  1. Hello, I have a hopefully simple question. I have 2 layers while painting. I have a base layer and then a second layer which I painted in certain areas. Lets say it was a room and I used the paint bucket to fill the whole base layer. Then on a second layer I painted the baseboard and trim in the room. But now I need to change that trim color, switch to another smart material for the second layer. Is it possible to just swap out materials for that second layer without having to paint it again? Thanks! -Lars
  2. I have an internal 256 gig SSD that I run my system software and apps on. I noticed while gathering new brushes and smart materials online that they are large in size. Like my media, am I able to store these file on a different drive or must everything be stored in the 3Dcoat folder to be used?
  3. I will try that when I get home tonight. Thanks again for all your help with my questions as I am learning this program. I discovered that it was from the original import and not adding the Occlusion. -Lars
  4. So I imported a model from C4D as an OBJ that I am wanting to paint and then use it in Unity for my game. But as I started to preview the materials I noticed that they are following the lines of the model? You can see the bright areas following the Polly lines. I checked to make sure that all of my pollys in C4D had the normal's pointing the out before exporting. In the tutorial it said that I should calculate Occlusion and Curvature. I'm guessing that they problem is coming from that?
  5. Thank you. There is a lot to learn with this program and I do do internet searches before I ask. -Lars
  6. Hi, I figured out how to add a reference image to the z axis view using the pull downs in camera/background. But I can't seem to figure out how to turn it off to check my model? Thanks. -Lars
  7. Thanks guys. I have used Vue in the past for a company. I think that might be a little more epic for my goal but I am starting to think it is a multi app project. But I would need to finish it up in 3Dcoat since it exports to Unity easily and it keeps all the PBR in tact. I did find this tutorial and it looks somewhat adequate for my needs and looks to be 100 % 3Dcoat.
  8. Hello, for the past year I have been working on a Unity game with 2D artwork. Basically its an artillery game with a mountain in the middle that you fire over. I have seen how well 3DCoat exports to Unity and a couple days ago I did a test with some free 3D Rock objects and managed to stack the rocks to make a good looking arch for the game. Unity is big on the PBR and I am sure these rock objects were made in 3Dcoat or similar program. Are there any tutorials out there on building hills or mountains? I included a 2D graphic of my current mountain for the game and what I would like to move to in 3D as I update. Thanks!
  9. Hi everyone, this is my first post. I use C4D but need to get better texture maps and found this program. I have been jumping through some video on painting and layers. I can't seem to find any tutorials on how to just paint just a bump map, or specular map. I can see that when I paint I can raise or lower the depth level on the brush, but lets say I painted an object that is just shiny red with no depth. Now I want to do a second pass and paint a brick alpha channel to use as a bump or displacement map, how do I do that? Are there any tutorial video on this type of workflow, or am I missing something? Thanks! -Lars
