  1. I haven't used 3D Coat in years. I'm coming back to it, but on version 2021, so I'm missing how to export a model with textures to FBX. I can see that I can export from the Paint Room and there is a Texture Baking Tool, but there appear to be multitudes of places to export various things in different rooms and I miss the old menu where you decide the resolution, file type, etc. Maybe I just need to take more time with it, but when I use the Texture Baking Tool and export, there are no files generated. I did see how this is supposed to be done in the manual (https://3dcoat.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=import_export:exporting_from_the_paint_workspace), but when I click Export Objects and Textures from the Paint Room simply has me choose a file type and name. There is no dialogue, as shown in the manual. Getting the textures exported is where I'm mainly stuck, but I can find nothing on how to export in version 2021.
  2. I just wanted to create a thread here dedicated to hard surface sculpting/modeling in 3D-Coat. Feel free to post any tips, tricks, tutorials, or whatever you know about it so as to help the community out. I'll start by adding a nice timelapse video I found on Youtube. I saw some useful techniques used here that I thought were worth sharing. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AVERcG9Qy8
  3. Hey guys, have you been messing around with the new PBR Smart Materials in version 4.5, but you don't feel like you really know what you are doing, or if you are doing it correctly? Well don't worry, because I found this really great tutorial about how to paint with the new PBR Smart Materials in 3D-Coat! It is made by an Italian guy who goes by the name of DoctorDanko on Youtube. His Italian accent is only mild, so his English is still very easy to understand. (Big thanks to DoctorDanko for making the video!) In the video you get a good explanation of what the new PBR Smart Materials do, how to paint with them, and also how to build your own. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hyz8OrzBtA
  4. Hi All, I'm trying to import some characters I already have that are pretty much done and want to touch them up - they already have textures and I just want to add a few details ....but I can't for the life of me figure out how to import these objects with their textures. ie - I use iclone - I want to import the character bodies and paint over the existing textures. I would also like to use a program like archipelis to draft basic shapes and start basic carvings before I convert the model to voxels for more detail. but everything keeps importing gray Thank you! ~Ricky
  5. Hello, all. I know this topic comes up often and that there are several videos out there already that demonstrate the concept(s) / method(s). However, I sometimes find that watching one video doesn't always work to help me comprehend the topic, so I decided to create one of my own. Please consider this as a supplemental video to what is already out there. This method works for me and I hope it helps you, too. How to Import an Existing Mesh Into the Voxel Room: [NOTE: I'm not a member of Vimeo. This video is in much higher quality at Vimeo, so click on HD and then follow the direct link to Vimeo to see it more clearly.]
