I think I messed up my install

Hi. Sorry I don't post much.

Ok.... I just purchaed an upgrade of my Steam version of 3d Coat EDU to Pro. Everything went fine and I received my new serial in my e-mail.

I did not know how to upgrade the current serial to a new one. So I clicked "uninstal license" under "Help" in the menu bar. I thought that I could then re-install the new license but it doesn't seem that is what I did. Instead I uninstalled the old license for that computer. Now all that happens is it runs in demo mode.

I'd like to install my new pro license but I don't see how I do that. I did a search and could find others with questions but their situation was not simular to mine. I am not a neophyte use and I could just use regedit and update that registry entry but I bet that's a bad idea.

I have another 32 bit PC that I suppose I could install the Pro license on but I'd like to use this 64 bit one for 3d coat. So... now I have a Steam version of 3d Coat, the 4.0 beta and the regular instal of 3.7 but all runing in demo. I have a 32 bit PC that I use on occasion with no versions of 3d coat installed. I would like 3d Coat 3.7 pro and 4.0 beta on the 64 machine and 3.7 pro on the 32 bit one. How do I do that?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Brenda,

After un-installing the license did the popup window appear when you launch 3D-Coat? It offers to Try Buy or Register. It has a field where to type your serial number. That should do the trick.

"A Serial Number is bound to a single user. Nobody else can use the Software on your computers. If you are a private individual, you may install and use the Software maximum on three computers — on one office computer and on two your personal home computers, provided that you do not use the Software simultaneously on more than one computer."

Hi Daniel. No it doesn't. At first It brought my web browser up to a page on the 3d coat site saying I had sucessfully removed my license from that PC and could now install it on another one. Which I guess I could do, you can have in on more than one, just not up at the same time. But since I didn't know what was going on I just decided not to do anything. But now the 4.0 beta and the 3.7 run in demo mode.

I'm sorry to bother you. I looked around for instructions and didn't find any otherwise I wouldn't have asked.

copy the serial number before do it

Is there an instal license option ?

Ok, that worked and then it didn't. To begin with I have three installs on my Win64 PC.

(1) My first version was Steam purchsed 3.7 edu which is located at Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\3d-coat

(2) Then I decided to participate in the beta program which installed at Program Files\3D-Coat-V4

(3) Then I decided to upgrade to a pro license and for some reason decided to do a regular instal at Program Files\3D-Coat-V3 which installed and then ran as edu.

(4) I then uninstalled my license with that exe. running which brought up the "you have succesfully uninstaled you license" web page.

(5) I closed Firefox and 3d coat and re-launched the one at Program Files\3D-Coat-V3 which now said it was in demo mode.

(6) Started this thread

so just now I followed carlosa's advice and

(7) launched Program Files\3D-Coat-V3 and uninstalled the license again. again it launched Firefiox and brought up the succesfull uninstal web page again.

(08) Closed 3d coat then re-launched it.

(9) The instal license offer now appeared and I pasted my pro license.

(10) The exe located at Program Files\3D-Coat-V3 now was the pro version. I closed it and launched the beta at Program Files\3D-Coat-V4

(11) The beta did not say it was in demo mode.

(12) Launched the exe located at Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\3d-coat

(13) It launched, seemed to pause a bit, and reverted to demo mode. I closed it down

(14) Launched the exe at Program Files\3D-Coat-V3 which now was again in demo mode. Same with the beta version.

My guess is I should just uninsall the steam exe, uninstal all the others too, re-instal the 3.7 at the usual location, do what is needed to get the license for that validated and only then instal the 4.0 beta and just not have the steam version on my PC.

That was a bit nerdy, sorry about that. And sorry for bothering everyone about this. I probably should have uninstalled the steam version from the start.

Thanks.

Ok...... that seemed to work. I deleted the steam version and then uninstalled and the re-installed the pro serial.

I now have 3.7 pro in the Programs folder and the beta is also not in demo mode. Everything seems ok.

Sorry for taking everyone through that but maybe it will help someone else out in the future.
