Advanced Member ebitz Posted December 31, 2012 Advanced Member Share Posted December 31, 2012 I am using a intuos 5 touch tablet. The issue is that if I keep my pen down on the tablet to slowly rotate around my model or pan the model it is constantly rotating in the opposite direction. It is the same for panning. So i am constantly fighting the rotation of 3d coat and me the user. I have changed camera navigations between 3dcoat and maya. Maya seems to be giving me better results but the problem still exists. The mouse however works perfectly fine as I would expect it to. I am on a linux Ubuntu 12.10 Nvidia 560 card. All drivers are current and updated. Is there a new setting that I am missing, or has anyone else experienced this issue? Some help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Member 4museman Posted January 13, 2013 Member Share Posted January 13, 2013 Hi! I have the issue too. It does only in the new 4.00.BETA9C(GL64) version, while in the stable version 3.7.18F(GL64) this doesn't happen. If I just tap and hold the pen down, the scene in the viewport is slowly rotating like if I move the pen down and slightly to the right. Similarly it does for panning and for zooming. For sculpting or doing anything else it behaves as it should, it is only navigation issue. Ubuntu 12.04, GeForce 6600 GT (shame, I know; I will upgrade soon), NVIDIA Driver v.: 295.40, Intuos 3 (PTZ-930G). PS: Sorry, this is my first post here. I'm in learning process of this amazing application, and I just have no any questions so far, because there is plenty of good sources of wisdom on the internet and namely on official YouTube channel. Thanks for that!
Advanced Member ebitz Posted January 16, 2013 Author Advanced Member Share Posted January 16, 2013 Hey 4museman, and welcome to the forum. It is a minor annoyance but I think it's chipping away at me slowly. You are correct though it seems to be only happening in the later beta versions. It is an amazing application. One that is maturing greatly. I love the sculpting aspect with the traditional ways of working in the other rooms. Lacking is similar applications. It's performance is, I dare say, unmatched. It's method of working requires a little bit of understanding but there are plenty of resources to get you started. It' essentially one-stop content creations application. If you do have questions I'll be around. I'm fairly new as well, but I've learned a few things.
Member 4museman Posted January 17, 2013 Member Share Posted January 17, 2013 Thank you ebitz, I'm impressed every day by 3D-Coat. It's pretty capable of rapid creation once one grasp its basic principles. A few flaws are allways unavoidable in any art (of programing). Although I hope this one can be solved, because it is rather annoying while working.
Contributor TimmyZDesign Posted January 21, 2013 Contributor Share Posted January 21, 2013 I recommend creating a Mantis bug report. Andrew (the primary developer of 3D-Coat) responds mostly to Mantis bug reports. If you make a report there it is very likely that he will solve the problem within a few days. Create an account and report your problem here: http://3d-coat.com/mantis/view_all_bug_page.php
Advanced Member ebitz Posted March 4, 2013 Author Advanced Member Share Posted March 4, 2013 I have just discovered a work around for this issue. If I launch 3d coat while my tablet is plugged in we arrive at this constant rotation issue. But if I unplug my tablet while 3d coat is running it quits. Weird, and I do not pretend to understand it. Now if I launch 3d coat again, then plug in my tablet the issue is resolved and there is no more constant rotation. Nice. I have also posted this in mantis. I do not know if this will work for the rest of you but there it is.
Advanced Member ebitz Posted March 6, 2013 Author Advanced Member Share Posted March 6, 2013 I have just noticed though with this workaround 3d coat will not respect my stroke setting in the e-panel. Sucks.
Contributor TimmyZDesign Posted March 8, 2013 Contributor Share Posted March 8, 2013 Yeah bugs like these are very annoying. Whenever I use Mudbox 2013 with my Cintiq there is a big offset from the tip of my Wacom pen and the actual cursor on the screen. It is so annoying that I refuse to use Mudbox anymore. Many users have complained about it on the Autodesk forums. The only solution is to turn off stamp spacing, but that is a ridiculous workaround. Thank God I don't have this problem with Zbrush or 3D-Coat!
Member SilverCity Posted March 15, 2013 Member Share Posted March 15, 2013 I'm also having this issue with the BETA12B(GL64) Mac build using the pen only. The mouse works as it should. Very annoying.
Member SilverCity Posted March 16, 2013 Member Share Posted March 16, 2013 I just discovered that the problem is tied to using the LMB in my navigation hot keys. If I map zoom, pan and rotate to the MMB, everything works as it should. But, that messes up some of my other hot keys.
