  1. I'd recommend investigating Tissue Tools for Blender by Alessandro Zomparelli and using them in conjunction with 3D Coat boolean capabilities. The surface pattern on the piece below was created using this workflow.
  2. Thanks - will be looking forward to the next iterations of the toolset.
  3. Hi, thanks for the quick reply. Is it not possible to make it a viable option in the future? Plenty of people work with a Z axis set up as the 'up' coordinate by default. It's cumbersome to change one's coordinate setup just for the sake of using this one tool. If the reason are the auto-generated X-Y-Z curves that appear when initiating the tool, would it not make sense to introduce a set of instructions re-arranging these curves' relationship when Z-Up system is detected?
  4. "Surface by 2 Views" refuses to initiate when working in the Z-Up coordinate system. Version .42 . sadasdasdassad.mp4
  5. The naming convention of the 3D Grid Density is not quite in line with the actual terms used in English. 'Density' can be described as 'low' or 'high' rather than 'small' and 'large' (low density foam, high density material etc.) 'Small' and 'large' used here are counterintuitive - as choosing the 'Small' (meaning low-density) 3D grid will actually result in the largest grid squares - as the grid will be less dense! Changing the Density options to 'low' - 'medium' - 'high' would more appropriately reflect what they actually do.
  6. You might want to crank up the initial voxel resolution on your object at the start - anywhere from 3.5 million triangles you should be fairly ok with detail preservation. I've just checked the sphere remeshing example you mentioned in both 4.9 and 2021.39 at between 3.5-5 million tris and there seems to be no difference on my side.
  7. Second that. I used 3DCoat for a substantial amount of time in a professional 3D-printing setting. At the time, I wasn't even very aware of the Surface mode capabilities and I used continuously very heavy Voxel objects to generate meshes for printing. The idea was that I could Voxel remesh away a lot of the errors that would take ages to hand-pick in polygonal modeling software. I routinely produced matching sharp-edge .STL files using this technique and pushed it to a (near) precision-engineering area at times printing interlocking mechanisms, screws, casting moulds etc. All working perfectly and based on Voxel mode remeshing only.
  8. Version .39, Modeling space - issue with Transform / Scale / Rotate shortcuts. Everything works fine when selecting in Vertex mode. All fine with selections in Edge mode - apart from rotation. In Face selection mode, none of these shortcuts work. 6456464.mp4
  9. Working with the tablet on the WinTab setting, version .36 - there is a brush offset both in painting and sculpting / masking mode with the tablet. Only the Vertex Line / Vertex Curve drawing modes seem not to be affected. I've tried to run 3DC with the 'High DPI' display settings both on and off. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080. No issues with the 4.9 version (shown in the video, also in WinTab mode), or with any other tablet-dependent apps. With the other tablet option chosen in Brushing - WindowsInk - there's no offset issue but all the pressure options under E panel get ignored.
  10. Shortcut binding doesn't work correctly for the mesh display settings in the drop-down menu in the Modeling room. Example in the video: 1. I associate an Alt-W shortcut with the 'Retopo Wireframe' option from the menu 2. I press the shortcut once in the main 3D window, nothing happens. 3. Once Alt-W is pressed near enough the drop-down menu, the whole drop-down menu opens. So Alt-W doesn't operate as a wireframe on/off toggle, but instead works as a callout for the drop-down menu to unroll. 86.mp4
  11. The 'Align Vertices' tool in the Modeling room ignores Z-Up coordinate system set in the Preferences. 65456.mp4
  12. When using a set of (new) curves and the 'Fill with Mesh Layer' functionality, there's no global response to tool parameter changes; The changes are applied only to the first curve-linked surface patch from the selected set. It would be nice to be able to influence a whole set of curve-linked meshes at the same time. 1234.mp4
  13. Thanks, it's my own concoction - feel free to use it! The UI font is Bahnschrift SemiLight Condensed, size 12 (on 1920 x 1080 resolution). It's a free typeface and you should be able to find it on the web. kt2_grey.options.xml
  14. A quick tip and a potential Presets issue to point out - if you add a brush to Presets while the Brush Parameters panel is open, every time you invoke that brush from Presets it will also open the whole Brush Parameters panel for this brush, taking up screen space. In other words, Presets stores not just the brush engine data but also the value related to the state of openness / closure of the Brush Parameters panel. Hide your Brush Parameters before adding a new brush to Presets in order to avoid this.
  15. .28, Sculpt mode Space key menu - duplicate key shortcuts and tools, as marked.
  16. Space key tool menu, scale comparison between 4.9 and 21.26. In .26 I'm able to neither drag this menu downwards nor replace tools in the topmost shelf where the number shortcut associations are set up. Seen at 1920 x 1080, on a 15" screen. sdfsdfsdf.mp4
  17. Comparing the left tab UI scaling between .21 and .22 - the size of the icons seems much more reasonable in .21, in .22 it takes too much space. As seen on a 15" screen, 1920 x 1080 resolution. GDFGDFG.mp4
  18. It's nice to have an option to keep using those alongside the new type - both are useful in their own right!
  19. Figured that one out - the HDRI rotation shortcut doesn't work once the new Curve Editor is active. Once in Fullscreen, the Curve Editor disappears from the top bar - so I wasn't aware that it was still active. Closing the Curve Editor reinstates the HDRI rotation by shortcut functionality.
  20. In 4.9, I can rotate the light source/HDRI by holding down Ctrl+Shift+LMB and moving the mouse. The shortcut doesn't work in 2021. Is it gone or can I set it up somewhere in the Preferences? dsasdas.mp4
  21. Ver.11, the Space key pop-up tool menu won't allow itself to be dragged downwards or up within the screen, one can only move it sideways. This inhibits access to the top shelf of the menu. Any chance of a more adjustable/dynamic scaling of these pop-up menus in the future? On smaller screens, the icon size causes those to take too much space. It's cosmetics compared to the brush functioning issues, still perhaps worth some looking into. cccc.mp4
  22. You can clear your selection quickly by pressing Ctrl+D. I personally find the 'Shift-less' selection method as much more intuitive and faster than, say, Blender's. Also, once you ascribe shortcuts to Low-Poly and Sculpting rooms, switching between polygon edition and sculpting mode (with the 'Sculpt Mesh' link between Low-Poly and Sculpt room) feels much easier than in Blender, where you have to call a pie menu etc. etc. To each their own, I guess. All of these advantages (imo) seem defeated - for the time being - by sheer instability of both the Low-Poly workflow and the link to Sculpt room. Breaking links, Pose tool not working, awkward behaviour of so many tools available. I'll keep my fingers crossed and stick to Blender / PolyQuilt for now for a combo of polygonal editing and quick sculptural tweaks.
  23. You can create custom screen DPI settings per application in Windows 10. Locate the 3D Coat executable in Windows file browser, right-click into its Properties, go into the Compatibility tab, click on 'Change high DPI settings', uptick both options within the DPI settings that open. Choose the DPI override to be done by Application. Your 3D Coat scaling will now be independent from the overall setting for the other apps. It also helps with GL versions of 3D Coat struggling to scale UI properly in fullscreen mode.
  24. B54 - the UI freezes and breaks randomly while performing Boolean operations on Volume objects.
  25. When attempting to bulk-duplicate a sub-tree of curves, the duplicates of dependent curves are created within the original parent sub-tree. Under the duplicate parent sub-tree, only empty name entries are created for dependent curves. One has to clean up and re-assign dependent curves by hand.
