  1. Can this perhaps be moved to the relevant section? There is no tutorial in this thread.
  2. Not a bug per se, but something that does need fixing. Keystrokes, and pop-up hints for Glossiness, Roughness, and Metalness are mixed up and have been for a long time (since V4 at least - and still the same in 2023.01 1: Glossiness and Roughness sliders are interconnected (understandably), but the keystroke hint tells us that Roughness uses the "<" & ">" keys - This is incorrect, "," & "." are the keystrokes used for both glossiness and Roughness . Yet in the keystrokes file they are < & > - and they do work. 2: Additionally, Metalness also shows the hints that "<" & ">" keys are used - when metalness has no keystroke assigned. 3: We are shown in the Windows/Sliders Menu that Glossiness Opacity uses keystrokes ";" & "'" but the ' key is used by the Quick Menu, and the ; key does nothing - there is no slider for the Glossiness Opacity on the brush or channel menu, so why is this shown in the Slider Menu along with these keystrokes? The Layers Menu has Gloss Opacity, but no keystrokes assigned. This is not what the Sliders menu is referring to. The manual says the keys are ; and / (which also do not do anything). 4: The terms used are confused. The Channel controls on the Brush menu bar menu uses Glossiness Intensity, but describes it as Metalness. Intensity and Degree also seem to be used interchangably.
  3. One thing I found a bit confusing / annoying - is that even after your 12 months free upgrades are finished (like the OP, mine were last Summer, and 2022.34 is the last stable release available for my 2021 license), you still get told that a new stable build is available on the Splash Screen... even though its release is outside the 12 month cut-off, and installing it results in you having a "Learning" version. EG I currently have a prompt to install New stable build: 2022.38 Another thing to be aware of, is that last years installs went into a folder with the year 2021 appended to the folder name - now this is 2022. You can therefore accidentally run the wrong version if you are using old shortcuts. If you install the latest version or any that you do not have a license for, they will overwrite your current 2022 version. You can grab the correct version & reinstall, but it is possible that you might lose some settings.
  4. Still no joy? I can only get Modo to Open 2022, but 3dc does not attempt to import the object from Modo Tried in Modo V10, and v14
  5. We do pay VAT here still. VAT rates vary though. SOme countries charge a higher percentage than others, so it is best if it is displayed with VAT.
  6. Are people in the US not able to look up exchange rates? It doesn't show pounds Sterling either, but I overcame that hurdle. A bigger problem that you should worry about is that the prices do not have VAT added. This is not correct IMO. VAT should be added to the price or the rate of VAT (which varies from state to state), should be shown.
  7. Just as a sidenote: The Blender plug-in seems to work fine with Blender 2.93.1. The current Modo plugin (V3.0.2 / 3.0.3 depending on who you believe) however, fails to retrieve data after "open in original app" is used in 3DC V2021.01 or 3DC V2021.02. This version is of course not being made available for Download, as with any of the other apps apart from Blender. Using the exact same export settings and Modo plugin, the export & retrieval in Modo works as adverstised, using 3DC V4.9.74 Bug in 3dc?
  8. I have tested 2021.02 and the scaling behaves the same way here. Also, FYI. Auto scaling works absolutely fine on my 1900x1080 monitor. As I mentioned, it is easily overcome by setting the Theme scale to medium or small rather than Auto. I wish more 3d apps had interface scaling was adjustable.
  9. With 2DCoat 2021, only the Blender Applink is available for download. What happened to the Modo plug-in & others?
  10. 3DC 20201rc3: Using a 2560x1440 monitor, Preferences at default, post install. The default Theme/Font Size setting of Auto causes some Interface buttons to not appear within their dialog boxes, especially when they are at the right side of the box.. EG: Smart Material Preview window push pin is not visible because the text overlaps it, until you resize the window. The Fixed size Export Objects and textures dialog texture disable buttons appear almost completely off the right hand side of the dialog. An experienced user will notice the problem, but someone who doesn't know what is missing will have problems. In my case, setting the font scale manually cleared up the problem, but only because I already knew about the issue.
  11. Has anyone tried this on 3dc 2021? I am not able to pull textures back to Modo (v10). They export from 3dc OK, to a folder named ModoDefaultScene, which is automatically created by 3dc, but Modo gives the error "Object file not found: <path to exchange\export.txt> " The path is correct, the files exist, it should work. Clues?
  12. Well, I have just installed the RC3 version, and then run the "Check for updates" menu option, & it says I have the latest version... So that will do for me. I must say, I was surprised to see the rc3 tag in the filename though.
  13. Same here, however, after resetting my password, (may be coincidental), it seems to work when I log in manually. Just Log into your account manually using your email address. Then your licence for v4 and whatever else you have will show up, with an upgrade button. If you are eligable, it will automatically set you up with a 2021 license.
  14. I have multiple displays, but no offset is happening in sculpt or paint modes. I'm using a Wacom Cintiq 12" tablet, and everything is as installed by default. Haven't had chance to test in-depth yet, but it looks great so far!
  15. Argh... Belay all that. It seems that I am unable to Upgrade to V4.0 because my licence is an upgrade from version 2.0. It would be no problem if I only had the original V2 license, but not a V3.0 upgrade. You can't upgrade if you have upgraded before? you have to buy a new full licence? Can I revoke my V3.0 licence, convert it back to a V2 licence, so I can then upgrade to V4? The blurb doesnt say anything about this issue. "3D-Coat is a frequently updated program. If you own an older generation license, such as V2 or V3, use this option to upgrade to the latest of 3D-Coat. After upgrading you will receive a new key enabling you access to the latest features of 3D-Coat."
  16. You already have 4. Professional, the only upgrade you need is the new version when it comes out - presumably for a slightly higher amount than the current $99 according to the announcement. I'm not sure that they have fixed prices just yet - maybe someone will answer, but an email might be a more direct way. This current offer is to encourage new purchases of V4 so they get the upgrade in a month or so when it comes out, and not have people just waiting for the new version in case they miss out. Unfortunately, those that have had V4 for a long time miss out - but they have had access to the whole of V4s free updates for years - so swings and roundabouts... I have V3 and having looked at the latest release of v 4.95 or whatever it is now, I can say that you have plenty to be getting on with for the time being, especially if you haven't looked at it for a while. Either way, as always, I'm sure it will be interesting to see what comes next.
  17. Thanks for the prompt reply. I will order my upgrade, and look forward to the new version.
  18. I would like to know if I upgrade my V3 Pro licence to V4 today, for $99+VAT, do I get the offer of a free upgrade to V2021 or not? It was stated that post V2021, the upgrade price will rise. How much will it rise, and will I have top pay again if I upgrade now? On a side note: I think the licencing is fairly clear, but it does not address the fact that "freelancers" might have a company, but are still individual operators. The easiest way might be to define a Pro licence as for commercial work in a company that has more than x employees or more than $$$ income per year in the way that others do. Earn more than the threshold and you pay for Pro.
  19. Bump: Now I have a new system using a smallish SSD for Windows, etc, this is now more important. Any answers to this? I don't see any config files or registry entries (win 7 64) dealing with this.
  20. Yup. It's been like that for a long time now, and can get annoying, since rotating it in the pen/brush settings causes other problems. It has been reported, but clearly it isn't a problem to anyone else I'm sure it is a simple thing to fix when and if it eventually gets high enough in the list of things to do.
  21. First off, you can create a new Voxel volume and put voxels on that without damaging the layer underneath. The Toothpaste tool is useful to get an initial covering that respects the parents surface, though other tools will intersect, even if they are not changing the layer you are painting over.. Or you can use any tool such as sphere, and ignore the fact that the new clay is intersecting with the other volume, then using a copy of the original volume, (right click on the layer in the Voxtree), and create a clone or an instance of it then right click on that & select Subtract From, with the name of the new covering layer as your selection, and it will boolean the new layer to fit the contours of the original layer, deleting itself in the process. Other than that, I don't know of anything you can do - but then I'm not a 3dc expert, so don't give up.
  22. I may be considered by "some" to be not a pro for using a Trust tablet, but at £80 compared to £400 as a replacement for my worn out Wacom A4 Intuous, it's just fine for now on every app apart from 3dc. I don't want to wear out my Wacom Cintiq by using it as a mouse substitute. I'd lay money on the fact that a good deal of the user base for 3dc is not in the "Pro" bracket in any case, so I would expect many of them to consider the cost of a Wacom a little high when cheaper alternatives can be had for much less wonga. PS. Those tablets do have pressure sensitivity listed in the specs. They are probably working in a similar way to the trust/Genious tablets, and at about $40 each, you can afford to take a shot, even if they only last a few months while you save up for that Cintiq.
  23. Is there no one else that is using a non-Wacom tablet? For example, a Trust Design Tablet or Genious Tablet, that don't use Wacom drivers, and can not use the pressure levels at all in 3dc on Windows Vista? Other 3d apps and Photoshop work fine with these tablets, but not 3dc. If I plug in my Wacom, that works, but not the Trust tablet I use day-to-day. Here's hoping that one day, it might be fixed.
  24. Lightwave has a dongle and a license, so not having one or the other of those might make upgrading tricky, and the only way I can see a box coming in from LW with extra faces is if you hit the keys to create a default 1 unit box twice, then saved it.
  25. It would be nice to see some basic support for tablets that don't use Wacom drivers to make use of pressure levels. At the moment, my Wacom works fine, but the Trust Widescreen tablet I also use has no pressure sensitivity at all in 3d Coat. Note that, this is the only app that pressure levels do not work with this tablet.
