  1. Ok, I see. Thank you! @Gorbatovsky So far I have never seen any 3DC video with multiple viewports, so I have assumed it is currently impossible to have multiple viewports at once. However there is a function for storing certain view positions for easy access. This is correct, yes?

  3. Oh, I see Mr. Gorbatovsky. Than you. I am glad there is a way of seeing all of the hotkeys in one place. Now I know about the rotation. I understand it is possible to customize tools in 3DC via code. It is done by new Python API or C++?
  4. I see. Apparently there is no comprehensive list that resumes all of the key bindings. I find some pretty nice functions are "hidden" in keyboard shortcuts however I cannot change them as I do not know what is their name in any menu, like pressing H while hovering over objects in the Modelling Room, switching to that object's layer. Btw Elemeno, have you managed to rotate multiple face clusters at once, each relative to their own centers of mass like Mr. Gorbatovsky suggested above? I have not figured out a way to use the Select/Transform tool for this task, similar to Blender's "individual origins".
  5. Oh, I see, I understand now. Yes, this could a useful improvement. On the topic of keys, do you happen to know a way of seeing the current key bindings? I assume there could be some sort of .ini file where perhaps I could see it, but, is there a way inside of 3DC to see/modify these bindings?

  7. Yes, this precisely what I would like to achieve, but for rotation. I remember the tool for individual scaling, however I have not been able to rotate multiple face selections at once with the Select/Transform tool. I tried using the rotate only Gizmo (E) and then rotated, but both selections keep rotation relative to 1 center of mass, instead of each rotating relative their respective centers. I tried checking the "Auto fit in local space" box, but I saw no changes. I am still missing the point.
  8. Thank you for your response Mr. Gorbatovsky. I tried rotating the faces with the Select/Transform tool, however I only got it working along a central axis of the selection, as a whole. Perhaps I am not seeing the right option. I managed to rotate the faces but one at a time, with the gizmo less transform + CTRL for 45 deg. increments. I attached some images for illustration. What am I missing?
  9. The first questions I wanted to ask are: Btw, I am using 3DC 2024.05 beta 1. Is it possible to rotate multiple face selections along their origins? There is a tool for individual scaling, however I haven't found one for individual selection rotation along own axis. 2. Is there a way of seeing/modifying all of the current key bindings in 3DC? By accident I discovered that pressing X,Z moves a polygroup layer along the X,Z plane. Also, pressing H when hovering over an object in the viewport, selects that polygroup's layer. I ignore how many more functionalities are there in shortcuts. Is there a way of viewing them all? 3. Is it possible to have more than 1 viewport in 3DC? Thank you all for your help!
  10. Hi there everyone! I am planning the release of a thorough video series on poly-modelling in 3D Coat. I am trying to get as much information as I can on all the aspects of workflow, shortcuts and issues that can appear in the process. Before publishing it, I would like to share here in the forum some of the material so that the more advanced users and developers can comment on them before release. I would be very thankful if you do. It will be free and on YouTube. Also, I would like to ask a few questions here in the forum just to be sure I am using the poly-modelling room in the best way. Thanks to all of your for your help.
  11. Oh, nice to know! However, I was wondering if modifiers are being considered as an addition to the Modelling room, for beveling, smoothing etc. I mostly intend to use 3DC for assets for real time rendering so I focus of polygonal models. Perhaps this parametric solids can later be converted to meshes?
  12. Hello everybody! I hope you all had a nice start of year. I have been absent of 3D modelling and the forums for some time and recently I have come back to it with 3DC. I am noticing the changes and where the discourse is. I want to ask, does anybody know if parametric modelling is planned for in 3DC? Say like modifier stack in 3DsMax/Blender. Thanks and it feels good to be back.
  13. Great to hear about that! For me, this flexibility of combining many hybrid techniques is what makes 3DC so attractive and futureproof. I really like the use of curves in the Modelling Room and knowing parametric modelling will also come to 3DC is great.
  14. I am new to 3DC and I have just started in the Modelling Room. I haven't tried the Sculpt Room as I am getting familiar with 3DC modelling tools and poly models-> paint room workflow. I have enjoyed it pretty much; the ability to do all this in the same software is quite enjoyable for me, however, judging from most of 3DC's online material, the Sculpting Room is where the real power lies. The voxel workflow is unique and unmatched, and surface mode can handle lots of detail and polycount. I can see why very experienced users would prefer dev efforts to go to Sculpt Room improvements and refinements, rather than building a new room from the ground up, even more so if there is very mature software in that area elsewhere. However, as an freelancer, 3DC having both approaches to creating geometry is such a blessing. I get to mix and match the tools to produce the geometry I want depending on their intended use. Real-time or offline rendering are all very approachable through these avenues. This complimentary approach to geometry, once both rooms reach certain level of maturity and interop, paired with the UV and retopo tools and perhaps some procedural geometry generation, will make of 3DC an absolute DCC powerhouse. I just hope the improvements for both rooms keep coming. We all win.

I have not found this functionality either, I am still experimenting a lot with the tools, but I have been able to do it using the standard Select/Transform and orienting the gizmo along the edge I want to slide. If the edge is at 90, 45, or 0 degrees it is easy to do, but when the chosen edge for sliding the vertex is at another angle, it does take manual adjustment.

  18. Congrats to the Dev Team on the new release! It is a joy to see the software improving constantly. I have not downloaded the new build yet as I am taking notes on tool behavior in the Modeling Room, later I will compare them to the most current build, and perhaps in the newer version the behavior has changed so I'll postpone the video on my notes for later. Mr. Gorbatovsky, I would like to ask, regarding the suggestions and observations I want to provide, would it be best to have them on video format or in text? Thanks a lot and congrats again on the release.
  19. Thank you for the prompt response. I search almost daily any material on 3D Coat and I find there are not many video tutorials on Poly Modelling. I am planning a series of videos on this topic and when I have a rough draft of them I intend to post them here first, hoping perhaps other forum members could watch them and help me see if I make any mistake regarding the tools, workflow or any false statement regarding the program. This would help guarantee only the best info is shared. It is my intention to use 3D Coat for the whole asset pipeline (along with the usual suspects: UE5, Blender, CC4, D5 etc.) and for now I am focusing on Poly Modeling, later I will get to the other rooms, for which I'll create didactic material as well. I'll be posting some tooling questions in the near future, thanks again!
  20. Hi everyone! I am new to 3d Coat and the forum. I have been delving into the Modeling room daily and I like it very much! I have used Blender and a bit of 3DS Max in the past and I really hope the Modeling room keeps evolving, I am looking forward to it. When I find myself with sufficient proficiency in it I hope I can do tutorials and videos on it. I just wanted to ask, should feature requests regarding the Modeling room be posted here or along the other requests in the feature request discussion? Thanks a lot, and keep up the good work on 3DC!
