  1. I have recently bought 3D coat but when I can't find the Import feature anywhere, and whenever I look online or on YouTube, the import feature is in File for everybody but me. I attached a screenshot all the File settings I have.
  2. I`m new to 3D coat. Early on I find many inconsistencies between tutorials (specifically shortcuts) and my own version of 3Dcoat. Problem 1: Using numpad keys to switch view (top, bottom, right, left, front, back) does not work. However, when clicking "camera" and selecting one of them, they DO work. Even more confusing, not only do they work there, but they indicate that the Numpad numbers are indeed the correct shortcuts. They just don`t work. Instead, they`ll gradually pan my viewport (8 = pan up, 2= pan down, etc., like arrow keys) Problem 2: my wacom pen has a button assigned as "MMB", but it doesn`t pan at all, even holding down ALT, in the 3Dcoat viewport. The pen works well in other programs, but it feels like 3Dcoat is overriding the tablet settings somehow...
  3. Hi all.. mediocre texturerer here so somewhat on the amateur side.. As you can see the attached image is a part to a model I've downloaded. Its triangulated to which I've unwrapped it myself in 3ds Max, though when imported into 3D Coat & apply a preset texture, the curvature map, calculates every triangulated edge & not just the physical corner edges. I have considered retopology but then I'd have to re-unwrap again which is more time consuming.. Is retopology the only solution around this?.. Thanks in advance...
  4. It used to work fine in .49, but after updating to .53, it do esn't work anymore video0.mov
  5. I've been practicing making "skins" for a video game I play just for the sake of learning. I could make a few but then I ran into an issue with the program. Whenever I go to edit projections in my ext. editor (Photoshop) it messes up the lighting completely and ruins the picture I add. (For example the one I've attached to this message.) I didn't have this problem yesterday, it occurred today, just a few hours before. I reset all my settings back to default, yet it still didn't help in any way. I apologize if this was the wrong place to message for help about this, didn't find a place in your forums for that. The categories were irrelevant, and then there was one for "SOS only urgent matters", an since this isn't SOS urgent, I can't post there. If there's a solution to this problem, I would be really thankful. Have a nice week! Santeri K
  6. I made the model and the normal map in Blender and am now importing those in 3D Coat (as .obj), but after I apply a smart material on the object there are some weird stretches happening as you can see in the following picture. The normal map I am importing + UV Map + Mesh looks as follows: I Does anybody know if there is some way to fix this problem directly in 3D Coat or if I have to change the mesh or the normal map in blender? Thanks in advance for the help.
  7. I recently can across a issue where I heavy need to import a obj file with textures already applied. For context I have a model that had multiple texture sheets and UV'd pieces that have existing textures I need to edit. Problem is that when importing any type of geometry file the program does not apply textures automatically. Ordinarily this wouldn't be a issue as having only one or two texture sheets wouldn't take much time to import the textures manually. Thing is that this project has upwards of 12 separate UV'd pieces, each with around 4 textures. Meaning that I would need to manually apply 48 textures for this one model. If there are any tricks or ways around this problem please reply back, as I will even try external plugins a try for fixing this issue. This is urgent as the window on this project is closing quickly. Thank you for reading and hope to hear back soon.
  8. Hi! I have a problem with my model from 3ds Max. When I imported it, a face of the mesh in 3D Coat not match with the UV that I created in 3ds Max. Why!??.Exist any way to marge the face with the green island?. Thanks!
  9. I recently bought 3D Coat and I've been having fun with it. The fun lasted until I exported the textures to Blender. The results I'm getting in 3D Coat are not the same I'm getting in Blender. The textures look stretched and the details are not there in Blender. I tried using Eevee, unwrapping in different ways and tried different export setups. Soo this is how it look on 3Coat and this is on Blender UVs and nodes and here is the export setup I hope is something I'm doing wrong and someone can help me out because its been frustrating
  10. Hello ! I have this problem at importing a mesh. In rhino is ok shaped and I export it as obj or stl. This is the model in rhino. This happens when I import is as OBJ... mesh is changed... new polygons appears but the details are kept like the initial model. Only mesh is in addition. Why ? AND this is when I import as STL... NO addition but the details are hardly affected and the mesh looks awful.. After the RES+ for STL imported it looks like this... What can I do ? I want to import a clean model for surface detail modelling ? Can anyone help me ? Thank you !
  11. Hey guys, so I'm still new to 3D coat, and I must have pushed something, since the transform tool, the large outer ring of the gizmo is gone as well as the middle scaling option, and I can't seem to figure out how to bring it back. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks
  13. Hey guys, It's my first time on 3D Coat, and i have a problem when i want to import my mesh in 3d coat, there is dark areas on the mesh: And when i import my normal map on the mesh, there is some weird shapes on this areas: So if you have any idea if the problem come from my mesh or my importation in 3d Coat, let me know. Btw, here is what my mesh look like: For information, i did the retopology on Topogun, not 3D Coat. Thanks.
  14. hello, I'm using 3d coat nearly year and now i got some problem: I cant draw with norlmals in paint room, but only when I'm using texture. Only one day before it worked and now I cant. 3d coat version 4.8.10. On screenshot 1 I'm drawing with just brush and no texture and it works well. But on screenshot 2 I draw with texture and it doesnt work properly. On 3rd screen normals and they are plain. it should be as on 4 screenshot. Thanks for any help.
  15. To bake parts of my retopo separately, I need to select them and bake while the option "bake selected only" is checked. Naturally I select a rectangular lasso for this. Then I start baking. That`s when 3D Coat awkwardly insists on keeping the rectangular select tool instead of letting me use my cursor to adjust scan depth. If I could only use the a regular stroke mode, I could paint as usual. So basically, you need to abort the whole baking process, switch stroke mode, then re-enter.
  16. In the paint room, I have a particular layer with an old retopo-bake that need`s deleting. The delete button does delete other layers, but not this particular layer. (There are newer, baked layers in the list, so deleting this particular layer would not leave the room empty of content or other layers) Deleting "Layer 0" is seems impossible.
  17. Im sculpting in 3Dcoat, but my texturing needs to be done in Substance Painter. Heres a retopo of my fish. The gills are the main problem. The gills are three separate pieces of topology, that cause all sorts of trouble when baking When baking, Im left with this mess in the paint room. How Do I solve this? Is it perhaps possible to bake the fish, gills excluded? Then maybe bake the gills by themselves, then combine this UV-maps? Or any workflow tip to stop the holes? The gills themselves are not larger than the body, so I thought they wouldnt cut through and cause any issues
  18. Hey guys, I've been using 3D Coat for a little while now but I am tearing my hair out with this problem. I import baked normal, albedo, roughness and metallic maps then overpaint them. However, when I try to overpaint the normals, the imported normal map always seems to blend through. How can I prevent this? I am trying to paint a smart material over the top to give some variation to the brick pattern, so I am using the same material but scaled up. So how can I paint this smart material on to the model without the imported normal blending through the painted area? Many thanks, Matt (See in the image below, The smart material preview shows how the larger bricks normal map blends into the smaller bricks normal map)
  19. I accidentally drew on my reference image, and now I can`t erase those strokes, destroying my reference image. Is it not possible to reset it? I can`t reload in the image either, the lines er stuck. I`m also having trouble finding my way in the documentation, to where ever it explains the extremely unintuitive reference image stuff..
  20. Hey guys! So I just picked up the trial for 3Dcoat today after watching most of the videos, and I imported a model I have from zbrush (that is a little bit off of 0,0,0 but I figured no biggie cause local symmetry) but when that is enabled in the symmetry window in the retopo room, nothing seems to happen at all?? I've read through this post on the issue and there doesn't seem to be much of a fix? Also how does the bounding box selection for symmetry work exactly? Couldn't find any explanations on that but it sounds like it would be helpful

  22. Hello everyone! It's me... again. Honestly, sorry for that. This time, I'm experiencing a huge problem with the high to low bake. I've made several, several experiments to solve it, I've improved it, I've learned a lot of things about exporting options, optimal decimations and settings on Substance (I love to integrate these two softwares together SO much)... but I couldn't solve it. At first I thought it was all about bad UVs (and my UVs are bad, believe me), but I tried to do some experiments and I've seen it doesn't seem to be UVs' fault! I've came to the conclusion that it must be the bad geometry of the lowpoly model... I think. But before retopologizing all the model from scratch (I'm gonna try 3DCoat retopo tools, played a little with 'em and liking 'em!), I'd really, really love to ask the advice of more experienced, professional people. I'm not sure if this can be helpful, but there's my workflow: lowpoly in Blender, import in 3DCoat, voxelization/sculpt/etc in 3DCoat, export high from 3DCoat, UV map the lowpoly and exporting it from 3DCoat, importing lowpoly UV mapped in Substance Painter, baking the textures (only the normal, actually) with highpoly and optimal settings also in Substance Painter. The point is: is it effectively a bad lowpoly/retopo mesh problem, or I'm missing something important? Hope you can help! Sorry again for all these questions, and thank you in advance for helping me out! Here the screens to show the exact problem (here you can see the bake result in Painter, the highpoly in 3DCoat, the export settings in 3DCoat, the lowpoly also in 3DCoat).
  23. Hey! I cant get the pen pressure working at all on my Windows 10 Desktop Pc. I got the trial Version and really would love to try 3dcoat. But unfortunatley i cant get my Wacom Cintiq 22HD to work proper. I already installed the newest driver and also tried an older one from last yeat. Both didnt solve the problem. I also tried the Penpressure tester. I doesnt show me any pen pressure stats. Please can somebody help me? thanks a lot already!
  24. When i use the option to "import image as mesh" in the 3d coat and enter my picture there, and click enter.. The picture i choosed to transform into mesh, is in there, but there is a white backround i can't get rid of. I've have tried using a trasparent picture, but the white backround is still there. I've also have tried the "cut off tool" But it's hard to cut off the white backround off from the picture with it. Please help, thank you.
  25. So using a 3D Connexion Spacemouse, something very very strange happens. The camera revolves around some mysterious point in space far ahead of me, rather than my actual position as its kind of meant to. I've gone through the settings of both it and 3DCoat but I have no idea how to fix this. I've included a video of expected behavior vs 3DCoat's behavior as an example. Please help. I'm starting out with your software, but this quite literally makes sculpting close to impossible.
