  1. Not sure if he would want my rotten organs but OK! Now where did I put that surgical blade of mine?? **wonders off**
  2. Hmmm, I'm using Windows 7. I've got Pen and Touch in the Control Panel and there is no option to turn that off!! Believe me, I've looked under everything that has to do with mouse, tablet and Pen and Touch and can not find this option. They have either hidden it very well or I'm not looking in the right place!!
  3. OK< thanks so much folks!! I'll download and give that a try!! On a side note, I've asked all around about this with Wacom... can you tell me how to turn off of the stylus feedback when the pen is touching the tablet? Say I'm working in Photoshop and leave the stylus on the tablet for like a second too long there is this fat circle that appears and swirls around. Even my right click thing has this. I really want this feedback circle thing turned off, it's very distracting! Thanks again!!
  4. Hiya, Wanted to check in once again. I ended up with 3 crashes using the Wacom. 2 were with the 64bit DX and the other was with the 32 bit DX versions. It was instantaneous, not even the case of working and then it happening. I would put the stylus onto the work area of the tablet and it would crash the program. Is this a known bug?? I'm using Windows 7, 64 bit, Home Premium, NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT, Wacom IV. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the confirmation. Just didn't want to mess with that in case. Oh and this build seems a bit buggier than I thought. I picked up my wacom stylus to see how smoothly it would work in 3DC and WHAM instant crash. The program is set up, thank goodness, to send auto reports! WOW!!
  6. Well, in my humble opinion, one should have control over the bleed. It's so large that when I imported the two maps into Photoshop they overlapped pretty badly so then I had to go to all the trouble to hunt up the UV map of the shirt, import that in, do a selection, expand the selection by 3 pixels, fill in that blank area while the selection was still active and then crop each of the map layers by that newly created. Not horribly time consuming but it would be nice to save a little time. This would be accomplished with control over the bleed. What's "padding" in the prefs? Would that be "bleed"? Still seems odd to me that a set of maps can't be merged for exportation!!
  7. OK, well, still don't understand why that option seems to point to allowing one to import a folder of materials. Probably just how my brain is interpreting things!! LOL OK, while I got you here.... when I'm exporting a map from the Textures:Export menu how do I get them all on one sheet (so to speak) or is that something I have to set up before hand? I tried to merge the layers together (it's a shirt obj but it's uv mapped with the sleeves as separate materials) but that made no difference. 3DC is exporting them as separate maps which I then have to go into Photoshop to merge together!! Also the bleed is so so big, been looking around to find where to lower that. Bleeds really only need to be about 3 pixels at the most, this is way way over the that. THanks for the help! :-)
  8. Probably a stupid observation.... but I think I'll mention it anyway In the Material import using the down arrow on the upper left corner there is an option there to 'add existing folder'. I assumed that it meant I could import a new folder filled with materials or textures I wanted to use. Seems not. Anyway, when I get to the point of selecting the folder and then apparently I have to select a material (texture) in that folder nothing is imported and all the current, default, material vanish from the palette. Is this the proper way this program functions around importing materials, it clears out the previous ones? If so then why didn't the material I wanted to import show up?? Should I NOT use the drop down menu from the down arrow to try to import? If not then why is that option there?? If there is a way to tell the program NOT to clear out other materials in the palette perhaps an option should be added to tell the program to keep them. In any case, a bit confusing and not very intuitive to me. If I wanted to import a bunch of materials (or a folder filled with materials), rather than one at a time, is there a way to do this? On a good note, either this update made other areas of this program easier to use or my break from 3DC got things working differently in my brain and it's easier to understand. My intention is to use this program strictly for painting on 3D objects so I want to stay focused on that rather than getting confused trying to learn it all at once!! Thanks! Richard ;-)~
  9. OK, I THINK that's better..... OK, I've got a head started, want to import or create a sphere and duplicate that for the eyes on a new set of layers (or one layer with both eyes but want them separate from the main head. I tried importing both Pixel Painting and Microvertex and for Pixel import the program just loads up a new scene, not importing like I want. With Microvertex it will import but the sphere, while I can move it just doesn't seem to be really there. Like when I select the head the sphere's turn off or are made invisible. Advice please?? Thanks!
  10. Hiya, something is amiss here, not sure what this is all about. I have a really good system, Quad IV, 8 gigs of RAM and plenty of drive space and updated NVIDIA drivers (9 series video card) so see the image. Hmmm?? Also bit confused with how to invoke the objects dialog that your presented with when you first start up 3DC. Clicking on the 4 rooms does not update with the obj you have in one of them. Why is this?? If I wanted to paint and then sculpt on the one obj why wouldn't clicking on the next room update to have that obj in there?? Isn't that what easy "work flow" is all about? Thanks
  11. I certainly be interested in the training but won't be able to attend. I hope that the recorded version links will be easily accessible as I'd really like to watch and learn when I can!!
  12. Not running Linux right now as I want a dedicated rig for that since I install it AFTER I have Windows and it always corrupts my boot loader so I will put my vote in but will have to wait a bit till I can cobble together that other rig (I have the box to do it but .... too busy right now to set it up)
  13. Thanks so much for all your hard work and for the new UI. Looks really good so far!!
  14. If you are concerned about the extra dialogs that don't really fit how about doing this. How about tabbed dialogs like in Photoshop CS3 or 4?? When you hover or click on a tab the dialog pops out. There is an option to set it so it auto collapses if you wish. Keeps the work space very neat and clean.
  15. Hi Zardock, Yea, that's what I did in UVMapper Pro and the results are MUCH nicer but then how do I get the maps split back up again?? Eeeek!! I'd hate to do all this work and then realize that I'm stuck with a singular map. I actually just merged all of M4 together, deleted out the eyelashes, inner mouth (teeth and tongue as well) and all things "eyeball" since I can do those in Photoshop easily enough. I hate hate hate seams and in Photoshop it's just not fun looking over you work thinking it looks great and then seeing what a mess it is when wrapped around the obj. SO 3DCoat seems like a great app so far for getting over those humps. Andrew, thanks for the link. I do have a suggestion for you for a future update. Can you set the program up so that folks can actually turn off Materials and not just Groups?? This would come in VERY VERY handy. Also, I noticed when using the texture editor, when M4 was in his original grouping, was really strange acting. It's now showing the groups correctly (even though they are merged, they are still broken up and laid out separately). So using this dialog *IS* there a way to select a group (like the Head) and zoom in on it and work on it?? Thanks for the help folks, glad your here and trying to direct me!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
  16. OK, I've not heard a lick from anyone besides Maya. I really thought this community was going to be helpful to those of us that are newbies. I do have a question that perhaps someone can help me with. Say I'm importing a Poser figure into 3DCoat such as Michael 4 or Victoria 4 from DAZ3D. Can someone at least post a screen grab of your settings from the "Loading Object" dialog?? That would be most helpful to me since I think this does determine how heavy the object is. Thanks much Richard ;-)~
  17. OK, not understanding. Can you give me a run down of what needs to be done in order to get him imported into 3DCoat?? Like what do you check off when importing him, are you just importing in the obj or as you say prepare him in another program first? Why must or should this be done?? I don't have any high end program. I do have UVMapper Pro though so if it's something I can do in that program then instruct me please.... Thanks Carrara 7 was released recently at DAZ and believe me the new 3D Paint engine isn't anything to get overly excited about according to the folks that are playing around with it. So I think I'll stick with trying to get a work flow going with 3DCoat!! Happy Holidays to all!!
  18. Hi, I'm a total noob but have been interested in your program. Now that Michael 4 is released I'm interested in knowing how to use it but first I need to get the patient properly imported. Read on..... I imported Michael 4 from DAZ3D into 3DCoat and well.... there are these messages that appear at the bottom every few seconds that slow down the program and I imagine that the size of M4 doesn't help. Is there a way to set things up (as in turning off the messages?) so this is not an issue?? I can not work like this. It's literally like being on a single processor again with 1 gig of RAM, yea, it's that bad. Also, upon importation it seems to be reading the body sections as maps instead of the UV Map that DAZ gave us with M4, it's got everything broken down to separate maps right down to toe nails and fingernail maps. I really don't like this since exporting these, I'm afraid, I'm going to be piecing this all together in Photoshop. What would you suggest I do to get 3DCoat to read the mesh as expected and offer me size options then?? There are a total of 9 templates for M4 (Eyebrow, Face, Torso, Limbs, Teeth, Eyes, Lashes, EyeSurface and Genitals). Limbs has all nails included in it. Eyes combines all eye elements like Iris, Pupil, Sclera and so forth... Thanks for your help!! Richard ;-)~
  19. Hiya, Thanks for the settings but I did just a straight importation of the blVittorioV4.obj file. So how ever he's uv'd is how it went in. I checked off the keep uv's (or however it's worded). I'm mostly wanting to do full skin painting for him or other obj's since that's what I specialize in. Not much into modeling or morphs... yet!!
  20. OK, downloaded the demo. Importing in the main mesh was not an issue at all. Uh but I think I selected the wrong options for the UVMapping. He's got a face in the middle of his torso!!
  21. Hmmm, so if I wanted to import in the Vittorio 4 mesh, which is 10.5 Mb's then I wouldn't be able to do so in order to poly paint his full body and face?? If not then I might suggest then in a future upgrade to allow for larger obj's to be imported in. Perhaps raise this up to as high as 25Mb ceiling. Thanks for your prompt replies. Much appreciated!!
  22. Hiya, I've been watching this program develop over the past year or so. It's getting harder and harder to resist the temptation of buying it. I notice a fellow member here mentioned about Hex and Deep Paint (which I have both) had failed in numerous ways and that's a plus seeing that noted for me. I had so many high expectations for Deep Paint and was sorely disappointed in the work flow, very clunky and virtually NO SUPPORT. The forums are a complete joke, very clickish or posts not answered in a timely fashion which as a moderator myself I find very rude. Modo was my next stop but you know.... $900.00 for someone that mostly does freebie stuff for the 3D community just seems to be a bit of over the top!! I'm really impressed by the vids that show how to apply bump and displacement mapping onto an object, seems very good to me. My main concern is that the size of obj's that can be used in this program. Perusing through a few threads seems to indicate that the obj's can't be over a certain size or the program will crash out or freeze up the end users program. So bringing in a model done in say ZBrush would be a no no then?? So my main question for now is what are the limitations for this program in this way? Perhaps I was reading the information wrong but that wouldn't be the first time for me either!! Thanks much Richard (RAMWolff) ;-)~
