Why is the knife tool cutting all the way through my geometry no matter what?

So plain and simple question, why is my knife tool in the Retopo Room cutting all the way through the mesh/geoemtry no matter what angle I'm doing the cut at despite me not using it's Maya esque "multi cut" functionality? Where if you click draw some rough lines on the outside of a mesh and press enter, it'll cut a segment all the way through the mesh as is intended with something like that. In this case however I'm simply clicking from vertex to vertex in order to draw edges/faces where I desire. Only to find out that this whole time that I've been doing retopo, it's cutting all the way through my mesh and messing up my geo in totally different areas of the mesh :/ This is extremely frustrating to find out after a few hours of working on retopo as I now have to go in and find the areas that got messed up bc of this and fix those places. Can someone tell me if this is fully intended or if there's something I'm doing wrong in terms of my usage of the knife tool here?? From videos I've seen it seems like the clicking from vertex to vertex functionality should not be doing this and shouldn't cut through the mesh in general. So I'm super confused as to why this is happening. If anyone can answer this for me I'd really appreciate it.- 3 replies

Hi!! I'm a new user and I need some help with 3D coat. When I want to switch over to photoshop, the logo for 3D coat shows up on the texture and I don't know how to fix it. Also, through 'Edit' the 'Edit All Layers in Ext. Editor' is grayed out. Is this an easy fix? I already reset everything and I reinstall as well, and this issue is still ongoing.

Autotopo not working on my mesh!

so I got my mesh together when I attempt autotopo I get either no polygons or 3dcoat crashes. (instant meshes isn't nearly as good but it works) When I try autotopo on another mesh something simpler it works fine, not sure what I am doing wrong? -
HELP!! After baking my retopo to my sculpt, my mesh appears BROKEN

So, I made a auto retopo using zRemesher and imported the retopo into the sculpt room along with my sculpt. I turned on auto snapping and relaxed the retopo mesh. Finally, I baked in the retopo using "Bake Into Scene (microvertex)", but the result afterwards looks extremely deformed, broken, and has holes in the mesh. I feel like I've tried everything to fix this. I even adjusted the scan depth plenty of times to see whether this would solve the issue, but it did not.- 3 replies

I am new to 3D coat, downloaded it today and I have my model imported from blender and it has the UV map imported but none of the paint brush tools work so I cant texture paint :( I appreciate the help thank you

Hello there! I was going to put a .jpg as a background for one of my projects and when I go to select an image it's blacked out and won't let me select anything. I put it in a separate folder than the one I had for assets and had the same issue, restarted my machine, and restarted the program too. Do I have to put it in a specific folder or something? I'm also on a Mac and Don't know if that has something to do with it. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Is there someone who can help explain why when I try to paint on meshes with textures from my photogrammetry program; p.e. a mesh with a tiff texture; I get unpredictable results. Sometimes the texture loads on import, sometimes not. Sometimes the colors are negative. I guess I need to import in the paint room; then I can't sculpt anymore. I don't understand why I can't sculpt when I paint and viceversa. Sometimes I push some buttons and I end up getting a textured model with a skin thickness and I can paint and sculpt. But I cannot repeat what I have done; it's like a sheep-path that I can't remember. Please explain? You see I got some results yesterday, but I don't know how.
