  1. I should really stop speaking on behalf of the authors... but, I would imagine that so long as you're also keeping your thread on this forum up to date you may do as you please in regards to posting it elsewhere, I don't think 3d coat would say no to having more people know about their software and the competition itself.

    EXACTLY :)

    Posting everywhere is very welcomed!

  2. Pretty valid question, it states that texturing must be done in 3d coat, but I think we can all agree that the need to jump into photoshop to do something often arises. Technically the photoshop integration is part of 3dc (like the projection stuff), so I don't see why it wouldn't be allowed.

Of course, you may use Photoshop, but use it reasonably )) keeping in mind that texturing must be done in 3D-Coat.

  3. I need more info on those:

    3. The model should be sculpted and textured in 3D-Coat.

    4. Poly-modeled in other 3D modeling software is allowed.

If I get correct, I can poly-model my vehicle for example in Maya, but must finish it sculpting in 3D-Coat + texturing too? There is no way to model/sculpt in other apps, but make textures in 3D-Coat for this competition, right?

Yes, you can poly-model in Maya. You may not sculpt if you don't need to. Texturing must be done in 3D-Coat. If you need to sculpt, then sculpting also must be done in 3D-Coat.

    Good luck! :)

  4. I'm going to participate it.  I'm highly motivated.

I have questions.  it's image size and number of images.

"image longest size should not be less than 1920px"

    600 x 400   px = Good or Bad?     1920 x 400 px = Good or Bad?

    400 x 1920 px = Good or Bad?     2048 x 400 px = Good or Bad?

    400 x 2048 px = Good or Bad?     2048 x 2048 px = Good or Bad?

    and,

How many images can I make?

one person one image? or  can I submit a lot of images?

You can make several images if you wish. Longest size means horizontal for landscape orientation and vertical for portrait orientation. Best proportions are 16:10, 16:9, 3:2, 4:3, 1:1 - I would stick to those (approximately) :)

  5. That sounds awesome.

Does The 30 day trial includes all features?

Can I use another software for Mdeol/Sculpt and then Use 3D-Coat for Retopology, Uvw, Texture Painting and Final Render?

I think that I might give it a try! =D

    30-days trial IS fully functional!

You can make polygonal modeling in other 3D software, but if you want to do sculpting, you must do it in 3D-Coat.

    Good luck and stay tuned!

  7. Thanks for the reply , works great but how can I then move that AUTOPO version once it's done to a new sub-object in the vox tree ? because right now it only seems to exist in the retopo objects panel

Could you tell us what is your GOAL? What do you want to do, produce, etc..?

That will help us to suggest you the proper/better workflow. Maybe (almost sure) you don't need to retopologize your model in order to put it back to Vox-tree...

  8. Hi Jamie,

The very first thing that you should be aware of is that you reached 25 000 000 of triangles on your screenshot! You simply standing nearby going out of RAM and hanging your PC.

    - RMB on the Layer, find Resample command, and reduce to at least 0.25-0.3

Secondly, if you don't draw with rectangles after that, try to change paint mode (in E-panel (stands for the shotkey)) to Brush and then back to rectangle.

But I hope the very first hint should work for you ;)

  9. Guys, glad to know you are searching for the best result. I agree with Taros that Cycles gives more true (truer?) picture as it uses ray tracing, etc. + anti-aliasing making it look not as crisp as in 3dc's viewport.

For me, I'm totally happy with the Cycles results (after tweaking Roughness RGB curve).

BTW for my above pictures I used 50-64 samples ;)

Malo, could you give me that gun with textures for tests??? )
