Member Schoening Posted November 2, 2012 Member Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 I want to create the UV for my model. The model is not going to be smoothed, so why does 3D do it anyway? And my Second Question would be: The mesh is 8 sided. And Can I make them look the same via the UV ? So that I have to paint 8 times less! Reputable Contributor digman Posted November 2, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 You are choosing the wrong smoothing. Correct one to Choose: Auto smoothing groups, set to "0" for no smoothing at all.. Second question: Identical uv islands can be copied and pasted on top of each other. Use the normal Control "C" and Control "V" keys for copying and pasting. Select and copy your uv island Select your second uv island and paste Edit: I change to the percentage "0" . I had forgotten that 30% still gives some smoothing on more organic type of objects...
Member Schoening Posted November 2, 2012 Author Member Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 Thanks For now I choose to model UV it inside Blender. But I have not added much detail:
Member Schoening Posted November 2, 2012 Author Member Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 The model was also done in Blender
Reputable Contributor digman Posted November 2, 2012 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted November 2, 2012 Yep, got blender as well... If you just want to create a uv set or sets but not load a model into the paint room or voxel room, here is how. Under the file menu, Choose Import \ Import Retopo Mesh Select your model file Press enter and select no when it ask you to snap to the voxel object as there is none. Create your seams, unwrap. Export your model using the Retopo menu in the top menu. Retopo \ Export Your model with the uv set will be exported...
