  1. Starting from version 3.7.18A the “Retopo” mode should weld vertices by tablet.
  2. Please note that the document “How to install CUDA under Linux” states that you should remove the driver only in outdated Linux distros, like Ubuntu 9.04, CentOS 5.5, Fedora 14. In those Linux distros there is no other way to install new driver. The latest Ubuntu’s default driver supports CUDA out of the box.
  3. Hello, Pixo! Move the vertex closer to the other one (please see the attached screenshots). To be merged the vertices should be closer. This is the same behaviour like in Windows version of 3D-Coat.
  4. The build 3D-Coat 3.7.14B for Linux and Mac OS X has been updated. Please download it again. Just in case please remove this file: [Linux] /home/YourUserName/3D-CoatV3/ToolsPresets/VoxelToolSets.xml [Mac OS X] /Users/YourUserName/3D-CoatV3/ToolsPresets/VoxelToolSets.xml
  5. There was an error in one shader. The build 3D-Coat 3.7.14B for Mac OS X has been updated. Please download it again.
  6. For those who have similar problem here is a solution to try. We have installed Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2 and have switched it to 32-bit kernel. 3D-Coat works under 32-bit kernel on Leopard 10.5.2. It turns out that Mac OS X sometimes shows the error message “You can’t open the application XXX because it is not supported on this architecture” because Launch Services for some unknown reason flag the application as unsupported. The solve the problem it is necessary to reset Launch Services database. To reset Launch Services database you should do in Terminal: 1. Find command line utility “lsregister”: $ find /System/Library/Frameworks -name "lsregister" 2. Change current directory to the location of the utility “lsregister”: $ cd /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support 3. As administrator reset the Launch Services database: $ sudo ./lsregister -kill -r -all local, system, user
  7. Hello, Eric! Just tried the “Eraser” tool under Mac OS X Lion on iMac and Mac Pro in the Paint Room. The problem doesn’t manifest itself. Please provide additional details. Is the problem reproducible when you start 3D-Coat and select the default plane in Per Pixel Painting mode? Or the problem manifests itself only on your specific scene? P.S. By the way yesterday the package 3D-Coat 3.7.10A has been updated with several Mac-related bug fixes.
  8. 3D-Coat screen flickering problem under Mac OS X Lion has been reproduced and resolved. The package with 3D-Coat 3.7.10A has been updated several minutes ago. The latest version of 3D-Coat you can always find in this thread: http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8887
  9. The crash report option is available only under Windows. For crash reports 3D-Coat uses FEX library which is based on technology that works only under Windows: http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/11132/Walking-the-callstack In practice crashes under Linux and Mac OS X within 3D-Coat routines strictly correlates with crashes under Windows. If 3D-Coat crashes under Linux and Mac OS X it for sure crashes under Windows. There are problems which are specific to Linux and Mac OS X. As it turned out those problems come from platform specific functions from the engine. Most of the time because of compatibility issues. Such problems are resolved through cooperation with the user who encountered a problem. Platform specific issues usually don’t tend to crash, they tend to function improperly, therefore crash report system doesn’t help anyway in such cases.
  10. Hello, Andrew! 3D-Coat asks to re-enter serial number when modification time of “/bin” folder has been changed. 3D-Coat links serial number to the computer. The only unique identifier which 3D-Coat can request without requiring administration authentication is modification time of system directory “/bin”. When modification time of folder “/bin” changes then 3D-Coat requires to re-enter serial number (see attached screenshot). So please remember the modification time of “/bin” folder and note does it change?
  11. It’s ok as long as the executable names are different (and they are). I’ll install Lion. Let’s hope that the issue will manifest itself.
  12. The issue should be fixed in the latest build 3D-Coat 3-7-07A. Thanks a lot for the detailed report and the comparison between versions!
  13. The dialog "Import object for per pixel painting" has an edit box "UV-set name". Please try to click on screen to find that edit box. It seems like the dialog exists, but is invisible. Ok Please copy the executable to the folder with 3D-Coat data files.
  14. The difference is that regular builds are compiled against older SDK 10.5, because there were some requests to include Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard support. When you click File/Import/Model for per pixel painting do you see file selection dialog? Does 3D-Coat stop responding after selecting model file and closing file dialog?
  15. There is no any reason why 3D-Coat should not support Lion :-D Please try this test executable. http://www.3d-coat.com/~sergyi/3D-Coat-10.6.zip It has been compiled against the latest SDK. But frankly speaking I think that the reason is within another video driver, which, most probably, was also updated during system update. Maybe it doesn't support big textures like 8K and above? Have you tried 4K, 2K? What exactly do you see during import for PPP: crash, flickerings. hang over?
  16. Please specify step by step how did you get those UVs. Because Voxels/Merge/Cube.obj/~1M/AUTOPO/AUTOPO for Per Pixel works fine.
  17. The Candy-floss Kid, cl-apps, michalis, Tser Packages 3D-Coat-V3-7-05B for Mac OS X and Linux have been updated. Bugs with AUTOPO and Proxy Mode should be fixed.
  18. Hello! Regarding hangs on switching to proxy mode. I can’t reproduce that. So please specify: 1. Does it hang on default voxel sphere (just run 3D-Coat, select default voxel sphere, click on “proxy mode” icon in Vox Tree)? Or does it hang only on specific model? 2. What operation do you perform before entering “proxy mode”? Maybe some import of texture (and in what format, like “jpg”)? 3. Do you see this problem in previous builds (like 04C)?
  19. I have two systems. iMac with OS X 10.6.8 (compiling and debugging), and Mac Pro with Mac OS X 10.5.2 (only for tests).
  20.

Hello, michalis!
 1. About “creature” mesh. Please send couple of system generated crash reports which were caused by different operations. For example crash on “Surface mode”, then crash report for drawing, etc (to understand is 3D-Coat crashing in the same place or not when executing different tasks). There are no problems like those on my iMac (10.6.8, ATI Radeon HD 4670) and Mac Pro (10.5.2, NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT). Does anyone else have problems with that “creature” mesh? By the way, michalis, what is your system language (just to check one theory)?
2. Cube and problems with refreshing. You are right. That problem is reproducable on any platform. Thanks!
P.S. And again about “creature” mesh. Is this the only model which causes such problems?
  21. 3D-Coat (starting from version 3-5-24) had been rewritten using Cocoa library instead of Carbon to implement 64-bit support. There were some significant changes which, probably, lead to such issue.
Please perform your last test again, but this time resize the window of 3D-Coat. Do you see the dialog after resizing the window?
  22. Hello! Thanks for the video, but please specify:
 1. Only the latest build of 3D-Coat for Mac OS X (3.7.02C) has this problem? Do you remember the version of 3D-Coat where the problem didn’t exist?
2. Is this bug always reproducable with any of your models or only with particular ones?
  23. Maybe it is driver related? Today I have installed Linux Ubuntu 11.04 and Linux Ubuntu 11.10. My tablet Wacom Graphire 4 with default drivers worked on both of them w/o the LiveClay bug. I have compiled test executable for you. Please download it from here: http://www.3d-coat.com/~sergyi/3d-coat-64-liveclay-tablet-bug.tar.gz Please run it. Select default voxel sphere. Go to surface mode. Select LiveClay brush and do just one stroke (with the bug) on your tablet. Close 3D-Coat, and send Log.txt to me.
  24. Regarding LiveClay tablet bug. The package 3D-Coat-V3-7-02C has been updated again. The version has not been changed, so please make sure that the executable has the date “January 3, 2012”.
  25. LiveClay tablet bug has been fixed. The package 3D-Coat-V3-7-02C has been updated. Please download it again.
