  1. Does 3dcoat support vrml, 3dm with vertex color embedded? Vrml is standard colored printing format. The colors can be embedded. 3dm is new format for colored printing which is used also by win 10 3dbuilder. Probably will be supported by mspaint3d. I tried importing vrml and 3dcoat just crashed.
  2. For those interested. Installed 3D-Coat on a new i7 Surface Book from Microsoft....the one with GPU and 16GB of RAM. One of my artists sculpted a head to 3.7 million triangles, painted it in 3DC, and rendered the shadow maps at 4k in 2.5 hours. No lag throughout the process. Battery was at 100% when he started and he ran it down to 24% remaining, so we calculate that he would have gotten to about 3.25 hours of heavy use had he gone on. Definitely could use some touch controls to move and zoom the screen within 3D-Coat and a pen with two-buttons would be GREAT! We'll try things out with a 3D-Mouse this week, didn't have one in the office today.
  3. http://www.engadget.com/2014/09/09/microsoft-buying-mojang-minecraft/ Well, this is rather surprising: Microsoft is in talks to buy Minecraft's developer, Mojang, according to a few different sources. The Wall Street Journal says that the ever loose-lipped "person familiar with the matter" has noted the deal is valued at over $2 billion, while reps for both Redmond and the Swedish developer remain mum on the subject. We've reached out to Microsoft and, as expected, were told by a company spokesperson that the outfit doesn't comment on rumors or speculation, as well. If true, this doesn't come too far after outspoken Minecraft mastermind Markus "Notch" Persson recently changing his stance on the Facebook/Oculus VR purchase. Maybe he's come around to the idea of no-longer being one of the world's largest indie developers? Hopefully we'll know rather soon. Until then, you'll find us playing with Steve on Xbox One.
