  1. Right, so here's the thing: I used the OpenGL version, and the primitives disappeared all the time. Then I launched the DX version, and after getting a message Windows was blocking the app for whatever reason and some delay, the primitive stayed and I could do operations on them. Then I went back to the OpenGL version, and now the primitive stays. No idea how choosing a different version fixed it.
  2. Hi, I'm very new to 3d Coat, and I was looking at some tutorials. I'm starting with the basics, so I add a primitive, transform it. Then, as per tutorial, I clkick the cot-off tool, and the primitive disappears. In fact, everything I do, the primitive is gone from my screen. What do I do to keep the thing? (clicking Apply in the tool options doesn't help) Thanks.
  3. Hi, I'm currently looking into the retopo of my sculpted figure. I went through the autopo routine and now I want to adjust the topology. Thing is, I have the voxel model showing through my base mesh, which is a bit distracting (at least for me). Is there a way to hide the voxel object so I can see the edgeloops better?
  4. There are multiple reports about some bad performance with the GTX 400 series in various 3D programs. See here I exchanged my 9800GTX for a GTX 460 and noticed a decrease in performance in 3D Coat. I subdivided a standard cube in Blender a couple of times untill it reached 1.5 million faces and I couldn't even rotate the view anymore. On the other hand, rendering in Octane blows the 9800 away. just an FYI Also see this thread which has some benchmarks between the two cards. I also must stress out that in DX mode, 3D-Coat is working very smooth for me with this card.
  5. I whacked in some more RAM because I still wasn't happy, and that made a huge difference. Now, time to serious delve into 3D-Coat.
  6. Ok, issue is solved, apparently it's not always the best thing to update drivers. With the default drivers (258.xx) everything is fine now. 260.xx killed it for me.
  7. Hi, With slow I mean it takes a second or 3 before the brush starts to do something (anything, move, fill, smooth), and also it takes a second or 3 before I can pick a new tool. I'm pretty sure the 9800GTX wasn't this sluggish, and I'm tempted to put it back in again just to be sure. Also, the DX version has the same issue. I'll downgrade the drivers, because I was doodling on a bit in 3D-Coat before I put in the GTX460 and it seemed ok. To be continued....
  8. Hi, I'm very new to 3D-Coat, and am using the educational version at the moment, the 64bits version. I just upgraded my graphics card from a 9800GTX 512mb to a GTX460 with 1GB. Unfortunatly, performance when sculpting in the CUDA version is very poor, like 1fps. I have the latest drivers from nVidia. Now, when I start the DX version, it complains about a missing DLL, and that is correct, I have DX11 installed (fresh Win7 64 bits install). Can I install DX9 alongside 11 so I can check if the DX version worls better? Thanks.
  9. Hello, I'm a very new user of 3D-Coat and I wanted to say thanks for posting these tutorials. I just watched the first episode, and I already run into an issue. So I hope you don't mind asking for some advice in this thread (if this is not the appropriate forum section, please feel free to move it). The issue I'm having is when I want to place the sphere for the rat's head. No matter what I do, I always end up with 2 spheres side by side, even when I zoom all the way to align the blue dots (which are red for me btw.) I actually had the same issue with the SNAKE tool for the neck, I did get "double necks" goin all over the place, but somehow managed to get a single one at some time. Thanks in advance for any help on this.
  10. This just blows me away... absolutely awesome work. Seriously, this can go straight into World of Warcraft. I'd apply for a job at Blizzard
