Member Bo Atkinson Posted August 27, 2008 Member Report Share Posted August 27, 2008 I just bought my OSX - 3DC license and expect it will become a favorite tool, in time. (Perhaps only after a long time as development here appears so much faster and better than usual, cheers to that. Also, most users here appear focused on rendering rather than geometry subjects. I'm stuck with other work for a while and hope to learn little bits of 3DC at a time. ) Question 1] Please verify: No other 3DC video tutorials exist besides the nine html- video files available in "AllTutorials.zip" Question 2] On another CAD forum i read the following and wonder what if anything has been done or tried with similar industrial CAD standards as "class A" (Done with or for 3DC output files) Quote: "After Googling a bit I found this link: http://www.design-engine.com/stories/class...face/classa.htm By the hits on Goggle, It appears there is no standard definition now, as the "class A" has been in use long before CAD." End Quote Not that it is so very important for me, but rather i am trying to better understand what i can expect if i export files to "industrial pros".... I don't expect to do this soon nor often, but i'm always interested in learning more about mesh standards within larger industries. For all i know, ClassA will become Smooth or NURBS models only, but i personally find Smooth and NURBS very limiting in terms of "subdivision" of meshes. (As compared with faceted-textures). While faceted modeling is lovely, it sometimes requires "triangulating" many quad faces, which sometimes ruins certain objectives i personally strive for. I do look forward to inter-playing 3D meshes between 3DC and my main CAD (formZ) in due course. It is hard to explain objectives here, however. Thanks for any insights. Andrew Shpagin
About tutorials: there are two more downloadable vidoe tuts: UV-mapping tutoral: http://207.44.140.6/~dcoat/Tutorials/UnwrapTool.rar This is the link to penguin object: 207.44.140.6/~dcoat/Tutorials/p05.lwo Retopology tutorial: http://www.3d-coat.com/tutorials/Retopo/retopology.zip Additional video: 3DC<->C4D: http://3dbrush.kriska.hvosting.net/forum/i...?showtopic=1313 3DC<-> Blender: http://3dbrush.kriska.hvosting.net/forum/i...?showtopic=1238 About class A- first time I am hearing it. But anyway any surface is 3d-object, mesh, so it can be imported in 3DC and painted. Of course quad - polygones are very preferred.
