  1. At the moment I am not sure I would know If something is working properly or not or how to improve it. I guess once I learn a bit more I can make a more informed choice. I bet I will be soon enough downloading every update as soon as it arrives
  2. Hi, I ve just got 3dCoat( EDU version) So I am just finding my feet with it so to speak. What I am curious about at the moment ,is upgrades . According to the Help tab in the software you can check for updates...it says I am up to date (3.701b) which is fine. When I hover my cursor over the downloads at the head of this thread it says 3.702C, but I believe this is a beta and that I am running the "stable" version? What do folks do about this....do you download the latest betas? And does this just replace the version you are running or do you have then 2 versions running? And how often are the betas updated, should I come back often to check or would I be on some sort of Email list informing me.
  3. There is ALWAYS gonna be a newer version just around the corner! Why not wait for Version 5 cos that will be even better than 4 ! I got the EDU version to tinker with in a hobby sort of way. That way I can see if I can figure it out, at a reasonable price, and I can upgrade later if need be. Im sure there will be good deals to be had down the line......maybe next xmas? or a summer sale? The retopo tools are miraculous.I usually uv in Carrara and more recently ,really lazyly in Sculptris. But 3DC seems to do it all without much effort and neater! 80 of your Earth Pounds well spent.......
  4. Hey there Gravin! Ta for the reply. Im slowly figuring stuff out. Seems all them extra tools I was seeing in a tutorial were in "Liquid Clay" which I think means your Voxels are tuned to a polymesh while you are in this mode. And yes I an noticing a few name changes along the way also, but now I realise this I can adapt a bit quicker! I got the Camera view shortcut to work by re assigning them, strange the default ones didnt work. But they do work in perspective. I got the wire frame thing sorted out also. But it dosent work as I hoped it would, I wanted it to be like Sculptris, where you can sculpt in Wireframe also, not sure why though, I guess in Sculptris it lets you see the curves a bit diffrently and the subdivsions. Still it all seems a bit less complicated than Zbrush, and it works really well with Sculptris. And as Im only hobby-ing at the moment I figure 80 quid is a bargain price!
  5. Hello people, this is my first post, probably the first of many.So I will start simple. Ive downloaded the trial vers and seem to be getting the grasp of it,.There are a couple of niggles, that may just be down to operator error just from being new. I cant seem to be able to change camera views with the keyboard, I have to pull down the tab and use the mouse, even though the shortcut is visable in the brackets.I have been to Prefs to reset, but no luck. Is it possible to see a Voxel object in wireframe, I have the box checked, but it dosnt work, even in polygon mode? When I "Pan", it seems to be a bit sticky sometimes. I've not waded through the forums yet ,I will do that soon enough. I have been watching a few tutorials ,on some of them there seems to be more Voxel tools than are available to me.Is the trial version incomplete or has it just been altered in this vers ( 3.7) regards Stu
