    Blob tool thickness_

    I want to have the blob tool have more thickness when conn/done. I can not find where this is done ? I think up in header the On_Plane box and then the Plane OPT. which I can not find info on this section. sculpt room using voxel .4.5.03
  2. Hello, I am sculpting in the voxel room and am having strange issues with my brushes. No matter what size I set them to, the actual size is like 4 times larger than the yellow circle. If I go to the paint room the sizes are right. I can make the brushes extremely small and they will sort of work, but it is extremely laggy for some reason. I have uninstalled, and performed a clean install with no luck. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!
  3. Hi I am currently playing around with the trial, but i really like the software so I will but once the trial period is over. A few days ago I saved the model I was working on, when I loaded the project today I found to my big surprise that the menu with the sphere tool, 2D paint and airbrush (the voxel tools) located on the left part of the screen, is gone!? I have read the manual and tried to reset the windows from the preferences window. Nothings works. The only way to get it back is to start a new project, but if I import my model the voxel menu disappears. Is this a bug? I attach an image of my menu, missing the voxel tool.

  5. Hi, I wanna try 3D Coat, because my friend tell me its really great! So I install trial and seems cool, but I have one big problem: I put a predefined medium sphere to the viewport, made it 4 times higher res and try to sculpt in voxel mode. It was sooo slooow, I think like 1 frame per sec. Its really terrible. Even when go to a higher level, it stop for like 5 seconds. I dont know why, I have pretty decent computer (i7 2600K at 4,4GHz, 32GB RAM 2133MHz, GeForce GTX 780 3GB, win 7 x64). ZBrush is super fast, but I hate it :-) and wanna try 3D Coat. But I dont know why, its really slow. My friend tell me he can do that without any problem. Sphere with 4 times higher resolution, its still not so detailed and 3d coat told me use only 1.26GB RAM, so its simple I think. Any other software works fine, so I dont know what to do. Can anyone help me please... Thanks a lot for any tips. Tim
  6. Hallo miteinander Mein Problem ist folgendes: Ich weiß nicht, wie ich am elegantesten Geometrie innerhalb eines Objektes lösche( siehe Bild). In diesem Fall beispielsweise, hatte ich die Mund- und Augenhöhlen schon im Basemesh in Blender gemacht, aber beim sculpten nicht angemessen berücksichtigt, und nun stehe ich eben vor dem genannten allgemeinen Problem.     I really wish that you could create Voxel layers like you do paint layers. I know that Mudbox and Modo do something similar, but since the sculpting is entirely different in those programs I was wondering if the same thing were possible in a 3d Coat

  12. I am using the beta 4 version and the manual only refers to 'The Sculpt Room' whereas in actual fact I have a 'Voxels room'. In this room I can choose surface or voxel representation and although the hint says that surface mode is faster and voxel mode has more tools, my question is; What is the actual purpose of each representation and why should I use one over the other? Thanks!
  13. I manually smoothed this model with the smooth brush because the smooth all seems to leave some rippling for whatever reason. Anyway in the images you will see the the voxel model after the smooth brush, I then went into surface mode and didn't change ANYTHING but you can see that the model seems to have degraded? You can see the ripples in the surface mode that were not present in voxel mode? IF I was to then take the smooth brush and smooth them out there is no change or it just visually looks worse? Can someone explain this please.

    Voxel Tools not working?

    Hello, I have a frustrating issue with 3D Coat where the only voxel tools that behave as expected are Grow, Smooth and Clay, all the other voxel tools (carve, scrape, pinch, smudge, plane, 2d paint, sphere, airbrush, blob) draw a green marquee which origin starts from where I click with my brush and adds or removes rectangular shape of the marquee orientated towards the camera. I have looked at many written and video tutorials and these tools are not functioning as demonstrated (Attached is an image of the behavior). I will be very thankful if someone can help explain why this is happening? Note: I have re-installed 3D Coat and run the software in all DX and GL 32 & 64bit mode. 4.1.04A (CUDA)(GL64) Windows 7 Ultimate Intel Core i7 950 @ 3.07GHz 12 GB Ram NVIDIA GeForece GTX670 2Gb

    Sculpting brushes

    Does anyone know of a way to sculpt like this. As you can see they have some lovely hard edges and indents - in 3d coat i cant get this king of effect, if i were to sculpt a rock using build,scrape/pinch tools, the rock would end up smoother looking; without receses and crevices but only out going parts in the rock. Anyone know of tools/brush tequeniques to make rockes like this? (btw, they were made in zbrushy)
  18. I try to use some of the buttons on the left such as grow, it starts a selection box that I can drag to size and then release to Grow the object. Before, I could just hold grow and it would do its thing. Is there a setting that caused this?
  19. I went to "Merge subtree" that contains the instance object. Contrary to expectations, Instance object was deleted. Then I went to "Merge subtree" after "Un-instance". Then it is OK , Instance object wasn't deleted. I want to "Merge subtree" including instance, Un-instenace in advance automatically.
  20. To all 3DC'ers! I am new to 3DC and I have been trying to solve an issue with sculpting and texturing a model that I would like your help with. I have a .OBJ file of a sculpture that has been captured by a 3D Scanner and has a UV map/texture. The problem is that, the model has some defects, both texture and geometry that require correction. I have managed to correct the geometry defects and I have also managed to correct the textures and export the model out of 3DC. I can do these operations INDIVIDUALLY but I cannot seem to bake the new texture on the modified (Voxelised) geometry. Could you please help correct my noob mistake or if this is a known issue/limitation then please feel free to put my mind at ease. My workflow (based on tutorials and searching the forums): 1: File > Import > import for voxelising (select the .OBJ) 2: Make modifications to geometry using clay tools and live clay etc. 3: To the Retopo room 4: Retopo menu > import - select the same file as original import to get Retopo mesh - (no UV edits as the texture already has UV mapped textures) 5: Retopo Menu > Merge NM 6: To Paint Room 7: Import Texture > import normal map 8: Back to Retopo 9: Bake scan settings and Bake 10: Back to paint Room for export and the model shows the Voxel sculpted edits and the texture (albeit with wierd layers - most of the time the texture is a bronze colour!) Please help!!! Endless hours trying to solve this and I am stuck. I appreciate your comments and help, thanks in advance. Ash
  21. Hello, I have been having trouble with a certain aspect of the sculpting tools because I am used to drawing and being able to draw using many strokes ( to adjust my hand or whatever). In 3D sculpting it is even more important because sometimes you are trying to draw something that is not on a flat plane ( it wraps around something for example) and thus you have to change your camera angle to be able to see where you are drawing. To to this (as far as I know) you have to lift up your stroke, change the angle, and then continue the line with another stroke. The problem this creates for me is illustrated below. If you lift your pen or want to draw something that isn't one continuous line, when you replace your pen at the point where you left off, it will either create a bump (when adding) or a divot (when subtracting) at that point. I assume this is because the brush adds or subtracts a fixed amount of...material... based on the height of where you clicked and the depth you have the brush set at. My question is, how can I create a seamlessly flowing line without having to draw it in one continuous stroke? Thanks, ElSte17

    Hello there, my name is Nicolas Kirsch, i am working on mod project on the source engine as AI programmer and modeler, i am 34 year old, And i purchase for a pro licence of 3dcoat through Steam, I am now learn this base, and discover the app , and i must to say that i am very satisfied of 3dcoat, as game artist and developer, I used Lightwave for a long time now, but I am now using Maya 2014, that also satisfy me alot compared to what the lightwave modeler purpose this day, i haven't upgraded with the good deal that newtek had proposed this Christmas period, 3d coat offers me, what LW modeler and Zbrush combined shall brings in my workflow. My English is not perfect, i am french , and will do my best to be clear on board i will use this topic to post some stuff made with 3Dcoat, i suppose some concept and experimentation. i will starting right now and show you my first attempt with the Voxel and Render rooms. I only worked in Voxel ( excepted the horns), i will check out later what liveclay and surface specificities are exactly, there is no better method to apply than test out directly the tools and try to do something correct.     Character work using 3DC

    Hi all Just thought I'd post a link to some work I did with 3DC voxels on my website. This link shows the all the characters, these were colorised in Photoshop ( done before you could add colour to voxels ) http://www.draw-it.co.uk/?project=trench-project The thumbnails on show some very quick auto retopo work done on the sculpts to get the geometry into LW. I used the mesh to position proxy versions of the characters in a virtual studio. The attached is better view of one character.

  25. Greetings all, I've put together an extension for 3D Coat's Community of Voxel Sculptors to use in their projects as my way of giving back to such a wonderful and helpful group of people. I found myself constantly needing to export simple 3D Geometries so found it to be best to make a compiled list of many things I used regularly to carve in to a sculpt.
