  2. oh, it's fine on the latest version. thanks Yes, 3dcoat only accept greyscale images but now 3dcoat detect normal maps to convert them into greyscale.

  4. yes, opacity slider is a global opacity, it controls the opacity of a smart material being applied too, so i could understand why it's linked to the roughness and metalness. but it's not a color only opacity (it's misleading because on the toggle color popup it say otherwise). I feel that a color opacity is needed as you mentioned.

Is it possible to store a brush preset without the color? like a wet brush for example. it seams that the opacity slider is affecting the color and the metalness and roughness too. if i don't want color i can't have metalness or roughness. i could disable the color, but the toggle buttons are not stored with presets. thanks

Coping smart materials from V49 into new folder structure works for some materials but now some materials are crashing 3dcoat 2021. for some materials, i've got an error: Material is broken. 3dcoat is looking for a texture with this path: documents/3dcoatv49/userprefs/smartmaterials/.... This is strange because 3dcoat look into the old path: 3dcoatv49 but with the new folder structure of 3dcoat 2021 so 3dcoat doesn't find the texture and crash. as i mentioned in my previous post, creating extension package in v49 to import them into 3dcoat 2021 doesn't work either because 3dcoat crash if there is more than 20 material in the package.
  7. when i try to install some of my old smartmaterial library extension, 3dcoat crashes. I've noticed that it crashes when the extension contains more than 20 smartmaterials. Then 3dcoat can't launch anymore and crashes at startup. So i'have to delete my 3DCoat-2021folder to launch 3dCoat again but i lose all my preferences, licence, materials, etc. The only solution i've found is to create multiple folders to divide my library into small chunk of 20 smartmaterials in 3dcoat 4.9, then create extensions one by one; import them into 3dcoat 2021 and merge folders by moving every material one by one. During this process, I have to regulary backup my 3dcoat-2021 folder because if an extension install crashes, i have to start from scratch again. it works but it's a very tedious process, any infos on that?
  8. This should theoretically speed the workflow because we don't need to create a low poly, bake a normal map,optimize 3dmodels etc. but we still need UV maps for Hipoly models. I cannot find any practical solution especially for hard surfaces other than retopology and tedious recreating of bevels and UVs which negate the purpose of this workflow. EpicGame stream said that they are still evaluating different workflow. I was wondering how 3Dcoat could come to the rescue because 3dcoat has often found some creative solutions to resolve problems. Any idees?
  9. Calculating curvature map for weighted normals models are often bad in most texturing software i have tried. I'm glad you bring the subject to the table because it's a great alternative to the high poly baking workflow. It's an important feature for me too. It's a good news that the team is working on it
  10. Normal map doesn't work well in 3Dcoat smart material but this is fine using a height map. This is confusing because the icon for depth on smart material editor is blue/purple and because every other texturing software use normal map. i think the tooltip should mention that the slot is not made for normal map.
  11. Maybe i'm doing something wrong but when using the eraser tool, the scale of the stencil is wrong with cube map or uv map projection (a lot smaller than the preview). It is working fine with cylindrical, spherical and camera projection though.
  12. The only working method i've found to import quixel materiasl is to do manual install from zip files. I have to do it one by one for every material and save them one by one. if i create a specific folder inside 3dcoat for organisation purpose, 3dcoat will copy textures from pattern folder to the specific folder (instead of moving them). it end up with 3 copies of the same material on hard drive, one in quixel folder, one in pattern folder and one in the custom created folder. 3 duplicates for each scan material could lead to huge wasted space on hard drive, so i have to find duplicates and clean up every material in each folders.
  13. 3dcoat v4.9.49 / windows 10 3dcoat doesn't try to import anything on startup from my quixel folder (unzipped materials). if i try the other way and manualy put zip files in the folder, 3dcoat ask me on startup for import but after saving materials(which i have to do for every materials) i can't use them: "Material is broken. Texture .... not found, please choose the path where it is placed." if i look in the 3dcoat pattern folder, some textures are missing on every material. thanks for your help.
  14. I'm on windows and Bridge automatically unpack downloaded materials. So i have to manually zip content to import into 3dcoat. But my files look like yours (8k files and json) and it should be working.
