New Member ahoi Posted March 6, 2013 New Member Report Share Posted March 6, 2013 Hello Everybody, i am new here- ... I started modelling a sculpture in the voxel mode. Now i want to apply colors and textures, to have a colored model. the final idea is to export a stl file which contains the mesh and color informations to upload the file to an online 3d printing service. What is most important here? thanks in advance, AHOI
Javis
Hi there! Welcome aboard. What is more important, really depends on the requirements of the printing service. Can they print vertex colour maps, or do they require an image map? If the former, you can turn on voxels to be in the paint room. If the latter, than you'll have to retopologize the mesh and paint it with either PTEX, Microvertex or Per-Pixel painting. To turn on vertex colour painting you first must turn on the beta tools under: Edit>Preferences>General>ShowBetaTools (tick the box). Then go to the paint room you must turn on Voxels in the paint room under: View>ShowVoxelsInPaintRoom (tick the box). You must also be certain that the object in question is in surface mode and not voxel mode, this can be done in the VoxTree next to the item, is either a "V" or an "S". "S" is for surface mode, "V" is for voxel mode. That should get you started.
