  1. Hi ancient regime,

Thats not a real retopo-mesh in modo, thats a mesh generated by the boolean-Modo-plugin MeshFusion, using not destructive boolean operations (and then merged).

That mesh was imported in Zbrush and decimated/retopoed in zRemesher, to get rid of the tris around the seams (merged areas). :)

  2. Yeah, but then Andrew has to charge at least 600-700$ for 3DC

@MeshFusion: since i have modo now, ill probably buy it in the future,

but what have really makes me sad for 3DC,

how awesome ZRemesher is for  Hard Surface Retopology on the MeshFusion(ed) models.

Zbrush beats here 3DC in its (former) home game (at least for HardSurface).

  3. @Malo:

Thanks, Its a nice way to improve look of the model, but im not completely satisfied with the handling of the spline-curves.

Dont know if there is a way to avoid the bending/distortion of the spline elements. I havent found a solution yet.

If anyone knows how to get the spline element accurate and straight, so that the elements itself dont get distorted in any way, please tell me.

I maybe just dont know the right settings here.

    @monkeybrain:

    thanks

  4. Thanks guys for posting

@Malo: Nice Progress on the Head :)

@Monkeybrain: You picked a pose already, that means you will not use symmetry.. Good luck. :) I had a hard time with my Hercules Entry without using symmetry, but it helped somehow for personal progress. The left shoulder looks somehow out of proportion, take a look there.

    Heres my first WIP-step...

As always... Beginning with the head :D

    All done in 3DCoat.

Aiming a more cartoonish look this time.

        @chingchong

About point 3 of the contest.

Is it ok if i use the logo as a merchandise object on the cloth?

    Yes of course  :)

That rule seemed to me like a interesting task, to see in how many creative ways a simple guideline can be interpreted.

And as a side effect this will be a tribute to that great software :)

    Btw:  very good start :)

  6. Yes, it sounds good, I will give my first try here ... 1 1/2 Months is time enough ;)

    I want to try to made a Icehockey-scene :)

I have only one question, how do you would made a larger goal-net-textile in 3D Coat - using voxels (no alpha Maps) would be made a huge Voxelfile? Without rendering in external 3D Aps?

You can use other apps too in this challenge, just make sure you stay atleast 50% in 3DCoat. If a task is more simple to do in another app, dont hesitate to use it, just let us know in your WIP-Posts here.

I think i would try it with curves but in surface mode (if to do in 3DC).

    Winter Games sounds cool.

I like this! I will try to enter this :))

Sounds good. Looking forward to the entries! :)

Glad you like it :). I you have some concepts already just post in here.

Just to add more, you can also create your personal "Winter Sports", doesnt have to be only the  "Olympic" ones.

If there are some regional, unusual, traditional winter sports... those are also welcome, just leave us a short story about it

Only make sure to implement 3DCoat Reference in your entries ( Curious with what you guys will came along :) ).

    5. Deadline would be last day in February, if this is to tight, please advise... can be expanded :)

  8. yeah i know that wrinkle clay is bad, it wasnt a bug report at all, just for amusement about the result... so no need for further exploration/ investigation. in that issue... sorry , should have clarified that.

i was only trying different settings with the brush, to get at least one good wrinkle with that brush or at least to get the idea, why its called wrinkleClay. Btw normally i would use your sharp preset to get wrinkles.
