  1. As a newbie to 3D modeling/sculpting, after I purchased Cinema 4D Studio (R20), I wanted to supplement it with a dedicated 3D sculpting application, which lead me to 3D-Coat and ZBrush. After assessing both of the said applications through their respective demo periods, I ultimately enjoyed using 3D-Coat far more than ZBrush, and decided to purchase it. ZBrush was not intuitive to me at all. Furthermore, I also appreciated all of the additional tools 3D-Coat provided beyond sculpting, which is now more important because I plan to remove Substance Painter/Designer from my personal 3D pipeline as a result of Adobe's acquisition of Allegorithmic. With that said, I might give ZBrush 2019 a try in the near future. Due to its abnormal pricing model and popularity in the 3D industry, it is a low-risk investment in the long-run. Nevertheless, I still see myself continuing to primarily use 3D-Coat for sculpting. It just works so well for my needs at this time, and has been a wonderful platform for my learning development.
  2. As a non-Adobe Creative Cloud subscriber and Substance Designer/Painter license owner, I am not excited about the Allegorithmic's decision. However, after purchasing 3D-Coat a few weeks ago, I began to question whether I still required Substance for my humble needs. Time will tell, after I explore the possibilities of 3D Coat further.
  3. In light of the fact that the points accumulate and do not expire, I am planning to purchase an annual Indie subscription, while it is on sale, and save the units for when I need them in the future.
  4. I would also like to say thank you to the Pilgway team. I downloaded the demo of 3D Coat Professional a couple months ago and completely loved it. Needless to say, I purchased the said application during the Black Friday sale. 3D Coat complements my other 3D software tools very well: Cinema 4D Studio R20 and Substance Painter/Designer. Over the holiday season, I am planning to walk-through several PluralSight videos to expedite the learning curve process to effectively use 3D Coat.
  5. I love Houdini and have slowly been learning the free Apprentice version. I plan to download the new release soon. If I was not already monetarily invested in Cinema 4D R20 and was looking to purchase a new 3D program, I would definitely go with Houdini. However, due to the high cost of 3D software, I cannot justify owning both Cinema 4D and Houdini for my no-revenue generating filmmaking efforts.
  6. As a new user to 3D Coat (demo version until next sale event), I recently worked through the "Getting Started with 3D-Coat" course, by Robert Ferenczi, on PluralSight. Overall, I enjoyed the said course and it helped me get up and running faster than I would have on my own, but I wish the pace was a little slower. I am planning to watch the "Character Concept and Sculpting Techniques in 3D Coat" PluralSight course, by Eric Kunzendorf, this weekend.
  7. Hello everyone, I am a nascent indie filmmaker who is seeking to use 3D tools, in addition to other practical means, to increase the production value of my future project efforts. I presently own Cinema 4D Studio R20 and Substance Designer/Painter, but also desire a dedicated sculpting software. After testing 3D Coat and ZBrush over the past few days with my graphic tablet, I must admit that I truly prefer the ladder application for my present needs and also find the non-sculpting aspects very beneficial as well. When the next sale period occurs, which I hope is not too far in the future, I definitely plan to purchase a Professional license of 3D Coat. In the meantime, I will keep enjoying the demo period while it is active and learn as much as possible prior to officially becoming a customer.
