Member pixeldroid Posted March 8, 2013 Member Report Share Posted March 8, 2013 Hi all. Starting my first 3dc project - to create texture/displacement for medical model (alveolus) Pretty simple - basically it's applying a texture to a spoon with some thickness. 3dc was great for redoing the uv's. Now I'm painting the displacement and have some questions. I'm using the skin cracks mask. 1) How do I spread it evenly on the model? I used the fill function, but then it stretches in some parts. When I try to retouch the stretched areas, I run into 2 other questions: 1) How do I tell 3dc to only paint depth from the mask, not the edges of the brush? 2) How do I tell it to replace the bump where I paint? If I have additive painting on, it builds on the lower layer, if I have it off, it fills in the cracks as I rotate the model. Any other suggestions for how to do this would be greatly appreciated. It would be the same as trying to apply the cracks mask evenly around a sphere. I can see that this will work great once I learn how to use it! Thanks. Member pixeldroid Posted March 9, 2013 Author Member Report Share Posted March 9, 2013 FWIW, after filling the mesh with the displacement texture, I'm using the clone tool to fix areas where the texture doesn't go around corners very well. A bit tedious, but sufficient for now...

I don't see it in Fill Tool Options nor Layers Menu.

Member pixeldroid Posted March 14, 2013 Author Member Report Share Posted March 14, 2013 Thanks, that worked great. I haven't done a lot of UVing, so I discovered that I needed to use a different approach to the UV layout. 3dc is so easy to do basic UV layout, but the results did have some unmerged UVs which I fixed in Maya.
