  1. Hi, just noticed a bit strange behaviour of 3dconnexion in 3DC - space mouse reacts different in normal view and ortho. In ortho it behaves as I've set it, in normal/perspective view it works very rapidly, way too fast. I know there was some changes for 3dconnexion, but is it a normal behaviour, or maybe some workaround/fix for this issue?

    Spaceship Scene Development

Hello, I am working on a prop for an animation its a cartoony spaceship. The working process should be intuitive and artistic, so its a perfect job for 3D Coat. The astronaut already exists in Maya. Rendering will be done with Vray. I would like to start this thread to show my development, as to ask some questions coming up. Also artistic comments are welcome. Hope you enjoy Martin

Here's a starship model I created. The base mesh was created in Groboto3D. Additional parts I modeled in Wings3D and Hexagon. All the pieces were assembled using Hexagon3D. I tried using 3DCoat and later Silo3D. But I find Hexagon3D is so much more precise for assembling parts on a model due to the fact I can manual enter in the x,y, z positions and rotation with numerical values via the keyboard. I think the same thing can be done in Silo3D. I initially created this model a couple of years ago. But the base mesh close to 800,000 polys. I tried to retopo but gave up (too much work and not a very frustrating experience). I then tried decimating the model in 3DC's sculpt room. But it messed up the topology and the edge flow. So I then brought into Hexagon and manually reduced the polygons. For me, it seemed to work better and was so much more faster then retoping... It's now about 360,000 polys. I now need to uv map and texture.
  4. Is there actually a concept of local space in 3D Coat? When I import an FBX from Blender, seems like all local space information is lost, as I can't really use the Symmetry's local space options.
  5. Every time i import an .obj to 3DC in any way! Import > .obj or File > New > Vocel Sculpting/Surface Sculpting The .obj appears off center and it really bothers me! I tried a lot before coming here, but i cant quite get it to work.
  6. Hai, Just wanted to point out that there is a rather interesting project on Kickstarter right now. For any of you using the SpaceNavigator and want a little bit more comfort. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1441494659/the-space-dock I'm not affiliated with them or anything, just a backer. But they definitely need some help on reaching the funding goal, so if any of you is interested check it out
