  1. Ok so, simple stupid question. I am new to 3-D coat and i figured that i would try it out with the trial version to see if 3d-Coat was going to do what I needed it to do. I loaded in one of my good models that i made in blender to test out this software. After texturing the model and getting it to a state that i liked VERY much. This is what it looks like in 3d-coat with that middle piece has an opacity of about 10% to get the transparency. Then i go to export it and that is where the trouble sets in. When i go to export (To unity) for a test. I exported it for both blender and unity just to make sure that it was not one. This is the export screen I have. Then once i export and put everything into its respective place in unity I end up with this. AS you can clearly see, that center piece is not at all transparent. I am probably doing something wrong and would like someone to help me figure out what it is and why I overlooked or didn't do correctly. Just the quality from the view in 3-D coat and the result in Unity look completely different.
  2. Sorry for the long title guys. So, I'm really new to 3D Coat and 3D painting in general. I really like what I've done so far, but I'd like to know if its possible there are any settings for smart materials that turn off the huge shadows generated by ambient occlusion on the texture? Basically I did a quick test paint of this gun I'm making for Fallout 4, but I'd like to get rid of the huge dark areas on the texture since the game uses PBR textures and I'm not skilled enough to paint textures completely from scratch, which is why I use smart materials. Here's a picture of the gun's texture.
  3. Heeeeyyy So I just got retopo, and I know this is probably a really nooby mistake so that's why this is in the new user section. I got 3d coat for the auto retopologizing tool, but when I go to import a mesh for AUTOPO, none of my exported models come up, even though they are either .obj, .dae, and .fbx Help is appreciated.
  4. Hey I'm new to 3D coat and i'm looking for critiques to help me improve I sculpted these three models from character model sheets found on the net to help improve my abilities. the robot spy was referenced from miycko@yahoo.com The two anime models are refferenced from Charochai.com
  5. Greetings everyone! I've been active on this forum since I learned about 3D Coat and have learned tons from various sources, mostly being the kind folks here. Since then, I've also created a few free tutorials and tried to answer many questions for new users. One of the things I ran into both from my own perspective and from some users here is that organized and inexpensive training is very welcome. Therefore, I just published an Introduction to 3D Coat on Udemy.com or https://www.udemy.com/introduction-to-3d-coat. I know there is lots of free training out there, and I'm very appreciative of that. Yet, I feel that an organized flow of instruction really helps me learn better. This course contains 22 lectures and approximately 4 hours of instruction. As a bonus, you'll receive custom themes created by me for use in 3D Coat. What are the requirements? Just an internet connection. No materials or software are required, but following along with at least a trial version of 3D Coat will help. What am I going to get from this course? 22 lectures and 4 hours of content! By the end of this course, you will have learned the user interface, understand 3D Coat's terminology, including what voxels are, and be able to move between the major functions of the program. What is the target audience? This course is intended for new to advanced users wishing to get familiar with 3D Coat for the first time. Normally, this course will go for the already low price of $29, but I'm giving away coupons for the first 6 people who want to purchase the course. Use coupon code U3D001, or simply click this link for a coupon worth 15% off until midnight 1 November 2013! That's just 3 days away. Be sure to visit UDEMY.COM or https://www.udemy.com/introduction-to-3d-coat and take a look!
  6. Man, I love this video! It somehow really captures the essence of how awesome 3D-Coat is! Just plain fun to model stuff without worrying about technical details too much...but the results still look great! And I like the music too...anybody know who wrote it?
  7. Hello, all, I am new here to 3d coat.Like your discussions and posts a lot.And hope to post my own works here too. Cindy.
  8. Hello. I just experimented creating a new shader for 3DC, which is easy enough, but the only settings I seem to get are: Ambient Color Diffuse Color Roughness Opacity However, most of the shaders appear to also have a specularity level and even an icon that looks like the shader. I'm trying to make a black rubber, but as I can't control the spec and roughness seems a rather obscure setting by itself, I'm not sure how to do this. Advice?
