Personally I just let the padding go out as far as it wants. lol I always want some, extra doesn't hurt.

I'm not exactly sure of the problem but perhaps try going into Mesh at the top and uncheck Virtual Mirror Mode before you apply symmetry.

Maybe this is a bug or maybe I'm doing something wrong. I have this 3D scan, actually 2 scans of either side of the object. I thought I would just line them up and merge them in 3DC. But when I use Merge With (Move to...) It deletes everything except the intersecting parts like a Boolean Intersect in CAD. This is in 3DC 2023.30, surface mode, non watertight models.

I personally love the UI everything is exactly where I expect it to be and the space bar panel makes it quick to grab another tool.

So I haven't had time to look into it. What exactly is it supposed to do if you're starting with another program? I usually use Reality Capture for photogrammetry but that goes through the whole process, doesn't make sense to switch programs in the middle, unless it does a better job or something.

Revolutionary Holographic Display Plugin - Users would only need to buy a special/cheap refractive lens that Microlux creates to apply to their LED display.
3DCoat plugin would project 48 camera angles to the entire display like a sprite sheet (many little displays tiled but represent different camera angles)
The Microlux thin Film applied to the display decodes the individual tiles based on the user's viewing angle so looking around the corner on their Monitor is possible.
Two render modes should be possible: 1. full screen render of just the viewport 2. UI & Viewport Render.
This would be the viewing result of their own monitor
I've created a post about this years ago. Such a plugin could also remedy VR compatibility.
I've seen Looking Glass displays before and they're cool but I'm not sure how helpful they would be for sculpting or other 3DC functions.

Very interesting. MoI3D does this since the entire program can be run with a touch screen.

Hi guys, I just thought I'd share that I have a new 3D scanning video in which I showed 3D-Coat being used. I'll add a link in the description for those interested in 3DC.

This is something that has bugged me for a while. If I'm loading an object in the sculpt room and rotate it with Leave Rotated Axis on, how do I reset the gizmo back to the default, with the arrows pointing down X, Y, and Z?
I try Reset Axis but that seems to undo all of the movements and rotations I made, even if I turn on Move Only Gizmo. Is that a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Just wanted to throw in that I love that the Room buttons are back along the top instead of a drop down menu. Much raider to quickly switch back and forth.

Gorgeous renders.

Maybe. I ended up switching to Voxels and that mostly worked fine.

I was also having some errors in the forum earlier tonight. Please be patient and keep in mind there is a war going on where they are which may affect some things.

I think 3DCoat's Update Manager is weird!
Here, mine doesn't show any information about the builds... except a completely blank screen with the buttons at the top and on the left side.
Another thing, in the forum... the download links and the build information log do not appear and are broken.
The part couple of times I tried the update manager it didn't work, it said it was downloading then nothing.

@Koray I appreciate your work and suggestions, but please. Respect.
The development team keeps working hard in the middle of a war, trying to make it bug free, listening to all proposals, improving existing tools and developing new features... and all you have to said is:really... ?
Sorry but I am not pissed off, nothing is personal.
The fact that the development team does not respond instantly to your complaints does not give you the right to treat them with sarcasm.
Respect.
Honestly I've been surprised they're getting any work done in the middle of a war. That's dedication.

All today2/23, as of 11pm EST, the links and changelog in this thread for 2023.1 are both unavailable. Both iframes seem to default to the main 3dcoat site. Not sure if something is being updated behind the scenes or what, but I thought that it was worth mentioning since I know that this thread is actively monitored.
Yeah, just now I came in from a link in an email and it didn't work. I have to go back to the main website and come here manually.

That works fine, if you know where the holes are. I ended up loading the model in Meshmixer and filling them in there.

Can someone explain how to properly use Close Holes in the Geometry menu of the Sculpt room (surface mode)? I have a car that a client wants me to prepair for printing. It looks great but it has a couple of hundred tiny holes in the mesh. Close Holes gets rid of some but still leaves a couple hundred. Increasing the number in Max Contour Length removes only a couple more.

How is it different from the slider?

Just look at 3dcoat.com and open the menu in the upper right. Trial link is right at the top.

Hard to say but it looks like your UV map has overlapping parts.
