Newbie Paint Questions

Hi all.

Starting my first 3dc project - to create texture/displacement for medical model (alveolus)

Pretty simple - basically it's applying a texture to a spoon with some thickness.

3dc was great for redoing the uv's. Now I'm painting the displacement and have some questions.

I'm using the skin cracks mask.

1) How do I spread it evenly on the model? I used the fill function, but then it stretches in some parts.

When I try to retouch the stretched areas, I run into 2 other questions:

1) How do I tell 3dc to only paint depth from the mask, not the edges of the brush?

2) How do I tell it to replace the bump where I paint? If I have additive painting on, it builds on the lower layer, if I have it off, it fills in the cracks as I rotate the model.

Any other suggestions for how to do this would be greatly appreciated. It would be the same as trying to apply the cracks mask evenly around a sphere.

I can see that this will work great once I learn how to use it!

Thanks.
