  1. hello everyone, 4 months ago, i was asking you about more smart material for 3d coat for my Sci-fi exam in video and today i can show you my final work. All the texture has been made with the smart material in this topic (and the basic smart material of cours). This screenshot come for unreal egine 4.9. I should like to have your opinion on it (positif or negatif about texturing, props, lighthing, etc) English is not my mother tongue so, sorry for the mistakes And this is a like for my SF character https://skfb.ly/OHZO
  2. This is my interpretation of a typical American hot rod. Hot rods originated in southern California when returning WWII soldiers wanted to create an American equivalent of the light and nimble sports cars of Europe (MGs, Alfa Romeos, etc). Suped up engines mostly V8s were swapped in place of the original motors. To help improve performance body parts were often removed. Fenders, bumpers, hoods, running boards were often shed to increase the horsepower to weight ratio of the vehicle. In this image I used a late 1920s, early 1930s sedan body as the basis for the car. Powered by a early model Ford flathead V8 which is supercharged with three carburetors. The roof of the sedan has been chopped to reduce it's height. I created the car from scratch using 3D modeling apps. The bulk of the modeling was done in Hexagon 3D and Silo 3D. For UV mapping I used 3DCoat. Textures were created in Photoshop and applied in Vue Complete 2015, where the scene was rendered. And a NPR render I masked out the background from the render and substituted a paper texture in Photoshop... Loving 3DCoat for UV mapping and texturing, although for this model I did not use 3DC for texturing. Only UVing... Hoping I posted this to the proper section here....

  7. Hello everyone, I'm new to 3d Coat edu, I place my tutorial explaining how to paint a model created with Lightwave and textured in 3d coat and rendered in Lightwave. I hope you can be useful
  8. I need a fast way to texture 2D sprites for AGS walk cycles. Does 3DCoat do texturing fast? Complete Newbie!
  10. Hi all, people! I have been texturing models in a 3D Coat many times and i found one big trouble for me: there is no way to set a scale factor for each created meterial to keep it always same! Usually its not a big deal but sometimes i really need to reproduce the same scale for another materials... i cant remember what was it last time example img below Is there any way to fix the scale factor that i have not found yet? Thanks!
  11. https://vimeo.com/136133189 Hello Everyone! I just wanted to share this video of iRay integration within Substance Designer (5.3). If you're familiar with gpu ray tracers, you know they bring a lot to the table and they're fantastic for people who work on film, commercials, arch viz etc. I tend to use a lot of texturing packages, but there is still a huge difference between a marmoset toolbag type preview and a path tracer viewport. So for those people who are into renderers like Octane, this seems to be the first step in that direction. What are the advantages of a path tracer? If you've worked with various renderers vs game engines, you already know the major differences. It's mostly about realistic reflections, shadows, and bounced light. The better the preview, the more time it saves you later on. Also great for stills
  12. Hi just a quick question. Can 3D coat be used for "Old Gen" (diffuse, spec, normal) texturing as i still have some use for the old work flow in certain programs i use. If so would i use blinn- phong which my older application uses or the compatibility shader? Thanks, IO
  14. Hey guys. If you were to create a fluffy carpet (https://encrypted.google.com/search?tbm=isch&q=fluffy%20carpet&tbs=imgo:1), or other similar fabric that is made out of fibres that stick out from the main surface, then how would you approach it if it was intended for a: 1) short; 2) real-time engine; Let's say you're starting from scratch and you have 3D-Coat and some traditional modelling software at your disposal.
  15. Hey guys, Thought I would take this question to the community since I have been battling with it for years now. I jump back and forth while texturing between Photoshop and 3dcoat and eventually I'll start to get warping textures that only show up when im in the external editor(Photoshop CS6). Once saved and sent back to 3d coat the warping is completely gone.I still have no idea what this is or why it is. I'm currently using the 3d Coat 4.5 BETA but I've experienced this issue in every version of the program. It is not exclusive to the beta. I left an image to further articulate what I mean. Any help would be great.

  18. Hello. I discovered 3d-Coat 16 days ago. I tried several software when doing retopology character. But when I started to do retopology in 3d-Coat I thought that this is where the developers really been working hard. Retopologiyu in 3d-Coat is a true delight. Now I am studying other features of 3d-Coat. I must say that the learning process is incredibly easy. This is my character for which I did retopology in 3d-Coat. I want to make my mesh as accurately as possible describes the shape of the body, with a minimum number of polygons. 10014 points of base mesh. WIP
  19. This is a character i started a long time ago and never finished off. I am using 3dc to paint diffuse and probably specular but we will see how that goes later. Everything is being painted by hand. He is using 8 x 4k texture maps. I bought the upgrade to do this in linux but performance doesn't match windows unfortunately Right now i am just blocking out. Here are a render from Houdini and a screenshot from 3DC.
  20. I found this pretty neat website on siggraph project documents about different methods of capturing normals, albedos, speculars, and other stuff, from surfaces. So... i was thinking... is it possible to actually get real-world readings with just a camera, a linear polarized filter, a black box, sequential hemispherical lighting on all 360 degree? What i mean is, taking a picture from a polarized camera thats 90 degrees aiming down to the surface, and each picture will have a different lighting value. Then with some editing, recreate all the maps? Or is it more complicated than this? http://www.pauldebevec.com/index.html
  21. I made a high-poly mesh, having vertex color data (I painted it in Paint Room, while in surface mode). How can I create a texture map (without a retopologization and an additional rework) and transfer vertex color to it? (Then save it) Also, can I export the mesh to some file format, not losing the vertex color data?
  22. Hello! I have a question about texturing in this program. I'm a 3D artist and I picked up 3D Coat because I really hate dealing with UVs and UV texturing. It's nice UV coat generates a UV map for painting, but I have a question about what I could do with this. Is it possible to really paint on textures and such? Say I was making an old pick up truck. Could I paint that over with somthing that looks like paint and then add in things like scratches, rust, dirt, etc and have it look good? Really the question is texture painting vs UV texturing.
спасибо зарание _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ PS: those people who (inappropriately) commented (completely incomprehensible reasons and delete) my old post about 3d Coat LOGO. comments from them do not accept! to me they are not interesting.!!! so please do not comment here. Thanks.
  24. Are masks supposed to work with depth painting in the paint room? Mask images work just fine with specularity and color channels, but not depth. Is this a feature that hasn't been implemented yet, or is this a bug in the new releases? I'm using the V4 experimental version 4.0.15, Windows x64.
  25. Hi at all. I am searching for some good hard surface texturing tutorials for 3d coat, but it seems i cant find some. All that i find are for Photoshop or other apps. I watched it, but i cant reproduce the learned in 3d coat. Sometimes it is a to big difference. Did anybody know some one? Regards Malo
