Member takanari Posted March 2, 2013 Member Share Posted March 2, 2013 Hi there ! This is my new work "Earth Dragon". Maybe Vox Sculpt, Retopo, Paint in 3D-Coat, and Render in UDK. I like snake brush drawing, but instead retopology is very hard..... Thanks. 2 Quote Link to comment https://3dcoat.com/forum/index.php?/topic/11439-earth-dragon/ Share on other sites

Advanced Member L'Ancien Regime Posted March 2, 2013 Advanced Member Share Posted March 2, 2013 That's an interesting and original approach. What were you doing with the orange paint there? I take it those snake tool sketches were made with the spline tool? How did you fill in those snake voxel sketches? Member takanari Posted March 2, 2013 Author Member Share Posted March 2, 2013 to L'Ancien Regime san Thank you for your comment. I've mainly drawn with snake brush in the free hand. I selected from E-Pane menu "affects draw depth" and snake brush's tool option is "Tube / Hemisphere" If filling space of the many thickness, I select the "Grow or Clay Brush" + "Paint with drawn contour" in E-Pane menu or simply fill by snake brush. If don't need a thickness, I select the "Fill Brush" + "Paint with drawn contour" in E-Pane menu. 1 Quote Link to comment https://3dcoat.com/forum/index.php?/topic/11439-earth-dragon/#findComment-88180 Share on other sites

Contributor BeatKitano Posted March 2, 2013 Contributor Share Posted March 2, 2013 I like working with sphere snake brush tool in voxel mode too, reminds me of the old days with amapi and laying out a spline cage before getting into the actual polygon creation It's really fun to work like that but it takes and awful lot of time, it's nice to see someone using that technic and getting good results. Member takanari Posted March 3, 2013 Author Member Share Posted March 3, 2013 to BeatKitano san Thank you for your warm comment ! 3D-Coat is very interesting that can drawn in many unique way. And This is my new images. I tried using "Pose" for adjust the arm angle. Bend from masked by "Select with pen" is it useful. And if combined with E-Pane "Paint with drawn contour", I was able more easily fill bend mask. Member takanari Posted March 3, 2013 Author Member Share Posted March 3, 2013 Oh, I have a small question. I found the "Save selection" in the Pose Tool Options, I have tried using it immediately but an error will be displayed. "Mesh structure was changed and stored selection can't be applied to the mesh." .....What I wrong ? I don't edit anything while select the Save selection > Clear selection > Load selection. Contributor BeatKitano Posted March 3, 2013 Contributor Share Posted March 3, 2013 Are your running the latest beta ? I just tried (without editing anything) and it worked. You need to not touch anything that modify the topology (no removestretching tool, no liveclay tool). I've tested with a simple model in 3.7.18F, And I was able to get a good result in this version. I will continue to work back to 3.7.18F. Thanks. Contributor BeatKitano Posted March 3, 2013 Contributor Share Posted March 3, 2013 Unless you want to stick with 3.x cycle I suggest you get the v4 beta, 12b is particularly fast (and seems somewhat reliable sculpting-wise) which would help you with surface sculpting. Those betas are updated quite often and you can have both 3x and 4x installed on your machine without any issue. [Edit] I'm confused looking at your sig you already know about v4...
