The Bigger the Slower

Recommended Posts

Anyone else notice that the bigger the brush size is in the Voxel room, the slower the reaction time of the strokes? I'm sure it has something to do with the amount of voxels being changed at one time, but is this likely to be improved?

Essentially yes, the bigger the brush the more it needs to process geometry. It can slow down quite easily if you upres too quick. Its best to get the bigger shapes right before upressing for details and ofcourse you can also temporarily downgrade/resample volume to improve big brush interactivity.

That's correct. If you have the CUDA version, installed, it helps a good deal (waiting for Andrew to recompile 3DC for the newer CUDA versions to see if the newer technologies will impact it even further). But in general, using Multi-Res will give you the performance boost needed to make large edits, as well as using LiveClay to add localized subdivision only where the detail is needed.

The first half of this video discusses this in some detail, as well.
