0, am I creating a true alpha channel? In which case how do I get this into Blender? Using the app-link, an alpha socket is connected but doesn't appear to recognise/treat Layer 0 as the alpha channel. Any help/suggestions would be really appreciated

Hi, Thanks for helping me with this issue - I managed to fix it but only after I went back to blender, created a separate label object, [duplicated faces] UV'd it and sent both objects back to 3DC & yes, I did have ignore back faces on in the first try. Happy to send the original model if anyone wants to work out what the issue was. I've used the vertex lines/curve stroke brush countless times before & never come across this issue before. Despite the frustration, I've posted a few feature requests for the paint room because, whilst I know most people use 3DC for sculpting, the effortless workflow for texturing in 3DC & sending it back to Blender could be a real game-changer, especially as its easy switching between procedural/smart material & texture painting - something that is really clunky to do in Blender - but 3DC does need a few extra tools. I do have Substance Painter but I tend to use it as a last resort - as in this case, because now the label is a separate object, having roughen the edges of the label means I now need an alpha channel which is not something I've found very easy to do in 3DC Poison_Bottle.fbx
  4. Hi, Would love better masking features, especially being able to apply noise easily also, & really important, the paint room needs an easier way of creating an Alpha channel
  5. The only differences are: not using Bump as its supposed to be part of a label Object surface is much more rounded than your example Other than that, I don't know.
  6. Hi all, Would love a Roughen Edges similar to that of AE & Photoshop. Plus an easy method to slightly flatten the normals in a particular region. I know it has a Normal Flatten tool but its very clunky to work with. With the workflow between Blender & 3D Coat being such a breeze, this should be maximised by giving the painting room some more love.
  7. Hi all, Trying to create a label on 3d bottle - Using either the vertex lines or the curve stroke brush, I keep getting this - any suggestions? I could very easily just use another app but I would really like to do it all in 3dC if possible Thanks in advance
  8. Update: Converted the .png's to .jpg's all sorted - no more crashes

  12. Hi all, Using 3dCoat v2023.29. Whenever I try to add a texture to the metalness texture slot in Smart Material creation it crashes - every single time. This must be a new bug because I've done this before in earlier versions & never had this issue Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks
  13. Hi, I'm texturing an urban environment - for the graffiti, I wanted to scale up a duplicate layer to get an outline effect. Scaling the duplicate layer & placing it underneath the original would work

  15. Hi, For quickly texturing a landscape, is there a way to use smart materials with a mask based on the height (yaxis) of the model - i.e. adding snow material to just the tops of the mountains? Thanks in advance

Hi all, FYI For those of you who wish to avoid, where possible, subscription only software like Photoshop - I just wanted you all to know that the no-subscription-Affinity Suite (Designer & Photo) works well with 3DC. It's not fully integrated so there are a few extra clicks but that's all. Both Designer & Photo can import & export in psd format therefore, if you wish to edit a layer, simply export layer & open in AfD or AfP, you get the UV's on a layer too just as in Photoshop. Edit as needed, then export it as a psd. Back in 3DC just import layer
  18. Hi all, Is there a way of setting the scale of a smart material by a fixed amount? I know you can freely scale but how do I set a scale e.g. by 50% so that in a future file, if I want the textured objects to match up I can just remember I scaled the smart material in a previous file by 50%? I tried hitting the space bar but I get the tools pie menu Thanks in advance
