Member DarkEdge Posted August 19, 2012 Member Report Share Posted August 19, 2012 Is there a function like Inset (inside of Max)? Where I select a polygon and create another polygon inside of it with the corners connected. Thanks
Contributor BeatKitano Posted August 19, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted August 19, 2012 You can use free extrude on the selected polygons and scale down. This should be similar in effect (but not always be parallel to your outside edges though)
Member Randy Posted August 19, 2012 Member Report Share Posted August 19, 2012 That creates inverted faces for me. How do you invert normals ?
Contributor BeatKitano Posted August 19, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted August 19, 2012 You probably hit a bug, or using this technic on a complex shape that generate something unexpected. Do you have a screenshot ?
Member Randy Posted August 19, 2012 Member Report Share Posted August 19, 2012 I created a cube in voxel room. Created a quad on the top in Retop room. Extruded the quad edges. Scaled/Transformed the extrusion. I deleted the orginal face so I can select the extrusion. This pic is me selecting from the bottom. edit - > 3.7.16A

Contributor BeatKitano Posted August 19, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted August 19, 2012 Ok, bug. You need to send that file to Andrew (help>send file to support). Include the following description: "Using ghost mode on reference object blocks add/split from creating any poly or using extrude (it may be the case of all commands). Also if sucessful (after going out of ghost mode and back in) vertices aren't snapped." I wonder how you manage to draw that first face inverted though. Weird. All is good there
