  1. To bake parts of my retopo separately, I need to select them and bake while the option "bake selected only" is checked. Naturally I select a rectangular lasso for this. Then I start baking. That`s when 3D Coat awkwardly insists on keeping the rectangular select tool instead of letting me use my cursor to adjust scan depth. If I could only use the a regular stroke mode, I could paint as usual. So basically, you need to abort the whole baking process, switch stroke mode, then re-enter.
  2. Hey guys, I'm super frustrated. I have an .obj with UVs from a 3D scanner I want to clean up and I have taken SO MANY tutorials and every time I think I have found a solution it turns out it can't work in the new 4.5 version as the UI has changed. I did all I can to be a self learner but I'm stuck. Here's my questions... 1. I want to import it into the Voxel room and clean it up with the color already baked in. If I need to carve out an ear... I need to see the UV to know where to cut. What is my order of operations? 2. I've unwrapped the UV in Capturing Reality and it's messy. If I am painting directly on the model does it even matter? And it seems to be importing has voxel model and surface model directly on top of each other and as two parents in the Paint Room. Why is this? 3. When I go to export the final mesh for 3D printing IN SANDSTONE, is it better to export for print or just export the new .obj with baked color? Thanks so much! Bethany

    Skecher Scan

From the album: Phil Nolan's work

This is an old sneaker I scanned using my camera and some FOSS software called Visual SFM plus Meshlab. The scan came out a little lump so it was cleaned up and some details added in 3DC. Here is a turntable. http://bit.ly/1tieyvT

  4. Hello, last week I installed 3D-Coat. There are three things I hope 3D-Coat can do for me. 1) Freehand sculpting. Found it, it is fun to use. 2) Merging scanned files (.stl, .obj, .ply) to one object (recreating the original object from scanned faces of the object) 3) And last obvious if previous is possible; Edditing large .stl files as mesh. But also rescaling the mesh Probably it is simpel, but since I have looked into many other 3D software for other reasons I'm overwhelmed by keywords. Is there an introduction tutorial for point 2 and 3 ? Keywords which I should look up in in the manual? Thanks
  5. Can someone tell me if all meshes imported into 3dcoat from scanning are always converted to voxels even if you only want to use the Live clay function? I was worried about detail loss if converted to voxels for sculpting.
