  1. Hi there amigo's, I am having an issue with my reflections not showing up when I am previewing smart materials, and even when I paint an object. I am getting the lighting info, but not the reflections. Please see the image attached. Any ideas? Is this a reinstall situation? Thanks again.
  2. Всем привет. Сильно напряг вопрос переноса модели с текстурами в движок Unity. Использую официальный конвертер-ассет 3DCoat to Unity с ассет стора. Есть модель в коате ( первый скрин), ножки стула - почти чистый хром, светлый (2й скрин). Сохраняю в папку Assets проекта Unity. В итоге все металлы стали очень темный - почти черные. Отражения (блики) есть, но при этом все темное. Чистый диффуз цвета предает правильно. Так что подозреваю что проблема в карте default MGO. Когда экспортировал то же через пресет Marmoset Viewer 2, и потом залил это в мармосет - то там отображалось более менее нормально ( Metallness задал металы,Gloss - задал отражения).Сильно расстраивает что через официальный експортер не удалось правильно передать текстуры ( так как просто экспортами все выходило также плохо - темные металлы). Может кто знает как решить эту проблему? Файл приложен.
  3. Hi folks, this is my first post as i am new to 3DCoat. I am some old guy, software developer, game enthusiast. I try to make some models for Unity3D, bought 3DCoat and now i am stuck. Modelling works, Retopo is going to work. I really miss some good reference for 3DCoat, hints are welcome. My actual problem: when applying PBR material to an object, it seems to look all right in the preview, but when on the model, it has very low details and looks blurry. I found no hint to this behaviour, so does anyone have a hint where to look? I try to attach a picture of the issue. What have i done? Create a voxel sphere, switch to paint room, apply PBR in an extra layer.
  4. Hey folks, I am making some brushes for 3D Coat using a layered Tiff, Is it possible to affect Metalness? I can get my brush to show up colour, depth, gloss, alpha etc??? I've tried adding additional alpha channels but no joy, It'd be awesome if you could add in metalness, Cheers for any help Greg

  7. I am fairly new to using both 3DC and Modo and frankly I am lost. I have textured my item in 3DCoat and no matter what I do, various methods of exporting, etc I still keep getting a model that looks like this now in Modo when trying to render it out. I am not sure if this is a Modo problem or an exporting in 3DC problem but it has taken up two days of work trying to figure out and I am going crazy... If anyone has some insight on this workflow and where I am going wrong I would appreciate the help more than you can imagine!Thanks for looking.

При експорте материала из коата в макс/вирей материал становится совсем не таким, каким он был в 3д коате, как я понял - это из-за того что вирей не поддерживает PBR, но ведь как-то наверняка можно в вирее использовать текстуры и материалы коата... Подскажите как сделать так чтоб в вирее материалы отображались верно и как вообще рендерить модели и материалы с коата, не на коате... например как их рендерить на вирее, или может вообще воспользоваться возможностями рендера на движке вроде анреал енджина?
  11. Hello guys I have a problem with the reflections of the PBR shaders. When I paint with very reflective material directly on to the high res model in the sculpt room (just for test) there is no problem, everything looks smooth. But when I bake the normal map and apply the material on to the baked low poly mesh the reflections get distorted, attached are previews of the problem. P.S I disabled the normal map and everything looks smooth on the low poly mesh, but there are no problems with the normal map, no errors. I also tried inverting the green channel, but there was no improvement. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you! Zhivko
  12. Hi there. Would be great to have a way (unless I'm missing something) to make layers inside Smart Material Editor only with selected channels. The same way that we can paint with brushes selecting (or not) Color, Depth or Gloss we should be able to do the same way under the Editor. I know we can simply set Gloss, Metalness and Depth to 0%, but what about color? It seems that every layer is linked to a color channel. And of course, blend modes to increase the creation options.
  13. Hi there I imported a 3DSMax obj format mesh already unwrapped into 3D Coat for Painting. When I create a smart material and see the result in the "Smart Material Preview" window, the details of a noise depth (TextureScale 1% to get a thin result) for example look really nice. But when I paint, I always en up with a pixelated and far less defined result as you can see in the screenshot below : As I work on a 2048 texture map in 3DCoat I should end up with thin enough details ? If someone know a way to fix this issue, it would be great. I have to finish this text for a potential job asap and I'm a bit stuck because of that
  14. Hi All I've been using 3D Coat for a while now, and have to start by saying how much I love it. I'm a long time user of Blender and Cycles, but I didn't have experience of any other applications until I tried 3D Coat. The usability and almost constant improvements and additions of new features is extremely impressive. I now do all my sculpting and painting in 3D Coat because it is just so easy and intuitive compared to Blender.... Now for my actual question. Admittedly, it's as much a Blender question as it is a 3D Coat question, but I'm hoping I am not the only one using Blender for rendering creations exported from 3D Coat. I am using Blender and Cycles for rendering, and I am using the SimplePBR node which I found because other people on these 3D Coat forums have mentioned it. No-one, however, seems to have given an example of how to correctly set it up. SimplePBR has the following inputs: Albedo Specular Colour; Fresnel IOR; Roughness; Metalness; and Normal As far as I can tell, no export workflow in 3D Coat supports generating all these maps as part of the same export. Is that correct? This is what is confusing me. Can anyone give me a description of how you typically hook this up? (if you use it). What maps do you export from 3D Coat? Alternatively, is there a better alternative to SimplePBR?   16. What is the best way to export and set up "Smart Materials" texture to Maya with no PBR support? For example I have a metal object and want to get as close as I can to the beautiful PBR smartmaterials results that I see in 3D-coat. If someone could write a quick tutorial on this that would be awesome! For now I'm just going to have to experiment a lot in Maya to try and get same results. This is for production so it I don't have much time to experiment. Thanks! Daniel

  19. Greetings, I am really liking the PBR tools and have created a nice texture set. I am confused about how PBR is suppose to work outside the program. An asset I have created (for fallout 4), looks super nice with PBR shaders and all that fun stuff but when I export the textures, they are standard diffuse types and look ok (nothing like in 3D Coat).   20. I was just watching a few PBR tutorials and I'm finding myself, as ever, out of the picture... In the first few minutes of the tuts, I come up against words that mean nothing to me. So as ever I appreciate everyone's patients as I leave the real world and try to comprehend the world of CGI. I have so many questions I don't know where to start... Is creating a new smart material the (simplest) way of getting an image file( ie: jpeg,png etc) onto a model? What is the meaning of ambient occlusion and what is it used for? What is the meaning of curvature map and what is that used for? I'll leave it at that for now! Please remember I have not used a 3d modeling software before I am a newbie newbie, but enthusiastic to learn. Thanks!

  23. This is the first object I've finished in 3D-Coat - it's a wooden carved ornamental onlay with worn gold leaf. I did this project to learn the 3D-Coat to Modo workflow. I used 3D-Coat for the sculpting, autopo, UV, and painting, and exported to Modo 902 for rendering. I've also included a render from 3D-Coat for comparison (the second image). Big thanks to Javis Jones for his PBR shading rig for Modo.
