Advanced Member stusutcliffe Posted February 9, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 9, 2013 http://www.wenovo.com/freeware/pictures-to-color-freeware.php I came across this whilst on the Artrage forums. It extracts a colour palette from an image.
Contributor ajz3d Posted February 9, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted February 9, 2013 Thanks. Looks like a neat little app I will most certainly be trying out. Though the description says it exports the palette to HTML only.
Advanced Member stusutcliffe Posted February 9, 2013 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 9, 2013 Yes html only... But two other things you can do......alt+print screen then paste it in your favourite image program and save it,or use the clipping tool if you have it. ( ps does using the word "program" make me sound like a grandad .....should I say "app" now, to be hip .....
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted February 9, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted February 9, 2013 I want to make sure "grandad" doesn't get a bum rap (for "bum rap", see 1930's movies), but I've been using "app". For "hip", see 1950-60's movies.

Advanced Member stusutcliffe Posted February 11, 2013 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 11, 2013 I meant to say "snipping tool" rather than "clipping tool" in a post above! ( why can I not edit my posts?)
Advanced Member alvordr Posted February 16, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 16, 2013 This capability would be awesome if it were added to 3DC. You could extract the colors you need and store them as named palettes for reference at any time.
Contributor BeatKitano Posted February 16, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted February 16, 2013 Or you can go into the picker palette and load the picture you want to sample from at any give moment.
Advanced Member alvordr Posted February 16, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 16, 2013 Yes, I saw that, but this gives a huge range of colors right off the bat, that can then be saved as palettes right away and used again later on. This would keep you from trying to fine pick colors out of an image each and every time.
Contributor BeatKitano Posted February 17, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted February 17, 2013 What would've been a nice (and smart) implementation is to be able to sample colors and save them as color swatches... But... *sigh* I just want to place a 4 letters acronym here...
Advanced Member alvordr Posted February 17, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 17, 2013 I do realize that 3DC can save a color swatch set, but it doesn't appear that you can have it analyze an image to get it's color set, which is what I was saying would be helpful. This would allow you to save swatch sets as Dark / Medium / Light Skins, Metals, Woods, Nature, etc., based on real pictures, without having to grab colors one-by-one. It would save time. That said, I'm sure Andrew has quite enough on his plate, as it is.
