  1. Loft surface is broken again in OSX 2023.14. Easy to reproduce....just try to loft two curves. Preview is ok but when apply mesh is checked the result is a mess. EDIT:It seems that a lot of tools in the modeling room are completely broken with this update. Accepting the slices of the knife tools completely break the mesh. Also, accepting a second surface strip completely breaks the first strip and results in a broken mesh. Is there anyway I can find/download the OSX 2023.09 version? That was the most stable one.
  2. Welcome! I also bought in this year, and Im too very impressed with what 3D Coat is doing modeling wise. The implementation of curves in modeling and sculpting is absolutely God-sent! Looking forward to your videos also
  3. Another potential bug in 2023.08 OSX After multiple iterations of Vox hiding, Im unable to delete "Delete Hidden " geometry. The bug resolves after saving and reopening saved file
  4. Possible Bug in sculpt room On 2023.08 for the Mac , transform tool (cannot scale curves)inside the curves panel does not work (sculpt room, surface or voxel).
  5. 2023.08 on MacOS crashes upon creating a mesh from my beloved Surface strip tool (Poly modeling tab). It happens after you accept the mesh.

Apart from the smart gizmo/move/snapping options that I requested on that video, I also think that a much needed basic feature , is to be able to make a soft selection/move not just on a global level, but to a number of preselected vertices/edges/polygons. Meaning that only the preselected items move but within a linear or radial falloff.
  7. Downloaded 2023.05 on OSX 13.2 using M2 MAX. Installed fine but just getting black screen which says learning and nothing happens I also have 2022.60 installed which works fine
  8. Andrew 1st of all ....you re an awesome dude....great work, amazing product! Is there any plans for a Metal version for the Mac?
  9. My go to is now the OSX 2022.60 version and it works great so far. I did try the 2023 beta yesterday on Windows and there seems to be some issues with Flatten brush in the surface pane. Very unpredictable results while the OSX 2022.60 version works as expected . It seems as if the flatten cuts too deep into the mesh and leaves a larger ident at the end of each stroke even with smaller depths *EDIT*.... Solved. I had different settings on the 2022 version
  10. Thanks man...I think that did it. But there's one more question.. And I say think because while I was able to position one "sphere" correctly, the tool stops responding afterwards and I cannot extrude anything at all. Did I maybe reset the tool? Im on MAC OS 2022.60
  11. Not sure how to fix. All my tools extrude at weird angles even though Im in orthographic mode and laying /looking flat on the y axis....checked all snap to views off, symmetry off, don't know what else to check..... It almost seems that the specific voxel layer is somehow rotated and everything is extrude at angle there. My other layers are fine, its just that layer which acts like this Please help

  13. In the modeling room is it possible to divide a curve from a 2 point to a selected number of equidistant points?

  15. Its working properly for me with the latest release. I think I had the first version I ever downloaded. I love the SweptGenr tool and functionality, its an amazing tool. I do think it needs some work on the sculpt side of things (its really confusing how you have to preselct before using the tool. Why cant it work just like the modeling room?) but that s a different issue for another thread.
  16. Indeed. Not only faster to work with, but gives the option to the developers to later add gizmo/ handle based snapping to elements. (simply because you know where in 3D space those verts are) Any clutter in3D space can be resolved by simply displaying lines between constructed segments of vertices.
  17. Im thinking the Add split or the Points to polygons are both good canditates. In Blender you can lay out vertices in space by being in Vertex mode and then alt/right click in space. You have the option to activate the gizmo of course to know where those vertices lay. By lasso selecting more than one vertex, you can alt/right click again and extrude as an edge. The key to this is that as the vertices are laid out in space there s a line connecting them to have a visual , and it keeps staying there even when the tool is dropped. When extruded the vertices act like edges and form a complete mesh upon extrusion. Im sorry about the scribbling but I can also make a video if you like to make it more clear
  18. I love what the tools are trying to do but I think they are buggy. In Both of these, the resulting mesh either falls somewhere outside in 3d space and is completely deformed, or in the case of "Auto orient the profile" the mesh is still out of bounds, not touching the curves (even when using the "Angle of n profile". Also the cross sections in the Loft surface have no effect. Are those bugs well known and will be fixed in a later release?
  19. I humbly present my initial solution/request to start improving the modeling experience inside 3D COAT to match the awesomeness of the sculpting. I have read the complaints here from many as well as some very prominent sculptors l(who also use 3D COAT) like JAMA JURABEV and came up with the following conclusion. if we were to integrate the function of the add/split(minus the split function), quad, and select/transform in one tool (similar to the video in Blender), it would make for a more predictable, definitely less clicky and more enjoyable less frustrating modeling experience. As it stands at the very least ,we could maybe have a Gizmo with some of the ADD GEOMETRY commands in 3DCoat like the add/split, select and quad tools so that our resulting polys dont end up somewhere in the dark corners of 3D space. This is one of a few videos which I will try to articulate some of my requests and some existing issues currently. I love 3D COAT already and want to help it improve as much as possible!

  21. Trying to use the On Plane option with the surface flatten brushes but it seems that the option is no longer available in 2022.57 Is it supposed to be this way or am I missing something?
  22. I just purchased 3D Coat converting my demo version. There's a lot of promise here and the modeling and Voxel sculpting tools are amazing.....They just need improvements in workflow to mimic the most prominent software packages mentioned above like Maya and Blender. Theres a lot on offer with the Surface Patch, Loft and GenR tools they just need some touching up to improve form funtion and usability. The same with their respective counterparts in the Voxel space. I will make a video also very soon to help improve as much as possible. Glad to be a member of this awesome community and wishing the best to the developers
