ZbrushCore, a new streamlined version of Zbrush (Indie?)
Nossgrr replied to RabenWulf's topic in CG & Hardware Discussion
I just couldnt pass ZB for $119. I checked the features page and indeed it has export to .obj. Bought it. I hope in the future they'll loosen the features a bit and include stuff like GoZ and decimation. In the meantime, 3D Coat meets all my retopo and paint needs I'll let you guys know how it is once it's released. -

Eesh.. What's the point of the app then? It's like having an electric guitar that doesnt plug into anything. lol -
ZbrushCore, a new streamlined version of Zbrush (Indie?)
Nossgrr replied to RabenWulf's topic in CG & Hardware Discussion
Says on the page you can use it commercially, two installations permitted (only one can run at any time). They gave more features than i expected.. Zspheres and dynamesh made the cut.. One that didnt is GoZ.. That one bugs me.. About the modeling restrictions, 20 mil polys and 30 3dtools (object parts) seems reasonnable for a starter edition. I didnt stay up for all of it, did they talk about ZB 5 at all? -

The new Wacom Intuos 3D comes bundled with ZBrush Core, $199 price tag so Core cant be that expensive on it's own.. I need a new tablet so this is very exciting. I guess we'll know on Sept 30th for Core and hopefully ZB5 -
Amazon Lumberyard - New free Gamengine
Nossgrr replied to Carlosan's topic in CG & Hardware Discussion
Well how about that timing... Turns out CryEngine 5.2 made good headway on .FBX Static and Animation Import.. Posted 3 days ago for the 5.2 release. Looks like a solid release too. -
Amazon Lumberyard - New free Gamengine
Nossgrr replied to Carlosan's topic in CG & Hardware Discussion
Depends what you want to do, Lumberyard added tight integration with their cloud services, so if multiplayer games is your target then it might be worth looking into. At the core, they're both using Cryengine up until pre-version 5. What I like about Cry\Lumber is everything looks pretty damn good out of the box and the price.. What I dont like about them is the dreaded art pipeline, you pretty much need Max or Maya + photoshop to get your assets in pain free.. They've both started implementing a .FBX importer but it's far from ready.. It does mostly static meshes and most of them are hit and miss.. As an indie company, I cant add Max\Maya licenses, it's just not possible money wise. So until that is addressed, it's UE4 or Unity3D \ Modo Indie for me. -
I'm usually not a fan of subscriptions but they made their point system reasonable.. Atlases = 1 point Surfaces = 1-3 points 3D Assets = 3-8 points Own downloads Permanently Redownload for Free Top-Up Anytime

While we're teasing zombies... Saw the list of features for Mudbox 2017... Sooooo dead! I think it's one new brush.. Someone probably dug up an old alpha that was left in a folder and slapped it on. I was also hoping to see the dyna sculpting features we saw in a Maya tech demo last year but nope, nothing on new on the sculpting side of things except performance. I dont use Maya but still had hopes for MB.. RIP.

It is.. I'm in Canada and our dollar exchange rate with the US is taking a pounding lately.. Hey I noticed that 3DCoat 4.7 was released today, if there's a board member that already has a R480, maybe they can chime in on performance? Same goes for 1070s 1080s owners.
-
The Nvidia offerings are very expensive here, $900 for a GT1080, $650 for a GT1070.. If I do a bit of extrapolation, the GT1060 will be around $400+ here. On AMDs side, the R480 w/8gigs of ram version is $280.. I'm currently leaning towards AMD but I'll let this simmer for a few weeks and see what the real performance numbers are with the GT1060.. Hopefully we'll have a better idea of the retail price for the 1060 by then.

So now we know what team Red has lined up, a Geforce GTX 980 competitor for $200. From what I can tell, they're positioning this card for mid market, not high end. The high end counterpart will be out later this year. I'm still on a 1080P monitor, I'm not sure I'd benefit from a Geforce GTX 1080, If I would go team green I'd probably go with the GTX1070... Still, I could get two RX480 that brings it on par with a 1080 for around $400. Now the question is, would I miss Cuda?.. Decisions, decisions. What do you guys think? http://www.pcworld.com/article/3077432/components-graphics/polaris-confirmed-amds-200-radeon-card-will-bring-high-end-graphics-to-the-masses.html

Houdini 15.5 Indie, now with external Rendering support

Does the $300 yearly fee include all the training you see on the site? It does look good. One thing I'd like to see is the dates and software version used in the courses. -

Download worked for me, those poly bevel ramp controls are amazing.. Solid release. -
That's a very specialized setup, I think that for artists (and gamers) the GTX1080 has pretty much everything you'd want.

That fixed it, no more banking! tvvvm!

Hi Carlosan, I knew about the customize nav options, I just cant figure out the option that makes the orbit rotation bank when in ZB nav mode. I assume it's the LMB action since that's what the Wacom stylus basically does when it hits the screen but I dont see the option...
-
Question, How do I disable banking in 3DCoat with ZBrush Navigation selected? I like 3DCoat's default orbit around the object (without banking), but when I use my Cintiq with ZB navigation, it adds banking. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
