Advanced Member popwfx Posted February 21, 2013 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 21, 2013 You know how photoshop has Shape layers which are vector? Can 3DCoat import basic vector shapes, .ai or .eps or .svg and use them as materials (to paint with - have to be careful there are so many uses of the word "material" in this app) and freeze masks? Is there a way to bring vectors and "infinitely scalable" clean crisp line shapes into 3DCoat's Paint room and have them applied/conform to the topology of a shape? If so I've missed it... thanks

Advanced Member popwfx Posted February 21, 2013 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 21, 2013 bummer. Sounds like a good feature request for the paint room. Has this been asked for before?
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted February 21, 2013 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted February 21, 2013 Not as a material but you can as a shape. So if you have a logo done in Illustrator, you could go to the E-Panel > LOAD SHAPE > find file and now you have a spline shape created for you to use, based on the vector shape you had in the illustrator file. Paint, select for use with freeze, Vox Layer tool, Cutoff, etc.

You can do everything with the shape that you would do with your request. Scale, skew, rotate, move, etc.
