  1. Awesome update Leigh. Yea the face is looking great and I can see the difference now on the hands. Small subtleties ya know? I notice the asymmetry on his face, splendid touch! Also the skin test is pretty impressive for me. This is polypaint right? I would love to see your work flow, perhaps a video on vimeo? No pressure..haha. I've always had a hard time with human skin my self. That mite creature I textured was all polypaint and I was impressed myself on how it came out. Keep the updates coming, awesome work. Alan.
  2. Awesome work Leigh, loving the updates so far. I'm liking that organic feeling of the hands and the boots are looking pretty cool too. The newest update on your face is looking fantastic. The mouth area is what is giving me the feeling of realism, not that the other parts are. I have a few crits that might help you. On your hands they are a few areas that might need some tweaking. Most importantly is that triangle shape in orange I shaded for you below the inner wrist. I think that shape is more recessed in and will help define those palm pads more. The other areas indicate where I think there should be more recesses. And the two blue lines indicate the two main wrinkles that are in between the index and thumb and create a small recess. And for your face, I think to me the frontal bone area where it meets with the zygomatic bone it becomes flat. I think it might be because a little more definition is needed on the top eye lid (more surface anatomy) and that top frontal shape indicated by the blue lines that look like horns. I think its called frontal eminence? Not sure about my anatomy names, its been a while..haha. Anyways I'm not trying to be an anatomy freak or anything, just thought it might help a little, and I don't think they are necessary as your sculpt is already awesome! Alan.
  3. awesome work Leigh. I see you started adding some detail. Are you planning to use all alphas to make the cloth patterns or are you just planning to use something like crazybump? Here is an example that might help you with your face. http://www.pixologic.com/interview/ArmyOfTwo40thDay/5/ For Army of Two they sculpted all of the characters with a subtle angry look. Not sure if it was for aesthetics or for actual facial rigging. Anyways, to me the look works where the procerus is pinching in together. So on your face, maybe just adding a little more of that. Its up to you of course, can be a small visual test. To me yours is looking more neutral and that works as well.
  4. awesome work Leigh. very inspirational too. I'm liking how this character has progressed. Did you seperate everything in 3d coat with the copy tool and just import everything as subtools in zbrush? Just wondering. My only crit is perhaps a little more weight on those larger pouches on the left with the mags. Its nothing big.
  5. Nice to hear what you are doing with your pipeline Leigh. Is your problem mainly because the voxel detail needed for your final normal map is just not stable? Too much trouble huh? It would be nice to see your zbrush progress as well. Thanks for sharing.
  6. This is looking nice. I really like the feel of the statue with the environment. Its working. I wonder about Vue, never used it before. It looks like its voxels like 3d coat?
  7. Hey Leigh, thanks for sharing. The update is looking nice. I know what you mean after working on a project for a while you start going blind to it. The only thing that is bothering me is the cloth, not that it looks wrong, just looking a little too bumpy. I'm not sure if you have worked on those areas or not. I'm pointing out to the pants and longsleeve. In my view, the cloth doesnt look bumpy on the turnable you uploaded before. I like to use the planar or flatten brush in Zbrush to establish some planes to help break the bumpiness. Is there something similar in 3d coat?
  8. awesome work again Leigh. That turnable came out nice. I know you are still working a lot of areas, but I can already see strong this character will be. Very pleasing to the eye. You said this will be for a fps? For mobile or something? Just wondering. Also, thanks for the feedback earlier. I agree with you. I think the cloth on my character is just to real and that was my intent..haha. It was just a study, but I kinda felt and knew that type of cloth would not work for game. I've been spending a lot of time hardsurface modeling lately, haven't done much character stuff in about a couple of months. So I kinda like to see your character work to re-vamp my motivation and energy.
  9. Loving this character Leigh. I like the tactical characters. His face is pretty interesting and its also a pleasure to see how you work in 3dcoat. You know sculpting vs traditional poly modeling. I also did a tactical type character for my folio called Bohdan and used Dolph Lundgren as ref.. You might even remember my japanese man sculpt from a while back. Disregard my lowpoly stuff for my mite and Bohdan characters, I'm aware of the inefficiancy. Alan. http://jalanflores.com/
  10. Hey Leigh, that assault rifle came out nice. I'm guessing the weapon was done in 3d coat? I also like that previous disembodied head, reminds me of Doom 3.
